  1. Very nice! Gives new meaning to ultra light...airborne in the length of your driveway.
  2. Got a pic of that bad boy on the ground? I have about 300 hours VFR in a 172...miss it, but kids came along. Back in the day when it was $40 an hour wet. Afraid to see what it is now.
  3. docc, you're never going to sell that. When you are ready to part with your silver V11, it's going in a museum somwhere. In our world, it is the most famous Sport of all...at least the most photographed and well documented.
  4. The wisdom on this site and the wealth of info from past posts blows me away. You are right. I looked up stock new Ballabios and the pipes certainly look to be the same. Owner said they were aftermarket.
  5. I guess that's why it was safety wired...somebody knew.
  6. I noticed on p6x's pictures of the Quota he is checking out there is a crossover pipe in front of the engine. It looks like a welded connection on the main pipes and a clamp in the middle. It is hard to tell from the pic but I'm assuming it is a clamp. On the bike I looked at Tuesday it had a crossover pipe in front of the engine also. The connection to both pipes off the engine had a short welded stub forming a T with what I assume was a female connection with a clamp on either side to accept the crossover pipe. What I did not understand was why the short crossover pipe was loose in both ends under the clamp...it just rattled around. I asked him why it was like that. He replied he didnt know, but he said he tightened up the clamps as tight as he could. Also I noticed that the crossover pipe was safety wired. Was something amiss there? He said they were aftermarket pipes that went straight to the mufflers, instead of through the balance box I am used to seeing on the underside. He also had the balance box to go with the bike, but no pipes. So I am guessing the pipes were aftermarket like he said, but don't have a clue why the present crossover pipe was so loose. I'm going to dig up some Ballabio pics to see what the stock exhaust looks like. Anybody know whats going on here?
  7. You are right to do that! I do the same thing...I like to know what's going on beneath me. My point was that this was advertised to be in excellent condition. You can make some assumptions on a bike that presents itself well as to the level of care it has received. But when it has six months of road grime on it, missing hardware, slop in the throttle and old tires, other assumptions can be made. Polishing up the tank doesn't hide all that.
  8. Yep, that's it. Tank is red and it is in beautiful condition. Italians know red.
  9. It's not forgotten by me if I have to fix it...
  10. Just came back from looking at a V11 for sale. Ad said "excellent condition". I want a red one, and thought this might be it. How often does an excellent bike pop up near your home? You can't always tell from pictures, so I hopped on the Stelvio and off I went. Maybe I'm too picky or my expectations are too high. Owner said price was firm. I couldn't do it. Just too many things not right. I was hoping to find one that I could just hop on and go. The last two bikes I bought needed some serious sorting out. I didn't want to go that route again. I know, I know...expect owner involvement. But not on a bike listed as excellent! The search continues.
  11. I have ordered from SD before. Good prices and fast service to the US. I'll check it out, thanks!
  12. Where did you get that side cover? One of mine is cracked and would love to find replacements.
  13. It's a crack and a crunch, like something hit it. If it is ABS, that is tricky to work with. I think I'll pass. 🤔 Thanks for your input!
  14. I do have the bracket for my V11. Still on the lift getting driveline renewed with unis. Been at a standstill for a bit, life gets in the way sometimes. When the bike comes down that will be the next installation. Hoping to find everything there intact. Don't need any "oh shit" surprises.
  15. Looking at a LeMans for sale. Bike seems pretty solid except for two things, one of them a fairing crack right in the edge of the curved area where the fairing comes down from the windscreen and turns towards the rear. The fairing is one of the most prominent features of this bike and I would like it to be pristine. My question is can this be repaired? What is the material it is made from? If it was fiberglass, it is an easy repair but then a repaint. But I think it is some sort of plastic or acrylic, so not sure what the options could be. Looks like a sore thumb to me. I don’t think I could live with it and repair with paint could be a chunk of change.
  16. Wondering what years and models were more prone to case weakness and cracking? Its hard to check this out without stripping bike down, which you really can't do on a visit to check out for purchase. So I assume there is a higher risk of getting a bad surprise on some years than others. I think there was a change in 2004 to the case and maybe not an issue there? Not sure though.
  17. Would love to have watched...there's so much to see and learn. Nothing beats experience.
  18. Looks like weather moves out this afternoon. Looks like cool comfortable riding from there.
  19. Technomec supplies parts for farming implements. My contact there says this is their busiest time of year as winter has ended and farming is in full swing. I'm told they only sell 10 of these units a year on average. No clue to what they are used for. Maybe farmers with V11's?
  20. I have received another order...I cleaned them out. They will order more but they wont get them for three months. I have a pair or two up for grabs if anybody is in need. PM's please.
  21. I'll take one. Should've could've...
  22. Did a hiking trip there last Sepember with some HS buds. Really narrow road for driving on with a rented Ford Expedition. Had to drive with the mirrors folded in...those rock walls were sure close! A bike would be no prob. Beautiful place for sure.
  23. My rear pads were really worn so I got a pair from MGCycle. They were less expensive than the fronts. EBC-GG. They claim low disc wear...we'll see.
  24. Well, it only takes one...
