  1. I know where one of them is.... I think he is going to race it though I don't know where or when. Cryptic, eh? Nige.
  2. They sit in very snug on both sides. Build quality and fit is first class, and that is what you should get with a bespoke custom build as these were. I thought it sat entirely symetrical, but since you asked, I measured it...The right sits 20mm further out than the left, but you have to look very closely to notice. It all fits very close and neat...Almost too close to the indicators. Shame about that. Have a word with Pete Morecombe at Reboot...He may have something suitable? If not it isn't a complicated part. These are fabricated from 3.5mm plate. They are not identical. They are handed but I didn't measure them prior to assembly. I think there may well be a difference of the order of 10-20mm. If the new cans had been co-operative I would have used them with the standard hangers (with pillion footrests) in the event the mount would have been about 25mm too low, so I went with the supplied supports. (I haven't taken a pillion for the best part of a decade anyway. ) If you need more accurate measurements let me know & I will try my best for you. Thanks.....I'm sure of it! Regards, Nige.
  3. All right then......... Had to shrink the images quite a bit to post them. Hope it comes out OK! Cop a load of this! Nige.
  4. A lucky escape and a chastening experience, matey! Pleased no one or anything came to any harm. Nige.
  5. Right.... Tried it out. Awesome! Harder pull low down, and wonderful exhaust note.....It really gets a staccato bark just over 5000rpm. Most of the seat of pants improvement I would put down to the crossover pipe. I would advise anyone looking for more performance ( and 'presence' ) to take off their standard crossover...... Hold it lovingly in their hands........ Close your eyes.............. ...and fling it as far as possible! Well 'appy! Nige.
  6. MMmmmm... Polished Titanium..... Lovely... .....and it sounds...... Very, very nice! Now to get a power commander! Nige.
  7. I got them today. They are well sexy! Damage is light and should polish out. Nige.
  8. OK....Thanks very much, folks! Nige.
  9. All of the above seems perfectly reasonable to me. Thanks. Nige.
  10. Will do, Guy. I think that will be a bit further down the line though. I will have to get a power commander and a revised map to optimise the perfomance first. Nige.
  11. With a bit of luck I may get it refurbished and on in time for TT. I think it is appropriate it should come back to the Isle of Man. Nige.
  12. http://www.southern100.com For those of you fortunate enough to be able to get to the Island this year. The Billown ( Southern 100) Course will be in use this coming weekend for the Pre TT Classic races, the weekend after the TT there is the Steam Packet Races on the same course. Then there are the events on the TT Mountain Course. The world famous TT Races and also the Manx Grand Prix in late August. http://www.iomtt.com http://www.iommgp.com If you are coming over for any events, we can never have enough marshals. If we don't get enough marshals the events cannot go ahead, so please also take a look at: http://www.iomttma.com/ Bring it on!!! Nige.
  13. To summarise then....( Please correct me if I am wrong). Short term cheapest option. Bash on until it becomes a problem...Intend to do that anyway TBH. Next preferred option. Replace with later design RAM, probably cheapest replacement, question still open on the longer term reliability? Most expensive option. Replace with modern twin plate and relax. Sacrificing some low down pick up. May be able to lighten it further? Do I have that right, folks? Nige.
  14. I just noticed a seventies throwback idiosyncrisy (sp. ) Not sure if it has always done it....I don't think so. The Veglia on my 750-S3 always did it. The speedo bounces a lot at lower speeds...Seems OK once 50 is passed. Is this still normal or should it be sorted? Nige.
  15. Aye, the weather could be better for them! Still here is hoping for better TT fortnight. Nige.
  16. Good info. Bruce. Obviously it is a different design. Did you get the chance to do a visual comparison before the new unit went in? Is the new one strengthened around the boss area? TIA Nige.
  17. This is basically because if the threads aren't lubricated they may well 'spall', or 'pick-up' Tear in layman's terms. Light grease is fine, I use a type of copperslip, although some folk say that is not the best choice, I have never had any problem with it. Nige.
  18. Considerably so. Nearly double from some sources. Nige.
  19. It was on a thread on this board somewhere. Some kind soul posted a comparative pair of pics showing the old and revised design. I'll see if I can find it, but don't hold your breath. Nige.
