  1. Ah ha! Good advice. Believe I could stack my old cylinder protectors as a guide. k
  2. Ok, thanks...last couple of threads finally gave up. k
  3. Think I see the answer in an earlier thread...Helicoil M6 coarse for valve covers, right? k
  4. Made the circuit this afternoon up to Tellico Plains, down 68 to Ducktown, and back west on 64/72. Really a great ride. Looking forward to next month. k
  5. I agree...loose insulation sucked against my air breather has slowed me down more than once...cleaning the filter as Docc suggests is a good idea as well. k
  6. David, have you made any modifications?...do you have an open top air box? Are there any other symptoms except the "lugging" under hard acceleration in 3/4? k
  7. Thick aluminum foil/cardboardish multi-fold panel that is glued to the underside of the tank. Mine has pulled off more than once causing me to have to pull tank on side of road to duct tape it for return trip (now a challenge with ethanol pollution in tank). Something to check whenever you have the tank off. The Scotch spray glue will generally hold it in place for a year. k
  8. Mason, do you have an open top filter arrangement? If so, consider pulling your tank again to see if the heat shield underneath the tank has begun to come free...with an open top filter, it will eventually suck loose and cut your air off (which reminds me that I need to check mine again). k
  9. Its a good question to ask. The later models have the fuel pump in the tank right? I know you can get a replacement filter for an early model v11 at pretty much any auto parts store as it is also used for some cars. Ok, you've got me on that one...didn't know of an in-tank fuel pump on later models. Mine is definitely external-sorry if I confused things. k
  10. Mine between 22 and 24K...odometer died at 16K...gotta get the speedo head to the shop.
  11. I went through about half a dozen of the cheapos from Walmart before I decided to try something else...I cannot find the receipt, but am reasonably sure the one I have now came from JC WHitney...only part number I can find is stencilled on front...XN0-1. This one stood up to continued outside exposure to Tampa FL sun and salt. k
  12. I have used Fram G4777 and Purolator F43178 with equal success. I do not know if there is a diff between Sport and Lemans for this particular part...I'd suspect them to be the same. k
  13. Very good, Scott. Look forward to seeing you at Raid this year. kim
  14. Waved to someone on what looked like a red Lemans today as I blew by...I was late for the house. Fellow had just pulled into a tire store lot on the south side of Madisonville, TN on TN-411. Anyone? k
  15. 2001 V11 Sport Rosso Mandello #244 (PCIIIusb, Stucchi X, FbF open Airbox, MPH Bar Risers, Michelin Pilot Roads, Rich Maund seat/pegs, dlapierre saddle blanket, MG tank bag, handwarmers, Rossopurro sliders, OdyPC545). Typical bubbles in black engine coating. Apprx 24K miles...odometer quit at 16K. Ridden in all conditions...not a pristine garage queen, but in overall good shape. $4250 USD obo. PM me for starters. Kim
  16. I had a similar mismatch when I first checked mine...I backed off all four rockers to ensure valves were closed for a recheck and numbers fell in place. I'd try that before going very much further...sorry if I missed that in the thread. Keep smiling. k
  17. Very good tips here...I want to do mine as well, but would never have considered previous wax/polish as being a concern. Cheers! k
  18. I am interested in responses to this as well...at only 5'10", the riding position folds my 50something knees so tight that I am quite sore after an hour in the saddle. I would think they need to go down an inch at a minimum. Alternative is looking more and more like a trade to something with more room. k
  19. Docc, noting your effort and comments early in this string...I think your solution is something I should attempt with my bike, unless someone has the GM part # as a more direct path. I have about given up riding in Jul-Sep here due to the heat and poor low throttle manners. k
  20. XL LS T here. k
  21. "if that sword was typical of equipment quality"....it is...
  22. I have three grandkids as muscle for the power generator...uh, is that child abuse?
  23. poor Chuck...if he could've remembered where he laid that rifle down, he'd been in good shape.
  24. I agree with our forum mates above...last time I had mine apart, I put it back with a very light sheen of a disc brake wb grease I had on hand. Can't hurt. k
  25. I'd be interested in knowing how the 70's work out...have to do a major teardown this summer when too hot to ride. Docc, did you find poly bushings for V11 somewhere?
