  3. Just found this minutes ago while planning the next 10 days of free outdoor Jazz. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M6QOh_og_po I'm more low RPM these days, but I'll always love Zappa.
  4. Good maintenance prevents failures. There wouldn't be an airline industry otherwise. Took them a long time to figure it out. I used to maintain emergency backup power systems. There was zero tolerance for failure. My personal stuff does fail. There is no way I'm going to spend the time and money needed to guarantee I'll ride home. Just pulled a nail out of my tire. Now I'm packing spare plugs but I don't have a pump. It never ends.

    Almost decent

Thanks for the info. Just need to set the TPS , sync the TBs and I'll be running decent. THEN I'll take my time and figure out how the mapping works. How to remap your bike for CARC, Breva 750, V7 Classic, California 1100 is full of good info, but leaves me with many more questions. So low CO is lean and higher is richer. My bike is idling rich when warm at -100 CO. I'm guessing someone has re mapped it. Like you say Docc, all this only applies to under 3000 rpm. That's an easy problem to fix, and yet I'm happy with how the bike runs. I could swear the front wheel left the ground yesterday going into second.
  7. Getting ready for round 2 with Guzzidiag. Everything connected as it should, and I got good data for 15 minutes while waiting for the the bike to warm up. First question. Why can't the TPS voltage be used to set the TPS under the same test conditions? Then Following instructions to obtain CO never got me to the screen with - CO+ with an actual CO reading. I was prompted to start the bike while it was running, and to hit the kill switch when it was not running. I Un-powered everything and started over, a couple times. Somewhere through it all a number of -107 showed up. I used to enjoy doing this stuff, but would now gladly trade it all for a pair of Webers. What is the relation between CO and fuel mixture? Lower numbers = leaner? Any graphs / maps in existence that show whats going on? Has anyone compared CO with O2 Lambda? I do still have a wideband oxygen sensor with meter I used back in my smarter days. My bike is running a little rich at idle, which I'm OK with. Most factory setting problems are due to being set too lean. What will change by raising the CO? I'm sure this is all old info for you guys, but my search results are always listed with the new first. Thanks
  8. So I got to ride that V11 I acquired a few weeks back. Soon as the rain started Customs handed over my Voltage Regulator. Dam is this bike fast. Leaves me bantering in a silly state of mind. I'm going to like this!
  9. Mine have just the screw without any washer. Should I add an o-ring?
  10. Made a pair of hose barbs with 6mm threads on one end. These are to balance the carbs, someday when my regulator arrives. Any one know what these are called? And Strange but true. Was in my favorite locksmith shop to get a spare guzzi key made. That's when I discovered it was lost. Later in the day I found it in a parking lot!

    Relay mounts

What do you guys think of these? Hard-wire them in somewhere and forget about them. These are so overkill that heat should not be a problem.
  12. Hey look! Is that a 120 watt Dean Markley under the tool bag? For some reason I don't have a wife, but I do have twin 11 liter v8 cat diesels under my floor. Could I have a Guzzi type personality? Should I be worried?
  13. So I finally found my way over to the largest posting on this forum. After a week of working on my bike, this fixes everything. Keep up the good work.
  14. Bought this new. And then there was another one....

    Relay mounts

Thanks for showing how they should be mounted. Their also all the same 25A relays, but unlike fuses the bigger the better. There is nothing shown in the manual about ratings. The largest fuse is 20A for the lights, but they have all been changed to LEDs. I will take good forum advice and carry spares.
  16. I've found one posting that mentioned a problem with relay mounts, but I still have some questions. On my bike 2 of the relays are mounted to the frame, and they still bounce around. The other 3 slide back and forth while not being fixed in place. Much like putting them in a paint shaker. Is this normal? I don't believe the quality of the relays has anything to do with failures. They are fragile mechanical devices with moving parts and very thin wires. When you open them up are they broken or burned? I'll be gluing in some foam. Solid state relays would solve this issue but take up more space. Any suggestions? Thanks
  17. That old tractor is perfect, and so is the girl. Thanks
  18. I've followed the links on this site to download the Workshop Manual. I've done this a few times hoping to get better resolution. The problem is just one page, the electrical diagram. I can't read the details. Does anyone have a good copy? Thanks
  19. This is a great post! Be nice if someone could turn this forum into a giant coffee table book.

    Purely cosmetic

After a short search I thought I would ask once again. Just need a few more points. I'm too dam old to be a rookie. Looking for ideas to improve the looks of my bike. I know this is a very subjective thing, but that makes it even better when seeing a wider range of ideas. My preferences are to see more red and less silver. This was a quick and easy start. Has anyone put racing stripes, pin-striping, 2 tone, etc on tank or fenders?
  21. This looks like a great place to share my daily adventures. After a couple of wasted hours trying to remove the coils, I chose a task with less swearing. Bit of red on the valve covers.
  22. And finally, the punch line. Any of you who have removed a speedometer will have been waiting for this moment when I go to install the speedo, with an epoxied shaft sticking out. I'd like to say I'm usually smarter than this, but the truth is I've learned to be creative with my mistakes. I'm looking forward to some interesting dash mods.
  23. My history in electronics repair leads me to believe that sensors, or any electrical components last longer with good electrical connections. Intermittent connections cause voltage spikes and current surges. I'll be unplugging connectors and shooting in some cleaner. Worth noting that my experience goes back to the days of LUCAS wiring and warm beer.
  24. I did read that posting. As if putting on a new tire wasn't bad enough.
  25. Thats amazing. Good maintenance pays off.
