  1. My Sprinter van once pushed transmission oil 2 feet up a cable and into the controller. Might be worth looking at the other end of the cable. Another Art
  2. Think I picked the wrong bike. There is no 2000 V11 Sport, so I chose the 2005 V11 Naked. Then I switched to the 1999 Sport 1100. This looks correct. Surprisingly big difference in forward lean.
  3. I could swear I'm hunched over more than the image shows. Photo time.
  4. Unfortunately, around here we have "bobbers". These really are too ugly to look at. They are not built, they are the opposite.
  5. The more ugly bikes that are out there, the better mine looks. I actually like looking at anything built.
  6. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZouEkDHLJyQ Not sure why I like this.
  7. I've got a lot of twisties ahead of me before understanding my suspension. But I do have 2 questions. Is there any chance that the basic fork upgrades have NOT been done in the last 23 years? Is there a simple few clicks up/ down I should do, weighing 20 lbs less than the previous owner? Thanks
  8. MartyNZ is correct about white Leds. The 2 small arrows are too small a surface to get much light through. I went with my original plan, which is very easy to see, even in sunlight.
  9. Using the MartyNZ wiring diagram I was able to use a single super bright white led for each side, and fit them in the proper place.
  10. I believe those resistor pairs will allow the use of the stock mechanical flasher. They have since started to make digital flashers that cost less than the resistors. The resistor pairs will not solve the indicator lamp problem. You need two indicator lamps, one for each side. I kind of like the ones installed in mirrors, some place I'll see them.
  11. Thanks for the diagram. I'm basically doing the same, with 4 leds for left and 4 for right. I'm impressed you got it to fit in the original location.
  12. Nobody wants to be that guy going down the road with signals flashing. I have seen someone build an auto cancelling system using numerous sensors and microprocessors. I can solder LEDs. This is a problem for those who have installed LED signals. The stock indicator lamp will not work. Whoever installed the leds on my bike must have had a great memory, which didn't come with the bike. I'm experimenting with a super thin row of 8 leds that will sit on top of the panel. At some point I remembered that somewhere on this forum this problem was probably solved 15 years ago.
  13. Just thinkin What if that phone under the seat had a stereo mike turned on, and transmitting to wireless buds? Would this replace a $1000 set of pipes while keeping out wind noise?
  14. The cops around here chase people in traffic on fully loaded Harleys, with guns. They wear half helmets and short sleeve shirts. Bicycle racers shave their legs so they heal quicker. Nice to have a choice.
  15. Sorry to hear about such widespread hearing loss. Good news is it's fixable. If this is leading to a wider topic on old rider health issues, I've got lots to say on memory loss. If I can remember.
  16. The odometer is geared to the engine and should always be accurate or broken. The speed needle floats in a magnetic field controlled by a watch spring. Mostly magic. It requires an experts touch to calibrate, which is a bit of a lost skill. Not something you'll get with a $40 replacement. New units use an electric motor to drive the needle, and are programmable. I used a Garmin GPS wristwatch to get my comparison.
  17. Discovering things on the new bike. The low fuel lamp does work. Starts being intermittent around half tank. At 26 mpg I plan on seeing it a lot. 70mph is 62mph according to Garmin. This is adjustable, much like a watch I wouldn't touch. The odometer is right on. Super fast flashing leds doesn't mean you need to buy an electronic flasher. The existing one had the speed cranked right up.

    Monochrome

I'll take some hi res photos. You can count me in on any discussions on color preferences, but sometimes the style and design stand out better without color.
  19. Thought I would try out the simplest muffler mod described on this site. Pulled out all the mesh and put the covers back on. It may be a bit louder, but not much. The problem is the bike disappears by 4th gear, lots of good stuff going on but no sound track.
  20. Good to see it's not obsolete. Think I'll wait until I absolutely need it. Sort of like waiting for the Low Fuel lamp to come on while not knowing if it actually works.
  21. The Canadian thing is a problem. Even Odyssey Canada no longer stocks it. I just put the old Yuasa back in, along with some lightweight jumper cables. We'll see how it goes.
  22. So how long does it take to hit 140 and back to legal? I would think the odds of getting caught are pretty slim. I've got a few more miles to log before I try.
  23. Once again, thanks to this forum I did not replace my Yuasa battery yesterday with another Yuasa. The best deal I can find on a PC545 is $250 and 2 weeks shipping. I'm not waiting 2 weeks.
  24. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Doesn't matter how many times I read that, I just can't. The lure of Doccs promise of a better running bike. Might as well be selling drugs. Ya, I did read the good advice about hooking up a battery tender when messing with Guzzidiag. But it will just be a couple minutes. Today I'm buying a battery.
