  1. I'm off next week Want me to fix it
  2. I don't think a pick would be strong enough. Use a real seal puller and be EXTREMELY careful not to scratch the surface of the crank. I just keep working my way around in a circle ...little bit at a time. I happen to have the proper tool to drive a new seal in ...but if you have an assortment of large sockets you might find one that will work. patience. andy
  3. I know this is in the wrong forum but I wanted as much help as possible. There is a Guzzi video on you tube. its called " Moto Guzzi _ The Sound". Its a red Tonti frame bike with Guzzi green body work. Supposedly it is owned by Mario ...who owns Ristorante Al Verde in Mandello. Also ,Supposedly it has been stolen. Now....all of this info is listed on you tube video. What i would like to find out is ...What kind of exhaust he made !!!!!!or used. I have never heard a Guzzi sound so good....never heard that much bass before. If i didn't know better I would say someone dubbed in a V8 sound track. So in the coming summer months ...someone happens to ride through Mandello... and stop and eat at this Risorante Al Verde....ask him about the exhaust . Then get back to us. I say us, because if you watch the vid i'm sure you'll say I wish my Guzzi sounded that good. thanks andy:mg:
  4. i replaced mine about 70,000 miles ago with derlin 10.00 bucks....works great
  5. Bleed the clutch....clutch plates are ok ...still have almost 4mm of friction material left... Intermediate plate ok ....motor side good By chance reached up and grabbed the input shaft....WTF...ring nut had loosened up on the Splined hub. Crisis averted...back together with it and ride I hope
  6. I was looking for that kinda response ....it just solidified my gut feeling. With 90,000 miles I can't complain to much ...would have liked to have made it to 100,000 but so be it. Reckon I'll go get started on it quote name='thumper' date='25 March 2012 - 04:26 PM' timestamp='1332685592' post='184885'] Mine did the same thing, it was the friction plates they came apart at the rivets. A lot of info on replacing the clutch on this forum.
  7. Let try to be less confusing..... Clutch lever feels good...I can feel the engage disengage point as normal. The gear shift also feels as if it is doing its job....i think I feel each distinct gear change Up shifts are fine ...down shifts are fine ....except when coming to a stop... Then something changes somewhere that causes the clutch lever to not disengage until the lever is 1/4" from being fully out The effect is like popping the clutch. Pulling away from a stop as you give it gas and try release the clutch...the motor is revving up cause nothing is happening and then all of a sudden bang. The screwy thing is its not constant ...sometimes it works right and sometimes it does not. And it usually doesn't when your at a light with fourteen cars behind you anyway ...I will dive into it Sunday
  8. OK my fault.... Yes it is a moto guzzi. 2002 v11 lemans. A Moto Guzzi ? I apologise. Friday and all that.
  9. OK friends and neighbors.... Rode down to Atlanta on Tuesday. What a great day....rolled over 90,000 miles on the way home !! Almost home ...getting off the freeway...downshifting ...get a little engine braking going so I can hear that v-twin.....whooaaa ...freewheeling ..nother downshift ....freewheeling. At the bottom of the ramp I stop ...workin the clutch...feels fine ..plenty of fluid. All of the downshifts felt positive as normal. I have adjustable levers and have my clutch so that about half lever travel things are good. So clutch in I select 1st gear...feels like nothing there...then at the last 1/4 inch of travel it engages completely. WTF...all the up shifts felt and worked fine. Travel a mile so to a stop sign.two down shifts felt fine then the clutch was gone. Open to suggestions but will probably start pulling the motor . Might pull side cover on tranny first. If it was push rod seals I would see a loss of fluid so I don't think that's the problem. So...as batman says...riddle me this robin. What is it ?
  10. My 02 lemans has a Phillips screw holding the knob on. It can be quite the buggar to get off Andy quote name='frankwalter' date='04 March 2012 - 09:52 PM' timestamp='1330894346' post='184462'] Guzz can you please clarify. Am I holding the shaft and spinning the plastic knob or the whole thing as it turns easily clockwise and anitclockwise. Thanks for the help.

  12. That's over a month away.... Are you sure there won't be any oil on the rear tire..... Do ya feel lucky ? See ya there Luigi
  13. Welcome Don't forget to unplug the fuel level sensor before you jerk the tank. The tank my have swollen some from ethanol fuel .... After removing the bolt at back of tank lift up about two inches. Your trying to get the back bottom of the tank above the two mounting Screws for the body work. If it doesn't want to work with you just manhandle it Happy riding Andy 02 lemans 85000 m
  14. Anyone in the states have a rear brake pedal for a Spiney that you might part with ? Lemme know Thanks Andy
  15. i would pm you but you can't have any more messages guess that means its gone
  16. I used the ru-1410 i think that way i could roll them up outta the way one day i'll get around to building a bracket to mount the side covers on. well i dont seem to be smart enough to resize a pic ...if you want to see emm lemme know and ill email it to ya andy
  17. Just use a good synthetic gear oil. I have used all three redlines at various times ...red,blue, and yellow. used mobil 1 now i'm using scheaffers synthetic green i like to underfill mine by about an ounce....this way it doesn't spit it out the vent if you go high speed for any distance.keep an eye on the sight glass in the tranny if you ride in the rain. some folks get a little water in the tranny vent...ends up looking brown. happy trails:rasta: andy 75,000 miles
  18. hot wired the pump direct andy
  19. upon further examination, the 5 amp fuse was blown #1. evidently it supplies some sort of control voltage to the relay. my assumption that a relay is good if used in the headlight circuit. most of the relays would operate the headlight so why would the fuel pump not work. hot wired the fuel pump....it is OK....cut open a good relay and installed it at fuel pump location....turn key on....relay energizes but no fuel pump. check fuses again....this time #1 5 amp blown. replace fuse...fuel pump works now. time for bed....will try and see if relay gets hot tomorrow.. I need a whiskey:drink: andy
  20. upon further examination, all of the 16 or17 relays I have laying around will work in the headlight but not run the fuel pump. I admit being better at mechanical but this electrical is driving me nuts. andy
  21. OK ...the special smoke crap is driving me crazy. After swapping all the relays yesterday and thinking all is well... after about 50 miles today, I running 90 on the freeway and had a couple of stumbles. then about 30 seconds later I'm fighting to get to the shoulder. pull the seat....hand on fuel pump...turn key ...nothing. swap 2 relays ...nothing. all fuses good. long story short... 2 "bad relays". took one and cut it open....appears to be fine...installed it in fuel pump position....turn on key...little contact gets pulled to other contact like I think it should but no fuel pump... What else is there about a relay to go bad? when I first pulled the relay it felt a bit warm....I guess I could be getting to much voltage.anyplace I should check other than at the battery? When the sweat dries, I'll cut open a good one just cause I can. Then I'll find my multimeter and try to get some readings have fun out there andy
  22. actually, I think it was the fuel pump relay....no ...I relay don't know. The 15 amp that blew was the fuel pump fuse of which I think the starter button goes to also probably wrong about that to. I've thought about being methodical in my electric search but in the end, screw it the bike is running. I think these bikes have a lot of vibration that causes the contacts in these relays to bounce around between open and closed. I know its not supposed to be that way but what else can account for the contacts looking burned. I've seen ignition points with 25-30000 miles on them that looked better than some of these relay contacts. anyway...yearly relay replacement has been added to my maintenance list....kinda cheap insurance since this only happens to me when I'm 500 miles from home later andy
  23. I had whatever was the latest greatest dont want to go back out there yet .....you know... mojo and all seems to run now 75,000 guess i'll change my relays once a year. I seem to change them every 16 months cause i have to. i think that will just be part of my yearly maint. andy
  24. Well after arriving home it was pull the tank time. After disassembly of the starter/kill switch.....nothing at fault. check fuses again....15 amp blown...replace....turn on key ....pop!!! replace fuse again....unplug socket to starter switch...key on ...pop it was time to step away....thinking there is a dead short in the harness somewhere....i was about to say screw it ..i'll keep jumping it. pull all the relays....replace fuse...key on...no blown fuse.. start putting relays back in one at a time.....pop...fuse blows again... Bad relay was the cause of all this. guess its time for more relays from Dan. I think i get about 4 sets of tires to a set of relays andy
  25. has not set their status
