  1. One more bit of information. The enamel coating on the needle was separating and about to fall off. Getting this crap into the moving parts would certainly cause trouble.
  2. Wandering about the site like a rookie I've noticed a few high mileage bikes. Be interesting to know how many. Would be even better to know how many miles before a top end rebuild, full rebuild, clutch. etc. If anyone's keeping track, just point the way. Thanks
  3. When I got the bike the grommet was missing and the reset shaft was bent. Trip odometer not working. Bit of dirt inside. With 37,000 miles on the meter, everything inside looks like new. No plastic gear wear. After reassembly it all works when driven at 20mph with my drill. Looking forward to testing at 100mph when my regulator shows up.
  4. The shaft is now 3/8 shorter, but I've got a piece of hose to stick on the end. Added a bit of brass where a grommet probably once lived. As a bonus the white needle on a white background has been fixed???
  5. Thanks for the help Speedfrog. I spent way too much time looking thru 450 search results before asking. I just needed to know that the bezel is removable AND replaceable.

  8. The trip odometer was not working when I got the bike. I've removed it and broke the skinny reset shaft. Looks like the only way to get inside is to remove the chrome ring which will wreck it. Has anyone done this?
  9. I've got a few things to fix while waiting for a Voltage regulator to be delivered. Both coils are flopping around in the frame. They appear to have rubber mounts that have broken. Should be easy to zip tie down with some bits of rubber. Is there anything to watch out for such as cooling?

  11. Hello everyone. Just signed up to this site and have already learned a lot. Thanks This 2000 V11 is new to me and I'm going through the usual maintenance and repairs. I would also like to turn up the volume just a bit. This exhaust system is in perfect condition and I'm not going to buy anything new. I'm looking for ideas to modify. The pipes have plugs on the underside which I removed and got some nice crackly, snappin, open header sounds. But too loud. Maybe make some new plugs with smaller holes drilled in them? Maybe install valves to keep me and my neighbors happy? I've removed the muffler end and its all welded inside. I'm also curious about the exhaust parts. It's all stamped Moto Guzzi, but does not look stock. The pipe has an unfamiliar gold/brown color. Would that be titanium or wishful thinking. Art
