  1. I didn't have much confidence in a single plate replacement either TBH. Mine is a 10 spring dual plate unit from a V10 Centauro. Works great! Nige.
  2. Agreed. Although at the time I came across this, the 'Alternative bike' thing was in vogue & this may have been a tongue in cheek swipe at it. It was at the TT, so this 'statement' may have been seen by a lot of folk. Or I just could be reading meaning into it that isn't there. Nige.
  3. I don't wish to be a scare-monger but........ Seriously think about swapping for a twin plate clutch assembly. Failure certainly appears to be a 'When' rather than 'If.' It is not even the fact that it fails bothered me, rather it was the spectacular mode of the potential failure. Mine was not making any out of the ordinary noises, but when I removed the alloy flywheel I had it penetrant tested and it was starting to crack. Budget for it and put it on as soon as convenient. Other than this pretty major caveat,I have found it a belter of a bike! Nige.
  4. True....but you forgot the bit about the manky carrier and top box! Nige.
  5. Try these fellas for parts..... They are knowledgeable, helpful and their prices ain't bad either. http://www.motostrada.co.uk/ Nige.
  6. Very close.... About 1982 if memory serves. Nige.
  7. .....this fellas sense of humour!
  8. Amateurs! Look at these intrepid young gentlemen. It was a GSX250 Suzuki outfit..... Yes there is a fella sat in the sidecar.......He is hanging on to the parrafin stove! Ah! The carefree excesses of ignorant youth! Nige.
  9. Sure it will... Would you like the philips headed screws too? Drop me a PM or email and we can get it sorted! Nige.
  10. I junked the plastic cover on my Cali in favour of an alloy V11 one. It came with manky paint on, but I polished it up on a buffing wheel. It still has a patina of usage which suits the style of the bike. Shouldn't take too much effort to keep it presentable. Nige.
  11. Always liked the look..... ...but given their history, & their painful prices..... I think your title sums it up nicely. Shame though, because as motorcycles...I do like them! Nige.
  12. Agreed! The 'new' Cali is a hoot! Seat height is at an altitude I can relate to more easily, & it performs better than any cruiser has a right to! It is undergoing a 'retro' excercise at the moment. Using the T3 Cali as an inspiration. As regards roads I think us rural Celts are spoilt rotten! Nige.
  13. Right Oh! I hope the situation will improve for you soon, Pete! Awaiting further payment instructions on 2 plates then! Nige.
  14. I'll not trouble you at this unhappy time. Let us know when you are in a position to proceed and I'll sort out payment then? My thoughts are with you and your family. Best wishes... Nige.
  15. Oh dear! My thoughts are with you, matey! Best wishes to yourself and family! Nige.
  16. So how would you like us Brit types to play it... Pay for the plates and sort out postage later or what you reckon? Nige.
  17. Right Oh, matey! Hang in there! A few beers and you should get your bonce around it! Nige.
  18. All I am getting is: Accesso Negato Nige.
  19. Info on this thread: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=7181 Unfortunately, it doesn't look like i took any pics of the V10 clutch before I installed it! Most awkward bit was having to change the clutch centre body. The mainshafts on the 5 and 6 speed units are a different diameter. The one off the V10 wouldn't fit & I had to source a twin plate clutch body from a V11. Nige.
  20. That would be handy, Dave. I will be staying in Knaresborough, so it would only be a short hop. There are some cracking pubs in Knaresborough too, if you fancy a little trip on the train I will buy you a couple of pints of real ale in Blind Jack's if the idea appeals? Nige.
  21. Emailed you confirming 2 off requirement, Pete. Have a small issue to sort out re. collection / postage as similar to our Irish brothers, I ain't on the same lump of land either! I would appreciate it if some kind soul would collect and post on or if mutually convenient hang on to them pending my visit to North Yorks in early November? Nige.
  22. Well, after a lot of heart searching and cogitation I abandoned the single plate route and fitted a 10 spring V10 clutch assembly. The difference I have noted is that the drive take up is smoother, it is barely perceptably down in terms of eagerness to rev, so I would say that with the factor that it is a road bike and is now non-grenading, I am really, really pleased that I have gone to the trouble of changing it. Yes, I did penetrant test the alloy flywheel from the original single plate unit and, yes it was on the road to failure. That said, the grenading clutch aside...yes it is a big exclusion! I am really chuffed I bought the Scura. The running gear is top quality. Nige.
