Wash it once with dish soap and warm water using a soft rag. Then wash again with a little less dish soap and a wee bit of vinegar. Finally wash again with very very mild dish soap and warm water then rinse bike thoroughly but never with pressure. Towel dry, start bike and go for a very short ride with rapid accelleration and decelleration to shake water out of nooks and crannies. Towel dry bike again and then get out the plexus or 210 spray (an aviation product the same as plexus but strangely 1/3 the price) and polish up all the smooth parts. Then go get it dirty again!!
I also agree with Steve that if you take the time to use a little elbow grease and maybe some pipe cleaners and toothbrushes you will have a bike worth showing anyone. I don't do it often but maybe once a month I go over it like that and I also take the time to check all the fasteners as well. I havn't found anything major but I have noticed sidecover screws a bit loose and one of the swingarm covers screws backing out.
...... and some very interesting recipes, like Uncle Willies Swamp Cabbage Stew, Hoppin' John, Limpin' Susie and even a recipe for Corn Off the Cob!. I just need to find me some fatback, hog jowls and okra and I'm a cookin'!
I would like to see a tastier looking version of a Quat D for the Griso - not just a box with a spigot clapped to the bottom. I think if they had something a little slicker for the V11 that would be more popular too.
I reckon the fellow who made the roadkill cookbook should team up with the guy who made the engine manifold cookbook. That way you can run over it and have it ready to eat by the time you get home!
Not only not homologated but too much displacement and no road version made (Superbikes are based on production streetbikes).
By the way Steve I cannot imagine you or I turning down a chance on a shite box such as the Petronas. I love shite boxes like that one!
World Superbike will be on SPEEDTV tomorrow (Sunday, 26) at 12:00 noon central or 9:00 am pacific time.
I checked the results and unless you are a Kawasaki fan you will really like the way so many manufacturers are represented in the top ten. The results are surprising but very exciting!!
Please do not say that on this forum or you will temp someone to write a 20 page essay and no one will want to read it.

The price is a bit high but the forks listed earlier on ebay (the better Marzocchi's and the White Power forks) may be your easiest way out as they are a complete front end with yokes and everything and they are brand new units. These will bolt right on and you won't have to worry about the geometry of you bike changing.
I like the WP forks on my Centauro and others I know feel the same.
One important thing to be aware of when putting an alternate front end on a V11 is the length of the forks. The V11 forks are a little bit longer than most forks so putting a Suzuki or Ducati front end on would lower the front end and change the rake, trail and ground clearance. The newer Ducati forks will mean you will need different calipers as well and the diameter of the fork tubes is smaller requiring triple clamp mods or replacements.
These White Power Forks would also be a fine choice but perhaps the Ohlins would be the best value at the price.
Goodluck however you go with your repairs.
Cheers
Jim
I wish I could tell you how great it is but I only got riding it 3 times last year and none of it was track conditions. It certainly does have power and the suspension as factory set is incredibly harsh. I expect to have it out again in March at a track day. I will post lots when I get a thourough ride on it.
I have absolutely no regrets about buying it and perhaps I'll put together a lighting lkit for it and do a little road time as well.
I cannot say for certain but perhaps Goffredo or RacerX might know. I'm only going by what the local dealer was told by the importer so we know how valid that could be.
My VIN # ends with 0041 so perhaps at least 41 were made. There are supposedly a few still at the factory as well, being held back for competition use but that sounds pretty vague.
It certainly would be bending the rules completely out of shape but then it worked for Buell and then there are the elusive Petronas bikes in WSBK but seemingly never seen on the road. How about the Harley superbike? Based on what production bike?
I hope to see the MGS race in any class at Daytona and I am very curiuos to see hope it fares. Only time will tell ......
British Columbia liquor board came out with a bumper sticker for an anti drink and drive campaign a few years back.
It stated "If you drink - then drive, you're a bloody idiot".
Unfortunately for them it could be cut horizontally and it produced two great bumper stickers.
If you drink - then drive
and
you're a bloody idiot
They stopped making them soon after that!
Well, they sound like quite a bunch.
The trip does sound like it would be quite spectacular. I'm going to keep that in mind for some future considerations.
I think I may try some Scruffs. They have jackets and trousers as well as the Cyclone boots and from there advert they seem to have spectacular qualities. I'll be looking for some next time I go shopping.
See advert here.
