  1. AHAH! (.. and thank you..)
  2. A quest for whisky in Ireland would be a most rewarding journey, not least of which would be the fine whisky there but you may find more than your fair share of good craic as well!!
  3. So who do we have to knock off to liberate everything to line our pockets? Just where is the money?
  4. I was hoping for a new thread on limp home mode for ECU's.
  5. Whisky for drinking - bourbon for unwanted guests. (Neither of them put me in limp home mode. That is reserved for good beer or fine wine!)
  6. Hmmmm. The pillion handle was a popular option on Puch's but I don't recall a model like this.
  7. The financial crisis explained in simple terms: Heidi is the proprietor of a bar in Berlin. In order to increase sales, she decides to allow her loyal customers - most of whom are unemployed alcoholics - to drink now but pay later. She keeps track of the drinks consumed on a ledger (thereby granting the customers loans). Word gets around and as a result increasing numbers of customers flood into Heidi's bar. Taking advantage of her customers' freedom from immediate payment constraints, Heidi increases her prices for wine and beer, the most-consumed beverages. Her sales volume increases massively. A young and dynamic customer service consultant at the local bank recognizes these customer debts as valuable future assets and increases Heidi's borrowing limit. He sees no reason for undue concern since he has the debts of the alcoholics as collateral. At the bank's corporate headquarters, expert bankers transform these customer assets into DRINKBONDS, ALKBONDS and PUKEBONDS. These securities are then traded on markets worldwide. No one really understands what these abbreviations mean and how the securities are guaranteed. Nevertheless, as their prices continuously climb, the securities become top-selling items. One day, although the prices are still climbing, a risk manager (subsequently of course fired due his negativity) of the bank decides that slowly the time has come to demand payment of the debts incurred by the drinkers at Heidi's bar. However they cannot pay back the debts. Heidi cannot fulfil her loan obligations and claims bankruptcy. DRINKBOND and ALKBOND drop in price by 95 %. PUKEBOND performs better, stabilizing in price after dropping by 80 %. The suppliers of Heidi's bar, having granted her generous payment due dates and having invested in the securities are faced with a new situation. Her wine supplier claims bankruptcy, her beer supplier is taken over by a competitor. The bank is saved by the Government following dramatic round-the-clock consultations by leaders from the governing political parties. The funds required for this purpose are obtained by a tax levied against the non-drinkers. Finally an explanation I understand . . .
  8. Moto Guzzi still alive in the Fraser Valley of British Columbia. Looks like the problems are being addressed. Many glitches with parts orders but assurances that the problem is being rectified.
  9. That is less than what insurance would cost for one month here in British columbia!!
  10. LoJack would probably qualify for a $20 discount off the $1500 per year that The Insurance Corporation of British Columbia charges. That is with a 40% discount. There is the option of having collision and comprehensive with private insurers but liability must be with ICBC and it will cost over $1000 before discount. ICBC sucks! edit - just discovered LoJack cost $899 for the first year!
  11. San-Sou-Pap? Rhonson? Radiola? Le Grimpeur? La Francaise Diamant?
  12. Is it manufactured in eastern europe?
  13. I'll be visiting today to see if things have ben patched up or botched beyond repair. Jim
  14. So if there is a flaw or fault with the oil temp sensor will it cause the ECU to go to limp home mode?
  15. One of the dealers here in BC may not be a dealer anymore. Fed up with receiving the wrong parts over and over again.
  16. Is that not your job to complete the project? Come on - it is us who makes it a real bike!!!
  17. WHATEVER!!! Where do I sign up! Mandello del Lario is where it is at! What else is there??
  18. Done ...plus lowly 1's for all the other bikes. It was tough putting a 'one' for the Rapide and the Velo' sprinter and many of the other bikes were quite nice while some were .....you know. Looking at the ratings the Guzzi is in the hunt but so is an R1 and a few others including a hayabusa with a 4 and a half star rating. I think he has his friends voting for him also. I hope this makes it to all the other Guzzi forums!!
  19. I will send you a PM. I see Gord 3 or 4 times a week and we ride together fairly often. He mentioned the delemna you encountered on your trip (your ride report was awesome). Gord has gone out of his way to help any travellers riding any make of motorcycle. He was also the most important part of making the MGS I own a reality. I have a tremendous respect for both Gords !!
