02 LeMans 50,051 as of today on the way back from Indy andy
-
Just for the record.. Docc has the last of the Ohlins rear... part # mg-127....Go ahead ..call your sources....NLA !!! Thats not to say they can't be had from the place in Germany or where ever... Yes it is fully adjustable Yes it has remote preload adjustment Yes if you want more spring preload than what it was setup with or that you can get with the hydraulic preload adj...you have to pull the shock. I was hoping that it would suck...or ride like a buckboard. then you could bring it back and I could give you a refund andy

Glad somebody had the rain shot...you guys sipping grappa under the cabana... and I'm 40 miles away at 5000 ft riding through that shiiiit still had a good time I think the best part of this gathering is the fact that we go out and ride And not to forget that we have the best for capturing our events for posterity...our very own Edward Murrow ......Kathi and her sidekick BILL !! see ya on the road andy
-
Ok ...so this is where I the @#$$#!... A 2000 sport with 48000 m....and your how old? So in another 7 years you will have 96000 miles if you keep it that long....at which point nothing will be available for your bike Like I said ...come to the shop ....I'm going to get some too andy
-
even though I only stayed a night, it was good to see the gang (or should I say raiders! ) and meet some new faces. I think F Troop might be fitting I hate getting home and cant find anything cause wifey moves it. I saw Bills picture of the Cherohala but I cant down load mine. rain 50 degrees hail wind....guess I shoulda stuck around. I need to hear more about the cops ! Did you guys add to my tally? Would have like to have seen Bill in action maybe you will get by the shop this week Docc. Later andy

No, the connector is good. I would just really like to get more lite on the road. The Le Mans has a shitty headlight. A 60w bulb draws 5 amps...in theory..20g wire is good for 11 amps. The weird thing is the 30 amp main fuse got hot enough to distort the plastic but did not blow the fuse.Wish I had an extra harness so I could put some 16 g wire in for the whole headlamp circuit. o well ...I need something cold. andy
-
So what size is the wire that runs the headlight? Is it 20, 18, 16 ....I know its small but this is stupid andy
-
You would think as much time as Bill spends taking pictures that he could change the one that shows up with his tag! I look forward to your humorous and truthful account of the great southern spine raid Bill. Sounds like a Civil War reenactment to me All we need now is someone named Sherman riding with us andy

So ...who did I see on a Le Mans on highway 9 in NH on Monday? Red Le Mans ...looked like a Corsa ....riding with one of those saggy tit german bikes ...looked like a rockster... tried to catch you guys ...must have lost ya at a turn or something I was in the gas station at the roundabout.... andy
-
Leaving NH at noon wed.... 1200 miles and see ya in sweetwater andy

Replacing rear brake caliper seals..........NOT!
andy york replied to guzzijack's topic in Technical Topics
Unless someone has boged the seal or piston on disassembly I don't know why the need for seals. This is the same caliper as a lot of the Ducatis use.... It has a composite piston....no rust...etc... I have had mine apart, cleaned, and reassembled with no problems and 50,000 miles unless its leaking ...clean it and reinstall andy -
Great trip report !! I'll go along with ratchethack on the front end anomolys as to overheating/vaporlock....it is very possible. I put 40k on my 02 lemans and never had it happen... many trips of 500 to 958 miles in a day ..hot...cold...rainy... nary a problem. Then last year the planets lined up and the stars were just right and on a short 300 mile day.... vapor lock!!! You can try and be creative and mount the fuel pump in a different location :grin:or avoid idling at the border in 100 heat Lots of the V10s have the pump relocated above the front engine cover andy

Wish I could work something out with one of the guys in Germany to buy the Daytona engine on ebay and ship to the states. oh well ...I guess I'll keep dreaming andy
-
The torque arm bushings held up fine. I'm thinking of changing it out for an ajustable heim joint type of some sort so I can play with ride height. andy
-
Plus ...looking at all the parts catalogues ....only the 1100 sports and the V11's have this bearing. The 850's, 1000 Le Mans and cruisers and such don't have it. Oh well on ward and upward andy
-
Well at almost 50,000 miles it sometimes gets to be a pain in the ass . Not that I mind tinkering around a bit . Even had one of them degreed machinists have a look and he couldn't give me any good reason. I might try turning out a brass bushing to fit in there and see how she holds up. andy

Alright ...I would like the brain trust to tell me why Luigi put the shitty bearing in the outside of the bevel box? You have to disassemble the box in order to replace it and I haven't found a good way of sealing the location to keep water out. Since the axle is captured and doesn't spin....the bevel box is captured and doesn't spin. The ring gear has bearings on each side and the pinion gear has bearings for and aft... wouldn't a bronze bushing or a bushing of some sort work? Open to ideas and options ....not trying to reinvent the wheel ...just keep it going round and round
-
Thanks ..I don't think these folks will touch the Italian stuff anymore andy
-
So ...anybody have an 02 white face speedo that is collecting dust on the bench somewhere? My odometer quite at 45000.1 miles...speedo and trip meter still work. Got the buggar apart ...need the drive gear on the end of the miles. lemme know andy
-
Actually the Gianellis will work mounted low...its just a pain in the arse to do it.. ping me off line and I will send you a pic. I don't seem to be smart enough to resize a pic on my mac that will upload. andy

I've seen some stupid moves in my time ...but andy -
Just curious where the info on the difference between the Scura and other models comes from. How do we know that they are not the same . Inquiring minds want to know andy . The Cafe Sport and *** Corsa models are quite livable once you get the proper spring rates. The Scura isn't, and needs to be revalved.

Oh hell Docc, Change the plates , put some mobil 1 in it and ride I'm putting 150 horse and 100 lb ft of torque to the ground on the wet clutch FJ with mobil 1 and if its slipping i'll fix your GB for free
