  1. I can tell you I have two cars that we love. Both Toyota hybrids. 2022 Avalon and a 2023 Rav4. I have driven Teslas and Ionic 5's, and think they are neat, but still the jury is out in this household at least what is really best for the environment. I still have my 2007 Duramax with only 104k on it, just for towing.
  2. Maybe explain how undergrowth played a part in this event.
  3. We know how to do it, but aesthetics usually trumps fire resistance. At the present time these things are suggested, not required. That might be changing soon. http://drupalweb.forestry.oregonstate.edu/forest-owner/sites/default/files/fireresistance.pdf
  4. I was referring to methods, although fireproof materials need to be in the mix. For instance, why are cedar roofs even allowed? If we continue to build like we do now, this will keep happening. One house on a street ignites, and it goes from house to house to house. Methods and architecture needs to be changed for every rebuild, and that can only be regulated by municipalities. This might not happen overnight, but the climate has definitely changed and it makes these events more intense. If we don't change how we build, this will be a rinse and repeat possibly every few years.
  5. Getting away with your life is most important, for you and your family, but I can't imagine the feeling of losing everything. It must be devastating. I hope when they rebuild they can use more fire resistant methods. Cedar roofs and big overhangs are the weak links in a wind driven fire. When there were quakes in CA and OR, the building codes were changed to build stronger. IDK if codes can be changed a bit so homes can be more resilient in a fire too.
  6. 300 bikes, wow! How many cars were there?
  7. I see it still has the evap can, but if it was completely original, shouldn't this little guy be swinging in the breeze?
  8. I have seen many a Norge private sales going for over 1k less, or even more. Dealers always have them at a premium...but you know that. How many Stelvios have we seen at dealers sitting for well over a year with price tags around 8k. As with most bikes, if you are patient, the right one will come along.
  9. Pre-Makita.
  10. @docc, my guess on the metal frame and end is only a guess mind you. Years ago the only screw available was a slotted type. Old hinges, both butt and strap, plus many other pieces of hardware could be painted or rusted over for years. The perfect tool for plowing out the slot would be the screwdriver tip, but tapping it over the years would damage the wood end. Putting that metal cap at the end of the tang would prevent that. I have had to clean out hundreds of paint filled slots over my 53 years as a carpenter. I would normally use the tip of a Stanley knife, but back in those days this might have been the way. I still have one old Stanley chisel made the same way...metal end, wood handle.
  11. I remember fiddling with them when I was about 6 or 7 working with him in the basement of our first house in NJ. I still use them today for intricate work. Brings back memories when I use them.
  12. Wow, that's oldie! From your Dad? I have a bunch of hand tools from my Dad's box. Old Utica dikes, needle nose and pliers, plus other stuff from his days at Western Union after WWII. Who made that screwdriver! Stanley?
  13. I've always been a fan of letting warm oil and gravity do its thing, but sometimes you can't.
  14. Only you could arrange that stuff to make it look like artwork.
  15. Saw this band in a Boston bar first time '72. Great bar band. Saw them many times back in the day...maybe because we were always in bars...
  16. Two beauties for sale. A Tenni in San Diego and a customized Cafe Sport in PA. Both on MP, didn't see them on CL.
  17. Hey @docc, I have one of them...in red!
