  1. Has anyone purchased a carbon fibre rear fender and what do they think of it?
  2. Well maybe I slightly embellished but I still appreciate the overall results reported by IanJ. My Rosso seems to get poorer fuel economy overall even though the 11:1 pistons made some improvement. I believe it is because of my riding style. Wheelies and burnouts do not get you 50 mpg!!! So you wish to have an Electonica, eh? I have a 1974 but with points. I commend your wish even if it will be hard to fill.
  3. This is a bad thing to do to any engine whether broken in or not! It is technically a function of manifold pressure versus RPM but what it means is DO NOT use full throttle at low revs, ie. 4000 or below. It puts massive strain on engine components for no realistic performance gain.
  4. You had better. We are all waiting with baited breath!
  5. Sorry to hear that some of you have problems with wrinkle paint. I have an '01 Rosso Mandello - probably the first of the wrinkle paint and so far it is in fantastic condition. I have used my steam cleaner at least 10 times now and not a single problem with paint lifting off. The only noticeable problem seems to be a small stone chip but it has been there over a year and so far no change.
  6. I suppose you are right that most are honest but what sticks in my mind are the reports of guys riding 80 to 90 mph and getting 45 to 50 mpg. I know that that is pushing the truth.
  7. Nice to see some honest fuel mileage reports there. I feel that some of the claims other people are giving are all selected from their high figures and the low ones ignored. Here is a gentleman who shows all the up and downs of his fuel mileage and the overall average. It looks a lot like the numbers I get when I bother to check except I can get the low results without anyone having to drain off a gallon. Cheers to IanJ!!!!!
  8. Sorry to hear that. I have not had any problems with my paint except that any oil or bugs were hard to get off until I discovered the steam cleaner. If your engine paint is that fragile i would not rccomend the steam cleaner. I hope you find recourse to your problem through the warranty or your dealer.
  9. Ahh, I remember now. Very nice bike.
  10. Where are these pictures of the Folgore? The thread is so big I can't find them.
  11. Maybe the 600RR rider at Brno ate at the Hula Hut and had shit in his diapers!
  12. Nope - no lumps yet!
  13. One week to go and I am off to Germany and then Italy! Since I cannot find an opportunity to rent a Guzzi, I will have to settle for the Audi TT Roadster I have booked! I wonder if they have speed governors on rentals? I'll find out on the Autobahn. Hope to have some good pictures of Mandello!!
  14. I'm going to put a CD player on mine so I can play 'Ride of the Valkyries'when I blow by all the 600RR's.
  15. I wonder if anyone will make DB killers for the MGS? A sure way to go out of business!!
  16. I find it quite interesting that in the race results posted above from the race in Brno that the Honda 600RR was 2 minutes 9.468 seconds slower than the slowest MGS-01- and in only ten laps! However the two MGS's were beat by a GSXR 1000 and a Ducati 749 - are not 749's racing in Formula Extreme too?
  17. We need a special class for slow Italian bikes. Very loud exhaust required!!! And no Honda 600RR's allowed!!!!!
  18. You are right - I did mention Formula Extreme, while at the same time acknowledging the 600's rule the class. I don't recall mentioning that the 600RR would have trouble running with me - that would be ludicrous. However I am prepared to be proven wrong if you can show me where. Yes I did mean more horsepower than my V11 - I havn't dynoed it but I would be surprised if it made 87 rearwheel HP. I would LOVE to have more HP!! As for racing on public roads - well I'm not too good at that. That is why I prefer to do wheelies or top speed runs on a deserted stretch of road but as for racing? No thanks!
  19. Check it out! I havn't mentioned HP numbers yet but you have, so check yourself before you write sometime. Plus where have I said I'm buying it to kick someones ass on tarmac? I said I want the MGS because it has more horsepower than the V11 and for many other reasons, mostly just because I want to! So do you get it yet? I don't want to race anyone unless I choose to and if I do it will be on a racetrack and if I fail miserably I will blame it on me - NOT the bike. If I want to race professionally I would make a much different choice but that is not what I am going to do. I am going to enjoy riding the bike of MY choice and I hope everyone else can do the same without worrying about the way someone else thinks.
  20. You don't get it do you? If I want to spend my money it will be to my standards - not yours. I have probably wasted a million dollars by your standards but then your standards don't mean squat to me. I will enjoy myself at my own expense.
  21. Don't forget that babies also shit their diapers quite often and I have not done that for 45 years and I don''t expect to for another 45 years to come. However when I do get my MGS I suggest that you find yourself one of those kids on a properly tuned Honda 600RR and we'll put it to the test. Or better still YOU ride the 600. I don't expect any tears or faeces in either case but I know how happy I will be. I'll have my Horsepower, top speed and handling. I'll have to let you know in a few years about longevity. Cheers
  22. I take it you are suggesting that we make our own choices, correct? I have already made that choice and from what the dealer says so have a lot of other people so I don't believe Guzzi is targeting the wrong people. Besides - I want a Guzzi with top speed, big HP numbers, handling and longevity!
  23. I wonder if anyone has run straight pipes on their V11? That would be so cool sounding!! Just like the MotoGP bikes!!
  24. Verily, I say, she doth smite my heart with joy!
  25. The FBF 11:1 pistons are slightly heavier but better matched in weight. The midrange is much more responsive but not so much at higher rpm's.
