A little too cold...

Good thoughts sent your way! Hope the medical team is ready to go. Brutal conditions for lots this week. -
14° right now with this continuing for a few days. Looking forward to a balmy 27 tomorrow midday. Minnesota weather in Oregon right now. Daffodils were 4"tall before this hit. Let's see how hardy they are.

I just received some photographs printed on aluminum plates. They were taped to piece of cardboard an inch or so bigger than the plate then another piece of cardboard was taped to that. It seemed protected very well and all arrived looking perfect.

To add to Pete's reply, here is the skinny on those throttle bodies from Pete himself. Very informative... When I was looking for a carc bike, it was surprising how some of the owners didn't have a clue about this. Also check on swing arm bearing service. Again, some owners didn't know how they came under lubricated when new. If service was never done, it is better if the bike has low mileage and not seen much moisture, IMO. Both my CARCs had under 7k, so I i wasn't too worried. This winter I will do the deed. Also make sure the engine has roller tappets and not flat. 2012 was the cutoff serial numbers, but as Pete has poi ted out before, this needs to be inspected for positive confirmation and not rely on just serial numbers. Lots of info on these three items in search. -

Where are the campsites and how do you reserve? -
Keeping a bike in the house.

We have an upright piano that isn't used anymore. It really needs to go and a special bike would look great there...except for the fact that my wife is not a lover of "kinetic art". -
Does putting a bike in the house impart much objectional odor to your room or rooms? I would think that just the pipes in a smaller space wouldn't smell as nice as say, baking cinnamon muffins. Maybe you have to put some miles on first with bean oil.

When you know, you know. Best of luck! It will really be a New Year for you.

So that's Red Bull's secret...

He wants something that that stirs the soul. He saw my bikes and would love to have one of them, a V11. He will ultimately make the choice, but docc's suggestion I like best from a safety point of view for a guy getting back into it. I want him to be prepared as possible for the current breed of drivers out there and to reset all that needs to be reset. After all, I'm going to be known as the guy who got him riding again, and I have no clue what his family thinks of this. But that is not to lessen all the other comments. All are great! When you are brainstorming, no idea is a bad idea.

I have my own opinions, but would value yours. I have a friend who wants to get back on a bike again after a 25 year lay off. He wants a Guzzi, but I suggested he could entertain other makes also for his first one. I'm not ruling a Moto Guzzi out though. What models would be a good bet for him, either new or used? Price won't really be an issue. I will rule out most ADV bikes because of seat height, weight and higher center of gravity. He is not tall but is inclined to buy something more unique. There are plenty of used bikes to choose from, that's for sure.

I can't tell you how many people I see riding in the summer with shorts, tank tops and sneakers. On I-5 going over 70mph or zipping around town, makes no matter. If it's hot, it's time to get skimpy...but we must have helmets on here in Oregon. We could wind up looking like a human scab, but our face will always look good.

teslas killing Motorcyclists

Oh, and I forgot to throw texting into the mix. Too many times I'm stuck behind someone doing 10 mph under the limit, and as I pass I notice the reason. -

People seem to be oblivious to driving laws and respect on the road today whatever you are driving. I drive a motorcycle, car and truck, often towing a trailer. I realize what towing does to my stopping distance and drive with great attention to what is in front of me. Other drivers are always cutting me off no matter what the type of vehicle you are in. It is attribitable to a few reasons. I think mostly they see the room to fit, and move into it without a care in the world about what is behind them. They are totally oblivious. Or it could be the fact that they just have the "I dont give a hoot about anybody else but me" attitude, which is on full display anytime I am on the Interstate. A portion of the general public just doesn't have the necessary skills or care to be a safe respectful driver. That will never change. Add "auto pilot" and other fancy options to a car that require the owner to just read the directions and the driving environment becomes more risky for everyone. Something like what is being mentioned here requires a bit more than thumbing through the manual.
