  1. Searching RaceTech for fork springs, they recommend for my weight, the same spring as stock.
  2. So many great explanations, thank you all. After evaluating what I've adjusted, how it's reacting and what you've each advised; I believe my springs may be too soft. I think I'm the third owner of this bike. The guy I bought it from weighed more than me, albeit he did not ride it more than a 1,000 miles in over 10 years of ownership . My conclusion is the first owner must have been lighter than I and replaced the stock springs because the OEM springs should certainly be able to handle my 170lbs and gear no problem. I guess this gives me the start of my 2024 Christmas list.
  3. They never bottom out while riding, unless I nail a pothole hard! In fact, I'd say they feel really good on-road. I usually only notice during on a slow roll, over a harsh transition. I'm only 165lbs, so the stock spring rate should be perfect for my weight. As for being old, I'm not sure steel loses tensile strength like that, but maybe.
  4. @docc let's define "that". When riding down the street, straight or in turns, the bike handles as well as I expect for stock suspension. However, when first striking a surface change such as when I encounter the street transition from my sloped driveway, it slams. To avoid it, I gingerly brake and roll over this transition each time I leave my drive. But again, once on the road, it seems fine. My guess is the springs need to be more firm during a harsh transition. Is this indeed, preload?
  5. My front is lowered 15mm. I experimented a lot until I found this sweet spot. I was comparing the 2003 V11 to my 2010 V7, which handles amazing. After I landed on 15mm, I discovered GuzziTech advises exactly the same. Do a search for my thread for more specifics, if interested. I still desperately need more preload, but the overall handling, with OEM forks and shocks, are acceptable. I'm wondering if I should replace 2 inches of spring with 2 inches of spacer. I did this with other bikes with great success.
  6. I have my 1989 Honda GB500 (Cycle World 600cc feature bike) on display in our house, full of oil, but zero fuel or battery; no smell at all.
  7. shucks, I'm out. It just can't happen this year for me.
  8. It damn near took 6 full gallons when I filled it. I run the odo each time and in the past clocked 37mpg. This time only 205 miles. As for leaning it over, about to the foot peg.
  9. Proved once again mine doesn't work, ran out of gas a half mile from the station today. I tipped the bike over gathering every last drop and rode the remaining way there. I think I threw out my back…
  10. in case you need a new one, https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256802246857689.html?gatewayAdapt=glo2usa
  11. This is on my list, maybe this year's list! I want to check with my usual riding partner, see if she's interested. If not, maybe I'll go it alone, and meet up.
  12. @docc had posted this pic prior, and is what I used as reference. It truly made a big difference, so much better now. I questioned this bolt/nut orientation so I placed the nut outside, so I might see it missing should that happen and leave me stranded one day. On a side note, I retained the lock nut but swapped to a hex head bolt rather than the allen bolt, thus easier to wrench on.
  13. I installed this upgrade a long while ago, but never had it adjusted correct. The trick is all linkage should be at 90°. I knew it was off, but it's hard to get my fingers in there to adjust it so I kept putting it off. Finally, this past week during Christmas break, I made the time to correct this. WOW, WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Extremely better, positive shifting. Today I rode into work wearing my new Goldtop jacket and shifting safe and sound.
  14. Congrats are getting your girl back, both of them, lol! I know people are skeptical, but at $360 dollars, my AliExpress injectors are still performing fantastic, thousands of miles later.
  15. …you guys are gonna laugh, it doesn't fit! I was so excited, it came very quick, via FedEx. I open the box and at first think it's the wrong color, appearing very brown. It did say it's Oxblood, but it far too brown for my liking. Then I try it on and can't zip it, literally. If you met me, you'd really laugh, I'm a skinny guy (5'10", 160lbs, 33" waist). 65 euros for return postage, swapping from a 40 oxblood, to a 42 black. Sheesh!
  16. Phil, you mentioned letting him by, I know it's not often done in MotoGP. In SX, this happens surprisingly a lot. I don't believe it's team orders, just those recognizing they're not in the hunt. With this said, I sort of thought they should have allowed him by, considering it was a last chance, championship deciding race. There are argument for both sides, but the selfish in me wanted to see the fight!
  17. I nearly bought the Merlin, very nice. Maybe I will after I outgrow this one in a few years.
  18. https://goldtop.co.uk/collections/jackets/products/the-bobber-jacket?variant=40068147970219 I've been wanting an asymmetrical zippered coat for awhile as I'm tired of cold air funneling in through the normal style zipper on cold days, but not ala Marlin Brando style. After much research, I went for the Goldtop Bobber, and to my surprise, in Oxblood. I cannot wait to get it! It has 1.4 thick leather, cool history, and very good reviews, even priced much better than similar styles. I was hoping for a Black Friday deal, but instead of a discount, they included two gifts, wool gater and a leather keychain.
  19. Wow, such an exciting race! Being a BB33 fan, it was soooo exciting. Until 2024
  20. Here in SoCal, Teslas are more common than 911s, Camrys, and pickups combined. They are everywhere and always following behind too close or speeding far beyond all others around them. Most of their owners don't realize how fast they are, or how non-intelligent they are. They seem to get in, and let go. My self-braking Kia also does a poor job of identifying cyclist quick enough. I must always be manual when cycles are around. I hate to admit it, but it is getting more dangerous. Texting while driving was bad, and this only adds to eh danger.
  21. I've had incredible performance from lithium batteries. My V7 had a Shorai for nearly 10 years! I own a total of 7 bikes, and aside from the two scooters, the other 5 all have lithium. My new favorite brand is NoCo, (currently in my KLX250) really impressive product, and price!
  22. Did you need to extend the cables, to fit these?
  23. It's missing the very best part of any motorcycle, a V twin!
  24. I wouldn't worry about that now. That will burn up in no time. As for the fast idle, check your linkage, and the "choke" cable. it gets hung up sometimes, mine did.
