this might be my best deal, https://www.ebay.com/itm/255870418729?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&mkscid=101&itemid=255870418729&targetid=1645685073528&device=c&mktype=&googleloc=9031600&poi=&campaignid=16730423415&mkgroupid=135815925780&rlsatarget=pla-1645685073528&abcId=9300841&merchantid=101746622&gclid=CjwKCAiAy_CcBhBeEiwAcoMRHG58yhs8BNdCytnlaVV0XdhYrjoOvrBI8mKfc-tWMKF152XDH8Kh8hoCCnUQAvD_BwE

I had already taken the drive off, preventively cleaned and greased it. This weekend, I'll check it out again. What bugs me more than no speedo, is the odometer isn't accurate any longer.

https://www.aliexpress.us/item/2251832623693399.html?gatewayAdapt=glo2usa&_randl_shipto=US any other known sources? I plan to ensure the cable is still working, as well as the gear mechanism, prior to purchasing a new entire unit.

Another ride to work, running great, no leaks, etc. However, the speedo stopped working. I know these are prone to breaking, so after 300 miles of riding, I guess it was my turn.
-
ok, i just ran out of the office to measure my forks (slider exposure). At rest, chrome is 4.25" and measuring the oil/debris/slide marks, travel looks to be 2".
-
I rode again today, still monitoring everything. All is still well. As for the forks, they are fine on the road at travel, but slowly going over bumps, they are harsh. Fork travel seems is only 2-3 inches of "slide". I would have thought there was more.

I rode to work today, 20 miles one way with no issues. I plan to do so the remainder of the week. If all goes well, I'll count the V11 as road worthy. I noticed at 80mph, RPM is just over 4,000, nearly the same as my V7. This surprised me. Although the V7 feels like it's working hard at that RPM, the V11 feels merely cruising.

Welcome Mick!

Thanks for the replies. All of my lines and vents have been cleaned. My bet is my valve may be inline backward. I’ll check it again…

2003 Moto Guzzi V11, Marzocchi rider weight: 170 lbs forks: C6 / R13 shock: 44mm drop was as low as I could gain, even when the shock spring was fully backed off. This is equal to 37%, acceptable. – 128mm stock Fork travel – 30-35% is ideal (About 30 Percent Give Or Take: The first thing you need to know is how much shock suspension travel your bike has (you can often get suspension travel specs from the manufacturer’s website). Then you need to calculate what 30 percent of that is. For example an Africa Twin has 8.7 inches of shock travel and 2.6 inches is 30 percent of that. Therefore, on an Africa Twin, you want the rear of the bike to drop about 2.6 inches from the fully-extended position with you, geared up, with luggage, if that’s how you typically ride.) Note: My forks rise above the triple tree by 15mm, quicker steering.

As a sort of starting point for comparison, please reply with your settings, and maybe a short NOTE to accompany. Setting Sag When counting clicks, it’s always counter clockwise, from all the way screwed in.
-
Having only filled my fuel tank a single time since getting this bike, I don't have much experience. However while working on the bike and I open the tank, it always takes a gasp. Is this correct, or should the vent-valve remove any sign of vacuum? I'm fairly certain I didn't install it backward.
-
I'm the ideal weight for stock springs. With no gear, I'm 170. I should be able to set the sag, then adjust for ride preference.
-
Praise report! There are no leaks, everything is tightened up proper. The bike starts, rides, idles as it should. This thing is so fast, anything after 4,000rpm! One improvement is fork height, within the risers. I have them at 15mm. At 10mm, it was better, but 15mm was dead-on for my liking. I repeatedly took road bumps trying to better dial in the suspension. I was displeased with the improvements I made in this area. I currently have them set at C6, and R12. It still takes bumps harsh at this setting. Please advise.

@activpop I just tried yesterday, again, on my black frame. Two Zerks are doable, but there is no practical way for the third. Don't even try unless you remove the rear wheel. Once removed, you can do additional shaft maintenance.
-
I jacked the bike up, dropping, and raising the rear wheel. I even tried removing the shroud, nope. I GIVE UP. I'll wait until my near new tire wears out, then I'll remove the shaft for proper maintenance. Appreciate your post @docc, this will be a great reference should I plan to swap out the joints at that time as well. Until then, 2 out of 3 ain't bad.

For others interested in clipon to bar conversion, I just discovered this vendor. This seems like an easy, and affordable option. $122. https://www.officine08.com/p73297_fork-bridge-moto-guzzi-v-11-le-mans-conversion-kit-superbike-lsl-grey.html My apologies if these were already mentioned elsewhere.

Crankcase oil vent hose, $20 Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000C2Y22S?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details I currently am using this on my 2003. Note: As this hose is intended for water, it is not oil certified. However others have noted no signs of wear for well over 10,000 miles. Even then, no loss of oil, only degradation of the rubber. At this price, and ease of replacement, it serves us to install, and monitor, and replace as needed versus OEM that is hardly available and cost threes times this amount.

YTZ14S Z14S Lithium Ion 12v Battery, 1.98lbs, CCA 300, $122. Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00O179I9W?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details I currently am using this on my 2003. Note: the height of this battery is only 3.4", thus it can be mounted upright, accounting for the positive terminal being on the left, as opposed to the OEM being on the right. Update: this battery has been working perfect, not a single problem. Since this purchase however I ordered a NOCO lithium for my KLX250 and was more impressed than I ever have been with any lithium brand. In the future, I plan to stick with NOCO.
