Ladies, Gents, and Mr. Roper- My Tenni has found a new home, going to a nice chap in Minnesota. I have certainly benefitted more from this site than I could ever hope to have contributed, and I am grateful for all the help I have received. Some day, I will own another Guzzi, and will be back for more help. Thanks to all for everything, Garsdad

Price reduced to $5500 I lost my job at the end of March. Couldn't take sitting around collecting unemployment, so I went to work at a small motorcycle shop. Well, sales died, and they could no longer afford me, so I am back on unemployment. It doesn't cover the bills, and I have not had any luck finding permanent employment. My wife is starting to really suffer from the financial stress, and I can’t take that look in her face much longer; she deserves better. As much as it pains me to do it, the Tenni has to go. A roof over our heads, food on the table, and my marriage are worth a bit more right now than having a bike. The bad: She pings sometimes. There is a small oil seepage at the top, near the front of the block. Oil pressure sending unit or timing pick-up is my guess. I took the tank off to swap out the intake boots, and set it on a towel in the garage. I didn't realize fuel was leaking out the vent line, and it soaked the towel. The paint at the front of the tank sat in fuel, and a little has flaked off. She needs new tires. There is tread, but they are hard. I ride her, so there are a few rock chips, etc from 9,000 miles of use. I did not get a tool kit or the black seat with her. The white decal (the “eye”) on one side was a little farcked up when I got her. I did not bother fixing it. Spots on one side cover courtesy of my son Gar spraying what he thought was wasp killer in the garage, with little regard for what was behind the wasp. Engine Paint Bubbles The Good: The shift pawl spring has been changed. Shockproof Heavy in tranny and bevel box. Roper Plate installed. Hose Clamp installed. Stiffer rear spring installed to cure the wallow of the original spring. Never down. Buell pegs for increased leg room Stock, except charcoal canister is removed (but you get it with the bike). Last tuned on the Axione of one Pete Roper. Sorry, but he didn’t autograph the bike. I am offering it here first, and on wildgoosechase, before I craigslist it. I need $6,000 out of her. Mine just started an intermittent charging issue as well. Not a real "on" indication, but a slight glow at times from the charging system indicator. I cleaned all the connections at the battery. I think it is the original battery (7 years old) but I have no issues with it holding a charge and when I tested the system I had ample voltage. Granted, I was unable to test the system when the light was glowing. Love those intermittent things. I'll check the wiring to the rectifier tomorrow. If there are further issues, I'll be posting for help! Garsdad

how universal are injectors? What I am wondering is if there is another injector that operates under similar fuel pressure, voltage, etc. that could be substituted that would do a better job. I know Honda uses an injector with 12 holes in it for better atomization of fuel, a developement from their F1 engines of the 90's. Could we get better running engines with a simple change like the injector?

Cascade Moto Classics in Beaverton is good. I have no experience with the dealer in Bend, but Sagerat had some issues with an electrical issue and I believe he had taken it there several times; check the old threads for details. When you firm up plans, send me a PM if you wouldn't mind a riding buddy for a day. I am always looking for an excuse for a ride!

I find this interesting, since in 2003 we didn't do LoJack for Motorcycles. We do now, and in many states Progressive, Geico, and Nationwide will give a discount on comprehensive if you have LoJack on your bike. Foremost will waive your deductible up to $500. Check with them in your state, as each state is different. LoJack is a small tranceiver that is hidden on the bike. When the bike is moved, it senses the motion and looks for the RFID signal that should be coming from your key fob. If that signal is not present, the LoJack radios out to us and tells us it is moving without authorization. Our computer then looks up your profile, and notified you at the 5 points of contact you have designated. Once you are notified of the theft, you can then call the police and report the bike stolen. They will enter the VIN into the stolen vehicle data base, which causes the LoJack to start sending out the homing signal. Law enforcement then follows the signal on their trackers until they locate the bike. We use an FM radio signal, since GPS doesn't work indoors and cell phone, GPS, etc. is not probable cause for a search warrant. LoJack is. We have recovered bikes in garages, storage units, shipping containers, and moving vans. It is this easy... CBR theft Stolen van. Typically, they will stake out 5 or so bikes, steal a van, and then steal them until the van is full (2-3 bikes) and ditch the van. Chrysler mini-vans are easy to steal, plentiful, and have a nice low lift-over. Yes, I work for LoJack. Yes, I am aware of the limitations. Yes, it is still the best option. Garsdad

My replacement spring had more clearance on the big boss than the stock spring would have had on a 15mm boss, so I left it alone. So far, so good...

While you were taking the heads on and off, did you do anything different with the breather set-up? Have you checked to see if the oil isn't coming in with the air and fuel? -
I bought mine with the stock exhaust and no black seat for $7500 a couple or three years ago. Of course, it only had 728 miles on it. I don't know if it was "worth it" according to book value, etc. but it was worth every penny and then some to me. Go with your gut. Ask Greg Field or Todd Haven what the exhaust really cost. Only you know what you are willing to pay. By the way, Nero's are cool, but anyone can paint a bike black...

Oh, OK. I'll try to "properly introduce" a website next time. Here's a thought for you- Water vapor is a much better greenhouse gas than CO2- it holds a lot more energy. So does Methane. But you can't tax water vapor and methane, and with the exception of cattle and human farts, you would have a hard time blaming man for the warming caused by methane. Paving streets, building houses, watering golf courses and irrigating crops all cause warming. If you turn 100 acres that was grass and trees into streets and rooftops that soak up the sun's energy all day, then release it all night, you will have warming. But you can't really tax people for that. When the water evaporates out of your pool, hot tub, lawn, and around the crops we grow for food and energy, it causes warming. But you can't tax that. And you really have a tough time making money on evaporation from the oceans, lakes, and streams. But you can tax fossil energy use, and say it is all in the name of reducing our carbon footprint. Stop making the nasty CO2. No one is arguing that the world is getting warmer, we simply don't know the cause, and the idea that pinpointing the smallest contributor to the total of "greenhouse gases" and putting the total blame on that is silly. It is a money grab. Those with the cash (or the company that sells "carbon credits") fly around in private jets spewing more crap into the air in a year than I will in a lifetime. They live in a 40,000 (yes, that's forty thousand) square foot mansion that they heat and cool to their liking, all the while telling me that I am ruining the planet if my thermostat is set at more than 68 degrees in the dead of winter. They own a token Prius, but they are driven around in a limo and I am supposed to make do with a SMART car. Governments have never met a tax they didn't like, so this is a goldmine for them. As I stated earlier- follow the money. The loudest shills for any cause are usually the ones that stand to gain from it. I am all for saving the earth, as I live here, too. But- I want proof that something is harmful before we cripple economies and burden society to combat it. So far, the proof isn't there. One last thought- I see you put a PCIII and TuneBoy on your V11. Both of those richen the fuel mixture, and thus your bike emits more CO2 and other pollutants, probably more than the regs allowed. They don't leave the factory set lean to help the power delivery, do they. So, you are willing to tax and regulate the CO2 emissions of others, as long as your motorcycle is improved by increasing your own. Sort of your personal "Cap and Trade" system?

I'll give you a hundred dollars for the used exhaust! The exhaust, although used, cost about $1400 new? I have the "paint problem" on mine and for now I feel I can just ignore it. When it bothers me enough, I'll fix it. A broken odo on any vehicle makes me nervous. That whole "True Miles Unknown" statement leaves too much to the imagination, so unless I am planning to rebuild it anyway, I pass unless it is just tooooooo screamin' a deal. And then, of course, anything less than a Tenni is just a LeMans.
