  1. I saw these two bikes for sale at BMW Daytona. Contact Frank Serrani if interested. 386.257.2269 or toll free@888.219.4219
  2. not sure about the conversion, Guy, but the first time the fuel light turned on it was around 115 miles. We filled up the tank at that point and figured she had a gallon of gas left in the tank. That equates to another 40 miles or so. We pretty much traveled at 80 mph during the whole trip. In any event, we we adjusted our range to anytime we got over 100 miles, we looked for the next station. In comparison, every time I filled the guzzi, her tank took about the same amount of fuel. It was pretty close.
  3. check out the vid from the germans... http://www.bmwmotorcycles.com/bikes/popups...=k1200r&i=1 can also be seen through the media file on this page called Respect... http://www.bmwmotorcycles.com/bikes/bike.jsp?b=k1200r
  4. Left St. Augustine FL and made it as far as the west side of Arizona. Me on the Scura and my daughter on her S4Rs left around a month or so ago. Headed out of here to Dallas, TX first off. Met Triple T just outside of Ft. Worth. Talk about a bike that should be one of the Pic of the month awards, Triple T has the one. We later headed over to Albuquerque, NM where camping in the tent made some cool mornings. We stayed close to the Camino Real for around a week, met a great guy in Lemitar NM that specializes in 1949 to 1951 Indians. He turned me on to a guy in Bayfield, CO who specializes in other models (I am looking for a mid 30's Indian Four..which was my dad's first bike). So we headed up to Durango via Chaco Canyon (the dirt road made a most interesting ride for the goose, the duc sliced through it like butter...I know she can ride). We rode into Mesa Verde, then over to Valley of the Gods, Utah in what seemed like winter weather. Then on to Mexican Hat, Monument Valley, the Grand Canyon, and on to Prescott, AZ, where the good chaps of Encore Performance (http://www.epfguzzi.com) serviced up the bike (they filled 'er up with oil and checked the gas). After contemplating whether to head over to Joshua Tree, CA, we decided it was time to head east. After spending the night in Tombstone, AZ, we headed along the border to Las Cruces, NM. Guess what, ain't no gas stations for 200+ miles. Luckily, the MinuteMen were handy in Hachita NM and really willing to help (starting off speaking spanish was fun!). So we gased up and gave a well deserved donation and headed further east. Later headed down to Barbarosa country (Big Bend, TX) and camped out in Terlingua. The road from Presidio to Lacinta is all they say it is, awesome turns. Then we headed off to San Antoin for some well deserved time in a hotel on the river walk. Later made it over to Houston where MPH did a bang up job adjusting the valves, etc. Later on to Alabama, then the all day ride across northern Florida. Got to admit that as much crap interstate riding gets, it sure was nice hanging out with the 90+ miler per hour gangs on that long last day.
  5. The seat doesn't really look any different...it just feels a lot better. I had to find the old reciept and it looks like I had Super Cell foam installed and the cost was $119. here's a pic. They did nice work. St.
  6. ok, ok...see if you can see the color in this pic..
  7. I live pretty close to jacksonville florida where Sargent is located. Was getting a new ducati seat for a monster when they mentioned they could upgrade the 2002 Scura seat. Seeing as how I was going on a 3000 mi. trip I said what the heck. And the end of this story? No complaints.
  8. take a look at how a little color from the Sargent seat looks like on a dark S4Rs...
  9. Heh Heh is right. Atleast I have her buffalo'd in thinking she has to stay below 6000 rpms until her first check up (which she is in the infirmary at PCS Daytona as we speak ). When she comes out she is only allowed 7500 rpm for a little while longer...then papa needs to watch out. She is getting ready for a road trip from Florida to N.Mex next week, so will let you know how she fairs.
  10. I'm w/ dBen. Most people let emotions drive their thinking instead of the facts. A great book to read right now is "The State of Fear" by Michael Crichton ...excerpt from an amazon review ; "In State of Fear he reverses field and uses the incorrectly perceived threats of environmental disaster as the underlying impetus for a novel. In Crichton's view, the whole global warming argument is false. His view is that environmentalism has degenerated into a quasi religious system devoid of scientific veracity. Thus, the proponents of the global warming hysteria are pushing faith over fact, many of them have lost their moorings ..." Check it out; http://www.amazon.com/State-Fear-Michael-C...TF8&s=books Inevitably, in our pursuit to do good we sometimes don't get what we seek. The relevant facts are what distinguish what we accomplish. The irrelevant facts are just that..irrelevant facts.
  11. Really didn't notice any difference since it is exactly the same shape as the original. But then again, I just got a new helmet about the same time, and I do where earplugs (see, I got into 3 threads with that one...man I'm good). The guys a bikescreen.com (I notice now in the title of this thread I wrote bikestreet, but meant bikescreen) didn't put the trim back on the upper lip of the windscreen, but I used my old piece. Not sure if that makes a difference. A site that claims noise reduction is http://www.laminarlip.com/. Though I have no idea if it works. Cheers
  12. Now that you mention it, Papa isn't so sure. Her voice does sound kinda deep. Maybe she will grow up to be one of those sexy women with a deep voice? or maybe she is not a she? Yikes! Do know that her birth certificate says "S4rs", see another baby picture below... And here is the photo album... http://www.ducati.com/bikes/my2006/ducatiM...elName=MS4RS-06
  13. I recommend Frank Matera of Aprillia New York (which is probably the same as Ducati Manhattan, though not sure). He can be reached at 212.989.1414 if he is still there. He worked on my scura when i rolled into NYC during our FL to Canada & back trip last year. He was very knowledgable and the guys there really helped us out (my daughter busted her frame on her 2001 Monster). Best of luck. St.
  14. don't mean to hijack, but I would like to know how the red microns would look on a scura, especially since it already has the red anodized pieces on the side. any thoughts or pictures? http://news.micronexhaust.com/store/prodcanisters.htm
  15. Look at the new addition to the family. She arrived late last night. Actually she was found on the doorstep of someone who didn't want her. She is only two weeks old, and we are proud to be new adoptive parents. Doesn't she have some of Papa's looks? She thinks she can whoop Papa (they all turn into teenagers sooner or later). Have a cigar Gents and Ladies!
  16. Not sure if this will help but I bought a Bandit in 2004 and really liked the fit, the looks, the fear it invoked in car drivers/passengers, etc. but after riding the downtown freeways in Houston, I just had to look for something else. Sand kept coming up around my chin (even though i have a beard) and got in my eyes. I think they might make great racing helmets, but this MC helmet was ruthless on the eyes. After trying a couple of other brands, I now have an ICON skull mainframe (http://www.rideicon.com/). It is just totally awesome. Nothing can beat the looks of some of the Simpsons, but for functionality, the ICON beats 'em. If you are looking for some more food for thought, you might check out the article by Motorcyclist on helmets (http://www.motorcyclistonline.com/gearbox/motorcycle_helmet_review/index.html). Being an engineer, a bit of a history of science buff, and wary observor of "group think" in no matter what arena (modified portfolio theory (ie, mutual funds get you average returns), over population may be a myth, don't ask about SWAG on global warming), you may find some hidden truths in the article. BTW, Simpson refused to partake in the test. Others in the forum can tell you their thoughts.
  17. just wanted to pass on that the guys at www.bikescreen.com did a great job replacing my windscreen on the Scura. I drove up to the shop expecting to have to come back in a few days...NO...they said "we have that mold" and will have you out of here in 45 minutes. True to their word...have a look, I chose the dark smoke (they have around 20 options):
  18. I've got a buddy that owns the guzzi shop in Stavanger and i am sure he can assist if needed. His name is rune and his email is post@motorossi.no His website is www.motorossi.no Have a great trip.

    Scura trip

Dr: nice ridin story. I ride with my daughter (last ride 3200 miles FL to Canada and back) and hope to be riding with her when I am 70+. You're living the good life! all the best. St.
  20. take it from someone in florida... this is the best we've found around here... http://www.vansonleathers.com/product_pages/jackets/vx3.htm
  21. Ditto for most of the comments. Notice that Ben being young, he probably weighs less than us old farts weighing in at 200#... I have a 2002 V11 Scura and my daughter has a 2002 Monster 750. You can imagine that when I get on either of the bikes, the response is quite different. So fitting the bike to your body as mentioned earlier with the comfort comments and matching it to the type of riding you want to do, you'll find what works best. Good luck.

  23. Today was the usual Sunday type day around here (Florida). One has to do the domestic things...take the wife to morning coffee and breakfast, walk by the Church feeling guilty for not being inside, stop by the Home Depot Store and pick up some potting soil (that threw out the old back!), and get some yard work done. I tell you, it was hell. Wanna know why? I live off of highway A1A about 45 miles north of Daytona Beach....know what that means? It means the sound of over 100,000 mc's heading down to Bike Week reminding me every minute that I should be out there myself (the other 400,000 truck/trailer their bikes down the interstate). I know it’s the journey and not the destination, but hey...when you ride everyday one needs a destination! So will head off to Key West on Wednesday, and then come back through Daytona on Saturday. Some body has to go the extra mile. Oh yeah, back to the topic...later my daughter and I rode our bikes over to the movie theater and watched the new Ultra Violet movie. Came home and cooked dinner for the yard/gardening goddess (salad of mozzarella and tomatoes, stir fry for the entrée and Riesling wine…hey, sort of an international American dinner). Tonight will probably watch another segment of the PBS “History of Jazz” by Ken Burns from a DVD my buddy lent me. Then I’ll finish up the latest Robb Report Motorcycle magazine then hit the sack. Hope this helps on the thread.
  24. just wanted to let you all know that I got word today that the shop that I get my work done at in daytona (PCS Daytona) called to tell me they got a pair of Ti cans from MG and they are currently in route. Good news!
