My reaction rod has about a mm of up/down play at the frame end, tight at the bevel box end. No obvious wear of the bushing, 3500 miles on the bike. The bolt at the front is marked as 10.9 NORM, which is different than the unmarked rear bolt. The rod and bushing move together w/ respect to the bolt, as if the bolt diameter is too small. No washers or spacers on the bolt head or on the nut end. I would like to remove the bolt for inspection, but not sure how much disassembly is necessary. Wheel off, drive supported etc. Or can it removed with the bike on the sidestand? Thanks for any guidance.

I now see that change in another schematic, fuse 5 power goes to pin 30 of the headlight relay, start relay pin 30 from switched ignition. That change is on the 2002 models? I was hoping to wait until winter maintenance to remove the tank for a wiring inspection (my sidestand switch has been removed, want a look at the jumper, also want to inspect regulator connections, bullet connectors) and a general see what's what. Don't want to miss prime riding weather due to cranking that sticky manual fuel shut off and creating a gas leak.

As I am old, simple and half blind, I wanted a simple, easy to read start circuit diagram to load into my phone to refer to if stuck somewhere with no cell service. Might be helpful to others trying to remember how the circuit is laid out w/o a schematic in front of them. assuming it is drawn correctly etc.

Is your pic from the Cars and Coffee meet yesterday? I drove thru later in the morning, apparently too late. I think I'm going for coffee and homemade pie in Glenwood WA tomorrow (via Klickitat) if anyone else is in the mood. Hopefully an early start before morning traffic will mean an early return before afternoon rush.

Thx Phil, and just spray WD-40 in the needle bearing, followed by marine grease?

Wanted to have a look at the rear transmission and get some grease into the evil 3rd zerk. Took a couple of hours to assemble new front wheel chock, modify an old paddock stand, install some ceiling anchors, and get the wheel off. Took twice that long to get the zerk to take grease What is the best way to clean up these corroded parts? I wasn't going to remove the swingarm, but now thinking that would be the way to go. Or can it wait until winter maintenance season?

Removing the filter pods and zip tying a few wires out of the way gave just enough access, glad that's done!

Build date 6-2000, titled as 2001. Tabs -check no crack or leaks Braces still available, I ordered one 2 weeks ago, he still had some on the shelf, arrived today. Doing some cursing warmups tonight so I can curse in sentences tomorrow.

You are correct, sir. I wasn't sure it was needed, but it was. Works as well as described, I'm continually impressed by what a bunch of handy and generous fellows hang out here. A big thank you to Chuck and Lucky Phil and everyone involved for providing this upgrade to some random stranger on the internet.

Thanks for the info, hadn't heard of C and C before, I'll try and swing by on Italian Day. No coffee snobbery here, just an average knucklehead all the way around -

I don't disagree with any of the points you make, especially the engine break-in comments. That seems to be the conventional wisdom for a while now. I had no idea whether a gearbox would improve with use, but it seemed worthy of hoping. Your opinion there makes me glad I have an extender ordered and am prepared to follow the process you posted in the shifter mod thread if necessary. Thanks for all of that by the way. I definitely get better shifting on this bike with a more focused and deliberate technique, my sometimes lazy efforts just don't fly, wanker shifts brought on by more forgiving Japanese bikes I suppose. All of this verbiage and what I mostly meant with my comment was "yes, I scored a sweet very low mileage bike"!

Maybe I could get some grease in that 3rd zerk! -

Hey there fellow Portland V11 riders, very nice bikes! Note to self - keep an eye on the events forum -
My same thought...still getting broken in. MPG is about 38 right now, don't know how much that improves, especially with air filter pods. Smoother shifting would be welcome, but I have an extender ordered also. Diminished vibrations at the grips would be good, but the Grip Puppies I put on helped out there. Overall, I couldn't be more pleased with how much I enjoy riding this thing.

I've put about 1200 on it since I got it a few weeks ago, all the way up to 3200 total.

After an agonizing conversation with the same guy who insisted there was no recall on my bike, he finally revealed that "the only claim filed was a flexible hose kit". He was surprised to learn that "hose" was a transmission component and that, in fact, was the recall. Completed in 2007. Much joy, at least on my end

I used the customer care link at piaggio.com. Appears to be the same phone number as your earlier post. Maybe I'll try a phone call and ask for Steven E. No goober quality sealant on mine, but seems that could vary from tech to tech.

While I am impressed by how quickly customer service responded to my email, I'm a bit confused as to their response: "Hello, Thank you for reaching out to Moto Guzzi USA customer care department and for providing the vin. After running the vin, we see this vehicle has not been affected by any recall. Thank you," I certainly hope they are right and I have overlooked something.

Cool indeed, maybe the coolest of all. Learning is half the fun, especially when the quality of info is as high as what is offered here After many years of owning and enjoying several flavors of Honda VFRs, it feels safe to say "they all have their problems"

I just emailed Piaggio customer service and specifically mentioned Steven Espinoza's fine detective work performed for you. Thanks for providing that info, hoping it speeds up resolving the mystery.

so much to learn...
