  1. Yeah ...I have to find my meter and start checking stuff. As I recall (kinda iffy) I have the electrosport complete setup on the bike. key on ...replacement headlight worked but taillight did not. Then when I had it running at about 2 minutes 2000rpm the fuse blew. I sure it will be one of these before its over Sometimes its a ppain being married to an Italian women but boy the sex is good ....I mean riding is good -)))))
  2. I went for a little ride the other day. Hit the freeway to get out quick. Looked at the Tach....no worky...went another mile and thought "this is not right". Pull over, bike idling, hummmm No headlight either.check taillight ....hummmmm no taillight either. Pop the seat ...15 amp light fuse is blown. No biggy ..put another fuse in ...no tach, headlight, or taillight. I go home. Today I pop the headlight out ...bad lamp...Pop the taillight out...bad lamp...don't have another tach (really ! maybe). Swap lamps out and try to start. battery dead. Charge battery. Start bike ...headlight works...cool.....taillight still no worky....tach no worky...fuse cover is off and I see the 15amp fuse blow again. Have I mentioned before that I hate electrical... I think I have another voltage regulator but I have to go look. I have seen a lot of lamps fail for whatever reason, from 55w headlights to 10000w TV lamps. This one tried do do its impression of a solar flare. Help
  3. I don't know....Sounds to me like you need to strip the engine and tranny down to the last nut and bolt and really find out what the problem is.
  4. If it were mine, I'd find out who the best welder in the area is and take it to him. I don't know how accurate the picture is but it looks to me like there are more cracks there. I would want mine welded. Let me say again...the best welder. Lucky me.. I know a guy who's nuclear reactor type welding certified and he likes motorcycles
  5. I'm gonna start stayin with you on the ride....( yea right ) maybe then I won't lose that special black smoke.
  6. I guess the down side for me is all the magic black smoke that keeps escaping -)))
  7. Gee ...not only do i get better MPG, I get better tire wear too !! I usually get 7 - 10,000 miles out of a rear....runnin PR3s now
  8. That burnt fuse did not come out of the stock fuse holder. I had already run a heavier gauge wire with inline fuse. Snip out the bad fuse holder and put in a new one I still stand by my statement that there is something wrong with this design. Yes,I agree that dirt, loose connection, blah, blah, blah can cause the problem. On the other hand, I have had many cars, trucks, and motorcycles in my time, and I NEVER blew fuses. One day I will get around to putting the little led's at the relays per Kiwi_Roy's instruction.later
  9. Docc has the maxi fuse setup...I guess he's on his way back from Barber. I can't find the maxi fuse holder in town.I can find the fuses but not the holder. Pep Boys,Autozone,O"Riellys"s,chilton....nada. I'll keep lookingIs there a relay in this particular circuit ? I'm thinking its time for my yearly relay tuneup.-))
  10. heres a pic of the fuse
  11. Not to my knowledge....and I usually bit a bit of a squeeze on the contacts just to make sure there is a good bite.
  12. yep ....already have another fuse holder in place
  13. Well now , once again it seems my 30amp fuse has decided to heat up I already have a seperate 30amp fuse with 14gauge wire and now this has melted and gone bad. I can't remeber all the conclusions we came to on this problem, but I am beginning to think there is a flaw in the Italian Wiring.(LOL) Anyway , I wonder if i have another voltage regulator thats gone bad? chime in anytime Roy & Docc.....I'll be in the garage -) andy
  14. Kill Boy said they saw a bunch of weird looking bikes gussi's or something ! had lots of pictures and over at 129 photos Old Tractors my ass !
  15. We made here minus 1 ....but will let him speak for himself 6 geese 1 honda 1 trumpet 1 TL later
  16. Since I'm falling into the old fart category more and more, my memory maybe a little suspect. My recollection of the Guzzi Ohlins vs say R1,Gixxer,etc.... is that guzzi is over all a longer leg. Seems to me all the late model Ohlins are 3-4"inches shorter than the Guzzi forks....can't remember if its the outer leg or the inner. It also seems that a few years ago anyway, you could buy pieces and parts from Ohlins that could convert "other Ohlins" to Guzzi. I found that to be extremly cost prohibitive. Luck ...whichever way you go andy
  17. I guess thats a classic (plus it depends on how much shine i've had) a southerner making fun of a southerner -)
  18. one last thing to check .....make sure rubber insert/damper is still good on rod from the bevel box to the frame. if your a sporty rider it should be about gone at one end or the other. I machined up a set of Derlin bushings for mine ...don't know what others have done andy
  19. Hey Dazz, I would expect there to be more "slop" in the Guzzi than a chain drive bike. You have your six speed transmission that is going to have a bit of back and forth "slop" running down the driveshaft that has two u-joints that should not have much "slop" back to the "rear end "gearbox that will have a bit of "slop" in it. How many miles? You should have magnetic drain plugs on both the tranny and the bevel box. First thing I would do is drop the fluid in both of them and check the drain plugs for debris. There will be some "grit " as I call it....almost like a metal powder. All normal. If you find something bigger than say a bb or a couple of pieces bigger than bb's then I would pull the side cover off of the tranny and have a look see. I've got 100,000 miles on mine ....original clutch, tranny, driveshaft, bevel box. I don't drive like a wussy either. Let us know ...
  20. I had the swingarm off for whatever reason ..at that point you just take the 3 bolts off and remove it, make the modification and reinstall. you would have to get creative to modify while still mounted on the bike. I used a dremel cut off wheel.
  21. You are correct Sir....thats what happens when I speak before looking at what I had done. The access hole that I made might be a little larger than need be...( in a hurry). Docc is right ...the forward "windows " are for the u-joint bolt access. I don't work in the steel industry but that particular piece is "hefty" and in my case I think still more than enough to contain the driveshaft should the joint fail. happy trails
  22. oh look ....somebody stole my brake lever !!!! hehehehe Sorry guys ...Docc & Josh are the only ones who will get it.
