  1. in response to Baldini... Hope to make at least one of those events - nervous though 'cos my record for staying upright is not good!!!
  2. in anser to bordsenius... My Scura battery is 34 months old, and has served 23,000 miles. Despite hooking it up to an Optimate when left for more than a couple of days it is now giving symptoms similar to yours - seems reluctant to take a full charge. Here in the UK an OEM replacement costs about £90 (don't know how many kroner!). Batteries are like women - if you abuse them or don't give them what they really need - regular and loving attention - they refuse to perform! Robin
  3. in response to velofish... With regard to the odo reset screw - are you sure you're turning it the right way? If it's been turned the wrong way it will eventually disconnect from the odo drive. Apologies for suggesting such an obvious error, but I know 'cos 'I was that soldier'!!! Robin
  4. in response to DeBenGuzzi... Blue downpipes are a badge of honour - they prove that you've used the bike for what it was intended! I've had some reasonable success cleaning my Scura downpipes by using Solvol Autosol (but I expect that any mildly abrasive metal cleaner will do) - put some on a long thin cloth, pass the cloth around the pipe and pull it back and forth - the pipes recover to a pleasing satin steel colour, but the blue remains. 5. in response to Paul Minnaert... Think you applied the Euro/Pound conversion the wrong way - £3,700 is about 5,200 Euros at an exchange of 1 Euro = £0.70 - a tidy investment and one which goes some way to explaining my marital status of divorced! Robin
  6. in response to Paul Minnaert... You won't like this reply, but you asked so I'll tell you - a pair of MGS01 Corsa Oz wheels, with road tyres and Brembo Goldline discs fitted set me back £3,700 - but hey, it's only money - damn the expense - give the cat another goldfish!!! Robin
  7. in response to aironepony... Yes - I have an MGS01 Corsa which is registered and street legal. I've fitted rear reflector, stop light and horn, and mirrors - I might put tiny indicators on in due course. It also needed a mounting for the registration plate - my chum is manufacturing one, but I'm trying to get one from a Benelli Tornado - that bike's rear end is very similar to the Corsa, so it should be able to be fitted with little problem. Also fitted a V11 sidestand, which required a bit of work on the belly pan, but it looks good and works perfectly. All this work was done by a friendly Guzzi expert here in theUK - I just stumped up the cash! I also bought a second set of Oz wheels (the same as the original ones) with street tyres and Brembo discs fitted - all that I need to do to track it is swap out the wheels and he's ready to go. Can't comment on how you would go about getting a Corsa street legal elsewhere - obviously laws are different in each country. I've only had a short ride on him so far, but first impressions are that it is definitely a track bike - the ride on ordinary roads is very hard - every bump and ripple is transmitted up through the seat and bars. The ride position is very heavy on the wrists, so most riding will be done on fast roads so that wind resistance takes some of the weight off my wrists. All my bikes have names - the Scura is Lucia, and the Cali is Marilyn - but this is the first male - called him Akira - a poke of fun at the Japanese bike cartoon! Robin
  8. in answer to Belfastguzzi... Ha - 150 mpg??? of course I meant 150 miles per tank !!!
  9. I fitted the Moto Guzzi titanium cans and the race chip on my Scura - the performance improvement is very noticeable and fuel economy is improved from about 150mpg per tank up to 165. But the cans seem to be rather loose - I've tightened the clamps where the pipes fit into the cans, and the straps which hang from the footpeg brackets, but the cans are still loose - grabbing the tail pipe and wiggling it reveals about half an inch of lateral movement on both cans - anyone else experienced this? Is it to be expected from the type of mounting that is used? There's no popping or backfiring so I'm guessing that there are no leaks, but it just doesn't seem right somehow...
  10. in response to belfastguzzi... Matt polish - I was referring to the stuff you can get from Halfords etc for refinishing black plastic - "Back to Black" I think - it re-blackens where there are scratches, scuffs etc, but dries to a matt, or semi-matt finish - excellent on black plastic, but useless on black Guzzi bits! Thanks to all for your replies - the problem is not getting rid of the fly-squash, but getting rid of the shiny mark that it leaves on the matt surfaces. No such probs on the Corsa - likely that the only recurring prob I'll have with him is being repeatedly stopped by the police for having no lights etc., But hey, small price to pay for biking heaven!
  11. in answer to belfastguzzi... Insurance on the Corsa is fixed - through Carole Nash - not sure that they know what they've insured, but they gave me a good quote (they said it sounded like an MV Agusta for replacement cost) Who am I to argue - I have the policy, and I'm set to ride!!! Replated as GU51GAL (matches my Scura which has GU51GUY) No peeling paint at all - perhaps due to the fact that the engine has barely been allowed to cool down since I bought the bike! I have never used a pressure washer, and I don't clean the bike very often - only when it REALLY needs it! I don't need to re-finish the paint, only need to clean it sufficiently to restore the blackness.
  12. Once again, this has probably been asked before - if so many apologies. The matt black parts of my bike (tank, fairing) are in excellent condition after 22,000 miles, but there are shiny splats which witness the impact of long-deceased insects and general road grime. I've tried removing these blemishes with soapy water, white spirit, methalyted spirits and matt polish - all to no avail. Any tips or hints?
  13. Apologies if this has been asked before, and I'm sure it has! After 22,000 miles my Scura engine paint has become a dull grey colour. No problems with flaking (although I could live to regret saying that!!!), but the original matt black finish has gone, and now the paint is a blotchy dark grey colour. I've tried washing with soapy water and a brush, even sprayed it with WD40 (the universal panacea) but can't get it to look black again - any ideas?
  14. Thanks for your help guys - all good stuff. Couldn't find the cans on ebay, but if they looked a bit ruff, then I wouldn't want them - call me picky! My supplier in UK (Motomecca) tried to get them from Italy, and were told that they're not planning to make any more - something to do with cash flow and Aprilia - just when we thought things were looking better for Guzzi - Oh well... Thanks again - happy riding Robin
  15. Hi guys and gals - this is my first post. I live in Portsmouth, UK and I'm trying to get hold of the following items for my V11 Sport Scura: Moto Guzzi titanium cans and ecu. Carbon alternator cover. Carbon rear hugger Any idea where I can get them from? I understand that MG are no longer making the titanium cans and ecu. Robin Sharman
