Gentlemen, i have followed your advice and my better judgement and gone with the Castrol Actevo, 20/50 semi-synth. That being said, i have 6.5 liters of Motorex Power Synt 10/60 that i'll very likely not ever have any use for. if anyone is interested, i'll sell the unopened 4 liter jug and the other 1.5 liters for $50 + postage. Postage will be exact, i'll box the containers up, take the box to the post office, get an exact price on postage and we can go from there. Thanks again for your help, the plus side to this is now i only have to stock one type of oil for the V11, V7R and the 1967 Royal Enfield Interceptor

Thank you all for your replies, i am waiting on the o.f. wrench from MG Cycle, i sent Andrew a picture of the filter which has 8 flats and he advised me to purchase the wrench i have on order. When you say o.f. gasket, i need to look in my parts book. The cover has a large oil ring. and the filter has one also. When you say gasket what are you referring to?

Thank you, all gentlemen. Myself, i have used Castrol for decades. i'm going to reread your comments before i make a decision as i am waiting for a filter wrench from MGC to remove the filter. the one i had went with my Greenie a few years ago...

as i don't want to start a dreaded oil thread, i have a simple question on synthetic vs petroleum-based. i have 2 gallons of Motorex 4T PowerSynt (synthetic) 10/60 from when i have my '09 CalVin... The Le Mans owner's manual calls for 20/50, but does not note as synthetic, so i am assuming petroleum-based...? i run Castrol semi-synthetic 20/50 in my '11 V7R, of which i have 3 gallons. so, my questions are: 1) would it be ok to run the Motorex 4T PowerSynt (synthetic) 10/60 in the Le Mans? 2) or should i stick with 20/50, and if so, then is it ok to the run Castrol semi-synthetic 20/50? Thanks in advance

Thanks Phil!

@MartyNZ thank you for your comments and parts diagrams. sure makes sense risers i have may be Rosso Mandello... do these taller "under the triple clamp" riser give anymore rise than the "above clamp" short risers? i am guessing negligible if none...?
-
@docc yes, 45 mm rise measured from the top of the pinch clamp to the bottom of the hole for the bar. on the underside of riser is a channel, if this is what you are referring to...? also, a simple oil question, i don't want to start a dreaded oil thread. i have 2 gallons of Motorex 4T PowerSynt (synthetic) 10/60 from when i have my '09 CalVin... The Le Mans owner's manual calls for 20/50 which i am assuming is mineral or mineral/synthetic...? i run Castrol semi-synthetic 20/50 in my '11 V7R, of which i have 3 gallons. so, my questions are: 1) would it be ok to run the Motorex 4T PowerSynt (synthetic) 10/60 in the Le Mans? 2) or should i stick with 20/50, and if so, then is it ok to the run Castrol semi-synthetic 20/50? Thanks in advance

Thanks @docc they're not going anywhere and as they don't work well for my application, if somebody can use 'em, they're available. What is the best setup for getting a modicum of rise and pullback?
-
Thanks @docc ! i have Motorex in my fluids inventory, so i will go with what i've always been using, it's what the dealer serviced machines with.

@docc given the "cling factor," do you think i'd be better off staying with redline?
-
i was a surprised to see this color of oil come out of the transmission... Is it Redline? Or...? I've always used Motorex fluids in my Guzzi's, specifically Motorex 75/90 Prismazx GL-4/5. Do you think filling the trans with Motorex that's mixed in with this residual red stuff will be ok?

These risers came installed my '02 Le Mans, installed backwards, as frontwards fouls fairing. The problem with backwards is the levers could not be turned down, which i'm sure you all know. What model are these risers from? What parts from what model make the best conversion to bring the bars up and back? I installed the original clamps, i'm almost happy with the position, but it is a tiny bit too forward and down, so anything up and back would be nice. please pardon me, this thread should have been posted elsewhere...

Hi Everyone! i am happy to be a member of this forum for this wonderful Moto Guzzi model. i took delivery of this '02 Le Mans i purchased off ebay that came with all the goodies i hoped to find, Throttlemeister, MotoBits, Givi and more. I've been with Guzzi's since 2007, i have a 2011 V7R and sold my '09 CalVin last year, and am glad i found this Le Mans. I'm looking forward to participating with you guys, have been mostly reading topics, but will be more active. Here's a couple pics of my bike. It's been a bit neglected, but nothing that some attention can't make right. Right now, i'm changing fluids, it will need a new set of tires and i'm thinking i'm going to purchase a full Mistral exhaust system. PS. my apologies, this intro should have been posted in "Introductions."

Did some of the 2002 models have aluminum flywheels or did all 2002 models have aluminum flywheels?

Hello All ! Thank you for allowing my membership to this fine forum. This is Steve Swan of Fort Collins, Colorado. Earlier this week, i purchased this 2002 Le Mans off ebay which i am hoping to have in my garage/shop by/before the end of August. It's possible some of you may recognize the bike...? Through sheer will, a move into my new-to-me home March past, and tired of spending, my ebay activity had pretty much came to a standstill. Last week, i happened to be on ebay and Carlo Guzzi only knows what prompted me to type in "Moto Guzzi" and up pops this Le Mans and i go, "Hmmm..." and then i see all the goodies that come with it and i'm pretty sure i recognized the ebay name of the seller in my Wild Guzzi travels. So, seller and i connect and i am the new owner. i feel like i got the deal of a lifetime! Now mind you, i need to sell my 2018 T120, no interest yet... But, hey! I am the happy owner of another V11! i say another V11 because for several years i owned a delicious low mile Greenie that i sold around 4-5 years ago. At the time becoming motorcycle poor (i still have 12 bikes, yes, i have an illness, my red blood cells are shaped like M's) and the Greenie sitting more than being ridden, i sold it. Had an '09 CalVin i bought new, putting miles on it and at the time thinking it would be nice to have a Lemans instead of the CalVin but soon realized finding the luggage i wanted for (at that time) a more than 15 year old bike would be difficult. So, the Greenie went away. Back to last week, before i found this Le Mans, i have been a T120 owner for a year, having sold my CalVin July, 2023 and even though i never had a truly deep connection with the CalVin, i missed it because we'd had a lot of great memories together. So, here we are now, i am so happy and looking forward to having a V11 again that's a Le Mans and with all the goodies that come with it! I'm looking forward to becoming familiar with the forum and getting to know fellow members! Would love to hear from any nearby members in my area!
