Yes, IIRC the early Southern 100 races did involve a hundred miler too. With the course only being less than five miles long though, they must have got dizzy They reduced the race distance quite early on, but the name stuck. Nige.

Neat job.... I suppose should you need to tighten or replace spokes it would be easy enough to 'patch' around the disturbed spoke? Nige.

IIRC the wheels from a 850-T3 might fit the bill? I think they were 18" both ends...... I am prepared to be corrrected on this. :0) They won't be tubeless though! Nige.

Well, I would agree that the best way to remove the short engine is from the front. That is the way I pulled mine apart after receiving similar advice & I found it worked very well. Nige.

This was my first Guzzi. It is my first photograph of it before I actually bought it! It was taken in the Ballacraine Hotel car park in 1980. It morphed quite a lot in the eleven years I owned it! ...Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to retain something on the off chance it might come in useful one day...or face the slings and arrows of ebay! ( Sorry, Bill ) I just had a rather rewarding experience this weekend. Whilst clearing out the shed to find some paint to redecorate with, I came across a sorry looking sidestand which I acquired on a write off Le Mans 2 back in the early eighties. Now the Morini 350 Sport I bought a few months back didn't have a sidestand. It was an optional extra back in the seventies. As the bike new was only about 30 quid short of the price of an 850 Commando, I think very few folk sprung ( ) for one. TBH It is so light to get on the centrestand, it doesn't really need one, but I thought I would give it a whirl.... Half an hour later I had a Morini fitted with a sidestand which looks the part and works well enough too. Well chuffed with this result! Normally I find a use for things a couple of weeks after I dump / flog 'em! Nige.

Aye, I have been fortunate enough to live here since the late 1980s. Guernsey? Channel Islands...... Nearer France than Southern England. We are half way between Northern England and Ireland. The ebay reference was to the fact that I scored one of the 3 Scorpion made works Guzzi Titanium exhaust systems used for the 2002 TT entry. Nige.

Aye, absolutely! I have used it enough to know it will be very accomplished at what it was bought for. It now has a rev counter, a different petrol tank, footboards and large Cali 1 two tone saddle. This saddle follows the frame rail line, so the original ugly plastic sidepanels ( ironically with the 'Metal' legend on them) are not suitable. They leave a big triangular gap where the original swoopy saddle sat. I have modified a pair of real metal T3 sidepanels to fit. When they are filled and painted I will post pics Nige.

Another factor may be the behaviour at tickover. If it is set too low with a light flywheel it is going to 'hunt.' Nige.

I too liked the operation of the single plater, but to be honest the difference on a road bike is slight. In actual fact the V10 unit I have in is smoother on tick over and the difference in pick up is barely perceptable. It is an expensive replacement part, but there should be plenty of second hand twin platers kicking about now, I would have thought. I just sourced one of these and assembled with new plates. Nige. Yes, I think the problem seems to be confined to the 'improved' version fitted to the Scura. I haven't heard of any 'grenading' problem with any other single plate models..... Anyone else heard of it? Nige.
