  1. Hey Supertwin! If we did this in Canada there would be no one left (or right) in the government!!! Also heard that I may get my MGS in January but they have to send the mechanic down to Georgia to get trained first. I think I want to go and get trained myself because I know I will be the only one working on my bike (if I really do get it!).
  2. As Callithrix says I have the same problem with my 01 rosso mandello with FBF 11:1 pistons. If I do not have the optimal fuel I must keep the revs up to avoid pinging. However when I have the proper fuel this is not an issue. I do want to add that I am not an advocate of asking my engine to deliver maximum power at low RPM's. Horsepower is a function of RPM so if I want to go fast I rev it up!
  3. I have FBF suposed 11:1 pistons. They are way too much fun but thanks for being at straubing=S Want to see you on the the taiga. Woe ist die target?
  4. Great. Now I have to give directions to a place I go every week ( and more). Dakota's restaurant is close to downtown Chilliwack. Behinnd the Dairy Queen as I say! I wish I could reccomend it to every one but that would be crossing the lines of business. (meaning come all!!) Ciao everybody!
  5. For your information! Mamacita will have the crossover at Dakota's restaurant at about 0930 pacific time. I hope that all wil be OK and if you ever want to eat at Dakota's I will get you a great deal ( she owns it)!! Let me know if all works out and we should meet at Dakota's some day!
  6. I put mine on my helmet so I could watch all the lights flash on and off. Then I got tired of plugging it in and out.
  7. You don't have high test gas in CA? I admit I have been caught a couple of times where I couldn't get high test so I put in a bit of regular and kept the revs way up until I could get some good gas. For me it was no problem. Just like my 11:1 pistons but you didn't say what it was like above that. My bike has no loss at high RPM (maybe a little gain - I hope). Closing up the exhaust will limit top end power. I still like to wind it out even if it is only a pushrod aircooled twin!
  8. I would have to agree because in a straight line run my V11 with 11:1 pistons isn't signifigantly faster than ones without ( and with similar mods - PCIII, Exhaust). However! I know for certain riding against the same bikes that I have a HUGE increase in midrange power - as anyone who knows what increased compression changes will do for a bike. Higher compression has never been a way to more horsepower. It is a way to more efficiency. It is probably the best way to increase fuel efficiency. It also makes the bike much more fun to ride - as in "seat of the pants". I will reccomend it to anyone! P.S. I would like to hear how Al's Mike Rich kit works out. My FBF pistons were such an easy job to install. I cannot imagine why everyone else has not done it yet!!
  9. I've got about 6,000 km on my Rosso Mandello with FBF 11:1 pistons and no oil coming out anywhere at anytime! It is lots of fun to ride though.
  10. ...and YES to a Monza track day!!!!!
  11. Count me in!!! I have already talked one other Guzzi rider here in British Columbia about freighting our bikes over. If we get six the freight charges are signifcantly cheaper. I will get some rates and post them here to see if others will be interested. Maybe my MGS will be ready then and I can pick it up!
  12. I may have mentioned this before but I get my best and worst gas mileage after installing 11:1 pistons, AND way more fun.
  13. I hate gas mileage claims. How about some top speed claims or quarter mile claims. I'm going to take mmy bike to the dragstrip next chance I get.
  14. Yeah, I know! Does he have any more for sale? I gotta buy something fast yet archaic.
  15. Latest word on the MGS from the Intermot show. That means they only have five but are producing 50 more in October. I guess when I ordered mine last summer and they said it would be here in November they really meant it. They just didn't say which year.
  16. Amen brother. Amen!!!
  17. I don't know what the threshold would be but it would be measured as a function of manifold pressure versus rpm. High manifold pressure at low rpm is bad.
  18. I just checked out this website and it is very informative. The break in procedure is very similar to the aircraft piston engine procedure. Another very similar point is aircraft engines use mineral oil for break in then it is changed after about 5 to 10 hours run in time. Then after the first 100 hours of running any type of approved oil may be used. the MotoTuneUSA website reccommends similar for bike engines. I know what I'll be doing with my MGS when I get it!!! With that many parts flying in formation together you are referring to a helicopter of course!
  19. With tassles!!!
  20. Aircraft piston engines are broken in by making a max power (ie full throttle) climb to about 12,000 feet then slowly backing the throttle off and perhaps repeated one more time so there is about 30 minutes total. Then the engine is deemed 'broken in'! This ensures the rings are seated properly and the maximum power will be produced.
  21. I couldn't have said it better (or longer) than hgravelpha@aol.com! That said I know some guys put a piece of lockwire in the needle and heat them with a torch and bend them.
  22. Can you maybe hint at them?
  23. Zerk fittings are common on aircraft so if you have trouble finding a needle fitting for your grease gun you could try a maintenance shop at the nearest airport. Another trick is to bend the needle fitting to 90 degrees to get into tight spots. Aircraft mechanics have been doing this for many years.
  24. I'm working in Nakusp right now so I can go check for you. I'll even ride it to your place if you want. I'll be there in about, oh, 2 or 3 weeks!!
  25. is spelled heterogeneous
