At my local today and met a guy who I've talked to before. Seems his dead Father who was a Hells Angels member had a lust for Guzzis and has left a few behind. Of course his son wants to keep at least a couple of the bikes but says he has a 850T he wants to sell. Says the paint is oxidized but the bike starts up with no problem as he's been using a trickle charger. So, tell me all you know about the 850T please. He only wants $1500 for it but I don.t know the year and haven't seen it yet. He wants to sell it to a person who will appreciate it...........and that would be me!!!!!!!!!

A bit off topic but I have felt your pain. I owned a 1983 750 V-4 Honda Interceptor that ate through camshafts frequently. I got finally got rid of it and bought a 85 900Ninja which promptly ate a set of camshafts. Later on, I bought a 1998 Suzuki TL1000S which had a main bearing problem which Suzuki ignored. I had to buy a used motor and stick that in. I took the facked motor to Suzuki's Western Canada regional office, dumped the parts on their front steps, (While they were closed) took some photos of it and Cycle Canada magazine published the photos. A couple of years ago I had a new 950 KTM Adventure which promptly exploded with 13,000 kms on it. Covered under warranty but 3 months to get it repaired. Both Guzzis I've owned have performed great. Only issues were the Siemens relays.

You can allways pick the type of "off road" you want to do. The more serious, the lighter the bike. We're lucky in BC as there's all kinds of mild dirt roads, which I have taken my Quota on with no problem to Trials riding. You just get out a map, try it and if it gets to gnarly, ya turn around and head for pavement. Best thing about my KTM is I trimmed the stock, scratched wind screen on it and it now resides on my Husky. The other point is that I had a chance to ride with a guy who entered the Dakar and finished as a privateer. You wouldn't believe what this guy could do on a 950 and 640, so when all is said and done, it's the rider more than the bike.

Any word yet on if this model is coming to North America? I'd be inclined to go with the 800cc model if there is a big weight difference. As for off roading, this bike would be confined to wide logging roads for me and just use pavement to join the logging roads together. As for the comment on buying a KTM, I own a 950 and have never owned a used or new bike that has had so many problems. 2 days ago it left me stranded in the USA, 90 minutes from home. After my wife picked me up with the trailer in tow, we didn't get home until 1 am. For more serious dirt work, I use my 610 Husky which is bullet proof. I will never buy a KTM again.

Nice Quota, Gooz Mine was red, had the ECU replaced, got 50mpg and I rode it through, California, Washington, Oregon, Montana, Idaho,Alberta and BC. The only thing I didnt like about it was the old gearbox. I'd buy another one at the right price in a minute. It never let me down and I rode backroads alone in Montana with it. Crashed it on a diesel spill on tarmac and the only thing that broke was the left spark plug lead. The handlebars are real off road bars because they didnt even bend and saved the bike from a lot of damage. Heavy? Yes, but not a problem on logging roads. I've got a KLX400 now which is great for the tough single track slimey crud. I've owned 2 KLR650s in the past and for the money, they're good bikes. They're let down by thier antique suspension but a new rear shock and spring, fork brace and progressive springs help a lot. Especially the rear shock and spring, make a huge improvement. I'm looking for a DR650 now as they have way better suspension, especially the forks. The only thing you have to do to the rear is buy an Eaibach rear spring, the shock is good. Dual Sporting is a hoot. Get on good terrain and the only limits are your own. No cops, traffic,pedestrians or lane markings Here's an example. After reading unsolicisited comments and pictures of the boots after some horrendous crashes on a British forum, I went and bought these...... http://www.oxtar-usa.com/products/tcs_evo_ti.htm I really don't give a damn what they look like. I got mine on sale for $167 US, they're the most comfortable bike boots I've ever owned, which really surprised me, and you can feel the air go through them at speed. One guy who recommended them, totalled his CBR954 at a track day and had no foot injuries even though the boots were wrecked. Another guy slid over 150 feet after crashing his bike and had to buy new boots, but the Oxtars saved him from ANY foot injuries.

A change is as good as a rest. I still haven't owned a Ducati yet so that's definitely in the future. Whether the Guzzi is used to help finance it is something I want to avoid but may have to do it.

I hear Big Dave liked his pies and ale too!! I had to laugh when I saw John McGuiness's logo on his wind screen though Jeffries on a SuperMoto?? What pound springs did he use?? I've got some great racing action on DVD of Joey and Dave going at it a few years ago in I think it was Ireland

Like I said on another forum in regards to Rossi getting inside the heads of other riders, like the WHO said............."WHO's NEXT"? I think that just maybe, Nicky H being a teamate for a couple of years has him immuned to the Rossi hex.
