Well I don't really want to get THAT enthusiastic about it! ...but if possible, I do like to cover all bases before I start a job. Yet again....Thanks folks for this valuable info. Nige.

Once again, Thanks for the comprehensive information. It is much appreciated. do you have any contact data for Rolf Halvoorsen, by any chance? TIA Nige.

Wow...Thanks for your time and patience on that very detailed reply, Pete. That is going to help a lot. Paul. Have I got the right items circled on this special tools schematic? Don't want to order the wrong kit! The V10 clutch assembly I purchased came with a pushrod cup and also the tranny input spline, which apparently differs in length to the one fitted on the Scura. Am I going to need another pushrod cup or should the V10 or the Scura original be the correct item? Thanks for your help. Nige.

Excellent info, Paul. Thank you very much for that. Ben..... Thanks for the laugh! Nige.

Well, I now have a V10 Centauro twin plate clutch assembly complete with correct (ie different one than a Scura ) transmission input dog / spline. Made a semi-serious attempt to get the whole plot set up, but have pretty much fallen at the first hurdle. What equipment is best for attacking this job? I tried the old Harley Duo Lift ( parallelogram scaffolding ) under the sump, but as the point of balance is half way off the sump, it looks far to precarious to leave like that, let alone work on. Most paddock stands are going to be out, I suppose, because I take it the swinging arm will have to come out before I get to the quarry? I have a hoist somewhere, but I doubt the flat roof of my garage would stand it. So I thought I would ask you good people who have been there, for the best plan of attack? Many thanks in anticipation of any input.......'cos I is stumped. I haven't busted anything yet and would like to avoid doing so Cheers, folks! Nige.

I haven't been to Italy since the 1970's.... but if I remember correctly... ( Which I may not..... ) It should sound like Mowtow Gootzie Nige.

2002 Mercedes Benz A170 LWB. Previous car was a 2000 SWB..... Yes, I really do like them. As our kiddies are growing we needed more room. I don't like big cars so I think I have hit a pretty good compromise. I was tempted by the M series SUV, and the wife and kids said they wanted a seven seater. Sure it would flatter the ego, but that would be about the limit of the advantages. I said no. Ninety percent of the time I will be the only one in it so I am not thundering around at twenty mpg or less in one of those battleships. For the cost of one tyre on that I can replace the entire set on the car I have. I get 50+ mpg and the ride is good on the LWB. They are a much maligned great little car.....I am happy about that really, 'cos I can buy 'em cheaper! Nige.

Whos gonna be riding it! Nige.

Not an easy situation,Pete.... I would say you have to be open with the customer, express your concerns, tell him a little about the right corrective procedures and costs. Maybe get him to do a paper chase on the job.....Not that that is any guarantee in itself that it has been done, of course. I know you wouldn't feel comfortable otherwise. Then the decision is his. Any waiver he gives should be itemised on the invoice. That said, I suppose you will have to get involved with 6 speed rebuilds at some point. If I were the customer I would be asking you to go ahead, regardless of the warranty issue, and that way we both would be happy the job had been done right. Might cost more, but how much is peace of mind worth. BTW on the subject of peace of mind....... I have bought a used V10 clutch assembly to replace the RAM unit in my Scura. I think the trade off in terms of performance for a road bike is going to be negligible and well worth it! Hope you get this issue resolved favourably soon, Regards, Nige.

As I understand it, the best scenario you can hope for in terms of protection from any helmet is that of a glancing / skidding blow. A full face will save your face wearing away on the tarmac.. ...An open face may save the side or back of your skull, depending on which part of your body you are using as a brake! Any direct cranial impact of 30+mph is going to either kill or maim. This is not scaremongering...Just calling it how I have seen it. This is not so much from any documented medical study, or any personal medical knowledge, more from my personal observations marshaling for the Isle of Man TT and Manx Grand Prix for many years. ( No part of this is published on behalf of any organisation or authority blah blah! ) Wear a helmet by all means, but it can lull you into a false sense of security. Although I do still have a couple of jet style helmets I almost invariably wear a full face, simply because I find them more comfortable, not because I perceive much added safety benefits in wearing any type of helmet at all anyway. Primarily, I wear them for comfort and because they are a legal requirement. Nige.

Looks pretty awesome Sounds good too! Nige.

I can agree with where Nogbad is coming from on this.... ...but bar the erm..... holey fairing, I do like the looks of it. Very purposeful. Whether I would buy one though, that is another matter They are bound to have teething problems as it were. Just have to see how they go on. I am in favour of anyone developing new bikes for us. Whether they should be trying to harvest from an historic names reputation is another issue entirely. Quite like the idea of a Voxan though. Nige.

Another vote for Mistrals. I would still be using them now if I hadn't clicked lucky on ebay for some titanium exotica LOL Nige.

Pick any Tonti V twin that grabs you. Pick a good un and they are pretty robust. Wouldn't get tempted by the singles. Spares might be iffy. Nige.

Yes, I agree with your thoughts on the standard LeMans fairing. That would have been the easy option for me for my low flyscreen problem with the Scura. As regards fitting a headlamp where there isn't the appropriate aperture? Headlamp mounting not too difficult? Well....It might look simple when it is finished, but getting it to fit correctly and look right in a fairing it wasn't designed for??.....You might get lucky, but the project I am on with at the moment although it is geling now it is not as straight forward as it looks. A lot of patience is required. Trial and error goes on for quite a while before you get it just so. Nige.

Not so much winding my neck in, more getting a windscreen blade that is a little more substantial... There is a lot more to it than that, but I am keeping it under wraps until it is complete. Nige.

Well Ben, Have you ever seen a TNT close up? There was a brand new one in the dealers when I bought my Scura. I think the build quality looks a little iffy to be polite. The clincher for me was it was a brand new bike in the showroom and it had a badly melted headlamp reflector!! Didn't inspire any confidence whatsoever. Nige.
-
S'Okay, Ryan. He is one of us! Nige.

A small flyscreen can give suprisingly good wind deflection, but only if it is set up right in terms of height, angle & distance from the rider. The combination of me & my Scura means that the standard flyscreen is about 1 - 1 1/2" inches too short. That is why I am working on an alternative solution. Nige.

Yeah, I can relate to you not knowing or caring about the Honda! It looks like we have squatters rights now! LOL Nige.

Doesn't do much for me, I'm afraid. Different folks..... Nige.

Have we hijacked this thread yet? LOL Nige.

I like singles for low down stomp, economy and relative simpilicity. I have a MuZ Skorpion 660cc single (Yamaha XTZ 660 ) It is a big softie of an engine and a hoot to ride. If you are determined it will pull an indicated 110mph if you are patient enough Parallel twins I quite like, but bigger ones can be too vibratory in a self-dissassemble sense. Big V twins are much superior IMO...Especially if you get them breathing right. Triples,.... now you have a nice compromise here...Most of the stomp of a twin and the smoothness of a four...Plus a shedload of soul......I love that Banshee wail through my Raygun pipes! It really depends on how the mood grabs me as to which is taken out. Nige.
