  1. Yep, let's just do it the once! I am always in favour of tending towards over-engineering rather than the 'That looks / sounds real smart.....Oh it's broken again!' approach which left us with the single plate clutch debacle. A corrolary...... 'Buy nice or buy twice!' Nige.
  2. Yes, I thought so! Nige.
  3. I hope they are not parochial about this, and accept the fact that the internet is a global tool not just one for the US or its companies to own. Nige.
  4. Must be a climate where it ain't likely to get wet. EEEEwwwww! Soggy! Nige.
  5. Humidity is the main culprit, I would suspect. Don't rush into changing any PC settings until the atmospherics are more 'normal' for your area. As a bit of a correlation, my T500 Suzuki twin always ran a lot better when it was slightly damp... Wet and it would cut out! I found this to be the case with most two strokes. OK I know we are talking different strokes, but I do think humidity still has an effect on 4 strokes. If symptoms stay the same when it is cooler and drier, then look at the mapping and maybe do a plug chop at the offending revs. Nige.
  6. I wouldn't think that would matter. The plate would still do the job of keeping sufficient oil where it is needed. Nige.
  7. Never in the field of home mechanicing, have I ever been so relieved to see an adjustable tappet! Yahay! BUT! Jeez! I have never seen emulsification like it!!! The rocker arms and tappets had a 1mm thick coating on them!! Mind you, the bike had less than 1,700 miles on it when I bought it, and had been stood for some time. I only take rides over 70 miles or so, so I suppose this is down to the short runs the previous owner must have given it. Oil & filter change moves right up the priority list! Thanks for the input, folks! Nige.
  8. Don't let the odd troll get to you, Pete. You can't please all the folk all the time, and it is foolish to try. If they don't get a response from you they will soon move on and try and make somebody else's life a misery! Hang in there, matey! You are well appreciated here! Nige.
  9. Thanks a lot, Pete! That is the information I needed! I'm off to bed shortly. I'll take a skeet tomorrow and report back, just to add a small contribution to the forum database. Nige.
  10. Well if, as I suspect it is now, it is a single plater in the Cali I have, at least it won't go super nova on me! Thanks for that info, Pete! Nige.
  11. I don't know about the hydraulic lifter bit though, Greg. What's the easiest way to find out? It is an injection model. Tonti frame 5 speed tranny. Clutch is cable operated. Nige.
  12. Oh Gawd! Don't start THAT again! Nige.
  13. Two for me, please? Nige.
  14. Oh Jeez! Don't tell me I have been lumbered with another chuffing single plate clutch mess!! 04 Registered Cali Metal... Odd though that it has the 2001 80th anniversary graphic on the tank? Afraid to ask, but anybody know if this will be a single plate? Nige.
  15. I was old enough to marshal, but didn't start until I came to the Isle of Man in the late eighties. Nige.
  16. Good grief! I take it they will confiscate loud cars and lorries too? Nige.
  17. Gawrsh.. I do feel much younger now...Thanks! Nige.
  18. Would seeing the 1970s Transatlantic Series make me old enough to qualify for that? Yes and I remember the Blue Meanies and have seen Procol Harum. Nige.
  19. LOL No. Although it is potentially a factor. Genetic defect. Interbreeding. There are two main variants, the No Tail and the Stumpy. Both have larger than normal hind quarters. Nige.
  20. No, you are missing my point. We get all of the disadvantage with no perks to offset it.
  21. Manx Grand Prix. It is basically the amateur version of the TT. It is quieter than the TT apart from all the classic bikes rumbling about! No..... us lot are all three legged ... The native cats don't have any tails. Nige.
  22. Don't chance it. Change it. It is worth it. Nige.
  23. Might be worth doing a straw poll amongst the Brits on here and see if it is worth commisioning a short batch run? Nige.
  24. Our status with the EU is a sore point actually. We are only associate members or some such. Basically what it means is we get all of the hassle and undemocratic laws ( as we have no direct elected representative there ) without any of the benefits! Nige.
