  1. I did a test ride after PCIII diddling the other day with just my Rocket jacket, gloves, helmet and boots...wearing blue jeans instead of my Rocket pants. Felt nekked and dumb, although nothing happened. Target fixation happens...and is always exciting because we forget that it happens until it is upon us...had a near miss last week. Glad you are okay. Revalidates my commitment to full gear. k
  2. I liked it...I don't know about all that production stuff. k
  3. I had a hard time with the Stucchi X-over and stock cans as well. Believe there is a thread on this particular item and that the cause is potentially the X-over being more square than the OEM which may have allowed for the right (starboard for you Sailors) header pipe being set back further due to cylinder arrangement. I seem to recall a couple of people saying they had shortened said starboard pipe a bit to straighten the whole thing out. I've been meaning to do this myself, but find that as long as the weather is good I'd rather ride than tinker. I do have some carbon at a couple of my pipe fittings indicating some leakby and have read that the leaks could cause a lean condition in the motor...since I seem to be forever tweaking my PCIII map, maybe it is time to fix my pipes? What do you think? k
  4. Yeah, THAT is cool! And I was just about to buy hard bags...maybe I really want a trailer. Btw, I see you have driving/fog lights. Are they actually mounted to your caliper bolts, was it a straight forward fit, and if so, what brand/model are they? I would rather see the deer before they are in the road in front of me. k
  5. But Docc, don't you find yourself often slipping into Tennessean, dropping the "T" to say "GOO-ZEE"? So much easier for the girl at Tractor Supply Company to understand. k
  6. This is great! I will use it for today's training spam. k
  7. I have Stucchi with stock cans. Do not remember there being much difference in sound level when I changed. It did help with the midrange flat spot. Power commander added later for finer tune, which seems to have made bit of diff in riding feel as well. Open air filter mod has turned out to be biggest noise maker mod so far. k
  8. Concur, my tap (port side) leaks even when closed...I push a rubber cap over it as soon as I remove the hose...the relief (to stbd) doesn't leak, but the line typically is full of gas. Don't forget the two vacuum lines up under the center of the tank. k
  9. Jock, just had similar problem as you described...my neutral light was also out. Taking the wire from the neutral switch caused everything to work again, so I replaced the neutral switch. Recommend you look there given your indications. k

    HELP !

Ross, I've had similar symptoms over the last couple of months, which turned out to be (I hope), some combination of the following...which I ended up "fixing" along the way: --aluminumized cardboard insulator sucked off bottom of gas tank into open air filter (again) --bad neutral switch --bad plugs (ok, maybe not, but it cured the immediate problem) --bad shot of gas...change fuel filter and cleaned screen at tank pickup...this made most significant gain in the right direction. k
  11. If I could be more like my dog, what a great person I would be! My condolences Richard...I still miss the dog friends that have passed. k
  12. Under the heading of "it all depends"...the cracking may be purely cosmetic, but the cracks in mine would draw carb cleaner with the engine running---this at 4200 miles. If yours are drawing outside air, your bike won't run right. k
  13. Name that street corner and establishment...I may have need of it.
  14. Sadly, this is much the same logic train I am coming up with...
  15. I put the light in my bevel a couple of months ago...have a qt of heavy to change it out now that hot weather is moving in, and have a qt of light to change out gearbox, which currently has the 75/90MT. Looks like the ticket to me...now if I can find my local Amsoil salesman for 20x50, I'll be in business. k
  16. UFIs...remove the pan so you can be sure of your grip on filter (sorry---NONE of the assorted filter wrenches I've purchased for this purpose seem to work well)...overtighten it by hand (end up using big channel locks to remove). Ride. Worked on my '79...still doing it on the '01. k
  17. Stopped at Atlantic Motorsports Saturday and they have Tenni #140 in the showroom ($9999 USD)...reportedly brought in as trade on a Norge. It has quite a bit of dust on it and 64 miles on the clock. Someone convince me I shouldn't trade the Rosso Mandello on it. k
  18. Shawn, 3M spray glue...strong stuff. I've had this happen twice and it sure takes the kick out of the bike. k
  19. Yes. k
  20. Looks like the forks are recessed specifically for the puck. I'm interested now...going to have to research this a bit. Btw, I have the RossoPuro cylinder head sliders, which may be sufficient to protect your fairing when combined with a good set of bar ends (I like them, but they receive mixed reviews from those more artistic). Pls email me if you break the code on the fork sliders. k
  21. Lee, thanks. k
  22. Me? I'd carry the yellow into the pinstripes vice white, and go with a black rear fender. Would look about right with my yellow trimmed leathers. Although an imaginative and artistic touch, I think I'd forego the double bladed axe gear shift. k
  23. B, are those 30 or 42L bags? k
  24. It's inspired! I like it. k
