  1. I just called ElectroSport, I'm impressed! I merely called to ask if local pickup is available and was referred to their tech, prior to visiting. This guy was super knowledgable, helpful, and helped diagnosed, albeit over the phone. He was surprised, but agreed, it sounds like my Amazon $40 RR is dead on arrival. Made in the USA, one year warranty too; I'm heading there in just a bit.
  2. Well, my Amazon Chinese replacement rectifier did not fix my situation. $40 shot as it's no returns. I wasn't convinced this new one was bad, but the test results displayed were identical. I had a knowledgeable friend look it over today and he thinks it's the rectifier. If it truly is a junk part, I'll eat the cost and buy a better one. However if I buy another, and it doesn't fix the problem, I'll be so disappointed. The charging system is simple enough, so my question is, might it be something else I'm missing or is it indeed still the rectifier needing replaced (relay issue)? headlight works low and high, as well as the brake light. I should mention, if the battery is disconnected, the bike stops running. The more expensive rectifiers I'm considering is these: https://www.regulatorrectifier.com/products/1998-2004-moto-guzzi-v11-sport-lemans-regulator-rectifier https://roadstercycle.com/index.htm https://www.mgcycle.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=37_161&products_id=1277 I'm leaning toward this one, as they are based a few miles from my home. https://www.electrosport.com/products/esr515-regulator-rectifier-ducati-1-phase-charge-light-output Advice, direction?
  3. Well, with the new rectifier, no change! I'm basically getting the same reading, 13.2 at idle and after throttle blips, or at steady higher rpm. Unless I'm mistaken, this now means it's my stator? Not to mention, my 30a fuse to 30a circuit breaker upgrade, is still melting! I'll research online how to test the stator while still installed, then possibly order another depending on results. I hope it's just a matter of removing the front cover to swap. Any advice guys?
  4. I actually bought a generic version of this tool over 20 years ago and absolutely love it, and rely on it. I use for both, cars and motos.
  5. Buy one of these before you start. https://www.motionpro.com/product/08-0143
  6. I removed the rectifier, and checked the ohms, both directions. Negative bias 14.5, positive bias, no movement. If I understand correct, this is good. Just the same, I ordered a replacement, albeit an inexpensive one. At the very least, it will rule out the rectifier with certainty.
  7. Finally checked the charging voltage, dead. The battery is 12.8 and only rises as I increase RPM to about 13v. New regulator needed? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BHQN17XV?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
  8. …rereading this, it's a bit sexual, no?
  9. Don't overthink it, just clean it and grease it. You'll be in there again in a few thousand miles anyway. Burn that rubber!
  10. 4,000 miles, huh. I usually swap plugs at each oil change, but those look far worse than any I've swapped, V7 or V11. Glad you're safe, and back home, albeit a bit late.
  11. I enjoy traveling very much, and would hate to be limited. I believe with flights and accommodations being more affordable, more people are now traveling. I can't blame anyone, there is so much to see in this big world. As for being anti-tourist, it leaves a bad taste. I live near Laguna Beach, CA so I do see a lot of tourist, long lines, etc. I never considered doing anything about it. I pray we all stay safe.
  12. A buddy and I visited the LA version of the popular Austin Handbuilt Motorcycle Show. I found a few Guzzi items. https://revivalcycles.com/pages/handbuilt-motorcycle-show
  13. Thanks, I'll check output this week. If correct, I may look into adding some sort of an inline heatsink.
  14. Last week, riding home my engine light came on and about 5 miles later the bike died. I looked at the circuit breaker and sure enough it had popped. I reset it, but the battery didn't have enough to restart the bike. A friend came and gave me a jump, then I rode home. Although the breaker worked correct, the lead had overheated and somewhat melted just as it did when there was a fuse. Any advice?
  15. I have been using one of these for a few decades, it's awesome. Mine is actually generic though. https://www.motionpro.com/product/08-0143
  16. Speedo, speedo, speedo; my on-going adventure. Today maintaining 80mph, I noticed the needle dropping, then holding at 30mph, while still doing 80. I reach behind the gauge, rattle the cable, no change. I then reach down to the trans angle drive and bingo, it's been backed out a bit, on it's own. I screw it back down and all is well. A little lock-tight or similar will be applied tonight when I get home!
  17. I use ATF for all my forks, 10w by default.
  18. Excellent, thank you for all of the details. I can't wait to get there!
  19. KICK ME IN THE HEAD! Sheesh, the damn thing failed again, on my way to work this morning. I won't know why until I get home and take it apart. I cannot believe the grief. I'd swap for Speedhut, if not for the cost.
  20. What bike are you speaking of? I see you only have a Griso and Thruxton listed.
  21. …rode to work again today, all is well, again. One item I didn't mention is the cable has a nut at one end. I originally had this at the speedo side, but now at the trans side. I'm not certain which end is up. I didn't swap the sheath, only the cable. I did this because it seems like it seated better.
  22. lol, throw more fuel at it, that's always a cure!
  23. Found my problem, my JBWeld didn't hold. It blew the cap back off. Fortunately, I have another angle drive from my NOS speedo, so I replaced it, and it too has been gobbed with JBWeld. It's on there thick, I expect it will hold, better than the other as this cap has never been removed. "Jesus, a little mercy please."
