  1. It's Ah Puch From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia In Maya mythology, Ah Puch was the God of Death and King of Metnal, the underworld, which was the worst of all nine hells. He was depicted as a skeleton or corpse adorned with bells, sometimes the head of an owl; even today, some Mexicans and Central Americans believe that an owl's screeches signify imminent death... as the following saying, in local Spanish, indicates: Cuando el tecolote canta... el indio muere (When the great owl sings, the Indian dies) It is also known as Hun ahau (where the first /a/ is sometimes omitted if the words are pronounced continuously).
  2. A similar event happened to a friend of mine in France. He was delivering a helicopter purchased from the Omani military and was painted in desert camouflage. My friend was born to Chinese parents in Calcutta, India. He was raised in England and has a Canadian passport. He has flown in Canada for over 30 years and wears cowboy boots and smokes a pipe (sometimes while flying). He was directed to land at the civilian airport by Nice - only 3 miles away from a military airport where he landed mistakenly. When the soldiers saw a military aircraft land unannounced they quickly surrounded him and when this starnge looking Chinaman with bizarre credentials and wearing cowboy boots stepped out they were sure they had a terrorist!! His inability to speak French and his strange English accent seemed to confirm their suspicions and he was jailed for 36 hours while they located a Chinese interpreter. Eventually he was bailed out by one of the French pilots who he was working with our company.
  3. I prefer to have my helmet polished, not painted.
  4. Glad you found the problem. Sorry it won't be cheap. Hope to see you on the road soon!! Jim

  7. I'm at the hangar today. I'll nick a couple and send you one if you want. PM me with your address. P.S. All I need for clearance here is my Guzzi. They know me well and I give them a few wheelies now and then to keep their favour!!
  8. Are there any airports nearby? Most aircraft use the same type fittings and so you could quite likely find out where to get a needle fitting at most airports that have a maintenance facility. It may be called a zirk fitting as well. Good luck!! Jim
  9. Does the stress decrease after 500 miles? It is wear that is the concern. Stress doesn't change.
  10. Similar to the movie The Right Stuff. In that movie you are led to believe that Chuck Yeager goes horseback riding one night, see's the X-1 for the very first time and then breaks his ribs before jumping in the X-1 the next day and breaking the speed of sound. In reality he studied the plane for weeks before flying it and then flew it for many weeks before setting the speed record at over mach one. Hollywood has a way of condensing reality into the 2 hours alotted for our movies and it is very rarely real!!
  11. Me too but I started too late and all the good bits are gone!! What did I miss? At least PM me! Never mind. I found it. Whatever.
  12. Bugger! Sorry to hear that. My friend had an RC51 come off the bench a while back and it had just been running so he got 3rd degree burns on his arms trying to save it. 2 grand worth of parts out of his pocket for the customers bike. PM me with your parts list. I can scrape up a few bits in my garage. Maybe see you at Cafe Calabria?
  13. I'll have ya doin' wheelies yet!!! Good stuff and can't wait to meet up with you and go riding!! Jim
  14. I really liked the gif of dlaing and ratchet though. I suppose that will have to make its way to the global warming thread somehow. Perhaps you could have the salesman call Pete Roper so that he could have it explained to him properly that the Ballabio does not have 102 rear wheel hp. Did the salesman also tell you that it would wheely in 3rd gear just using throttle? Anyways, I'm really glad you enjoyed the ride and I hope whatever you buy brings you lots of fun!! Cheers Jim
