  1. To those that are in the know. How much Jaap ? What can you do with it Pete ? Cheers Bruce
  2. "Ride like they are actively trying to kill you !" Cheers Bruce 25 years on a motorbike and 10 years working as a paramedic plus 10 years working with people with aquired brain injury still leaves me enjoying this great pursuit while never relying on my gear to make me seen. My gear is there to help with the physics if it goes wrong and reduce fatigue and keep me warm. Riding is all about concentration in this regard. Some skills, right attitude and emotional state are also key factors. While some colours and different pulses of light and sound can gain peoples attention, i find myself follwing cars in a 3 tonne ambulance with strobe lights and beacons waiting for the driver in front to move over. Often they get such a fright that they pull over nearly into the car adjacent (no head/mirror check etc)- Why are they surprised ? Car windows up, heater/air conditioner on, stereo on, gps on, eyes on speedo so they dont get fined and arguing with the radio/wife etc. Get in a car and your in your lounge room- you do not exist!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Its not the regulator that has corrosion, the rotor once removed has scuff marks on the side of it. The alternator light comes on rarely and seems to fix once the bike is up to speed. When the warning light does come on it doesnt obviously improve by turning the headlight off. I thought it was a charging loss at low rpm that has been made worse by some mechanical rubbing/damage to the rotor. These problems have not manifested in hot/cold/wet conditions and as yet not led to any starting/battery probs-though i havent measured battery voltage/condition in any way. By the way- i want to get a digital multimeter. What properties/ranges/features etc would you guys reccomend as im new to this electrical stuff. I dont mind spending reasonable money on a tool that will last and cover unknown future needs. Cheers Bruce P.S- So is the alternator feeding AC into the regulator and regardless of poss neg wave converts it to a DC output ?
  4. Thanks mate. All wires look good, fuse good. I have had the battery light come on from time to time at low rpm. I noticed some scuff marks/oxidization on the rotor. Could this be affecting my output to the battery ? I still have the original battery and the bike kicks over fine. Cheers Bruce
  5. Hello all, Of the 6 wires from the regulator the two yellow ones are worrying me. Does it matter which yellow goes to the other 2 yellow wires of the alternator ? Hope this makes sense. Cheers Bruce
  6. G'day all in V11 land. I'm after a comple V11 lemans Fairing for my Scura (black prefered-not essential). Hopefully including brackets etc ! Cheers Bruce
  7. The moto one comparisons are between a mistral and a standard crossover with no fueling/timing changes! Regards Bruce
  8. That's my bike ! This comparison was done with no map changes from standard ecu- and as far as i know on the same dyno. Brad from Moto One notes that perhaps this crossover may give mid range improvements with tuning etc though he doesnt comment on possible improvements to top end with the same. Cheers Bruce
  9. Pete- continue, I'm learning something. Cheers Bruce
  10. The varied reactions to this email highlight a number of factors for all of us using this medium to communicate. 1 Tone is difficult at times to convey as far as aggression versus sarcasm versus perceived familiarity. 2. English is not everyones' first lanquage 3. People need to recognise that statements are not one-on-one, and personal reactions on a public forum will often be different than 2 people talking in a pub with no audience. 4. People read a "personal" email and have a "personal reaction" often before they have considered the medium used and the needs of the sender, and then continue to react even though they may know it isnt (in this case) about themselves but the group. (I know it's your PERSONAL EMAIL- but it also serves the function of a public web forum). In this case the personal email and public posts address possible past behaviour and is a reminder to us for future behaviour. This is where the grenade method is less work intensive for the individual and has a dual outcome for the members of the forum. We should have the ability as adults to see the message for what it was, and while our first reaction to it is understandable-a considered response should not really be laden with contempt, anger or shame if the message did not apply to you. 5.The grenade versus sniper method has had a much better outcome as it has included people realising and communicating the value this forum has for them, and appreciation of a person that plays the major role in making it happen. 6. Everyone has something to offer the forum, and I send my appreciation to all who have given much towards me enjoying the thing that brings all of us together here. Cheers Bruce P.S Now everyone back to the cam thread so i can plan my next move for the Scura in March ! Bruce

  12. Does anyone now how the standard V11 (2002) cam compares to these cams mentioned ? Which of the aftermarket cams is most similair to the original ? Does anyone know if these cams are readily available in Australia. Any good companies for overseas ordering ? Cheers Bruce P.S Has anyone else had expierience with premature wear on their cam?
  13. G'day everyone. A while ago i had the Scura heads decked and the cam replaced due to some early wear and tear. The resulting dyno resulted in little to previous excursions and i suspect that a Breva V11 cam was installed-(yet to be verified). In the near future i want to check this and look towards changing the cam. Any ideas ? Not expecting 200 hp !! Different cam and dual plug heads ? (i Have the coils ready) ? Cheers Bruce P.S Mr Roper ! maybe i can bring the bike up late March for a bit of work and a bit of a fang with your new Scura !! Maybe sit in your local pub and talk squish bands !
  14. What are the negatives with Magnesium ? What is the difference in materials/manufacturing process to the PVM wheels ? Price/Availability of both ? Cost to ship down under ? Cheers Bruce
  15. Have a great new year everyone !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cheers Bruce
  16. Checked polarity of all indicator points-they are fine. Ran leds all round today with led flasher-both rears flashing at same time, nothing up front and a weak flashing indicator idiot light. In keeping with Greg's 4volt find on the opposite side of front activated circuit- I found that with a simple bulb type circuit tester a dimmer flash on the non activated flasher side. Cheers Bruce
  17. G'day all I have a led falasher unit thats designed to work up to 30watts so i should be able to use leds, a mix or standards all round if the need arises. I removed the flasher bulb and found that the system still only worked with leds at the rear and standard 10 watt bulbs up front. Normal flash rate. Is the "lights on all around" when leds used on all points with led flasher unit and no other mods ? I havent had this symptom yet. I am trialing all this with 2 led screw in bulbs at a time -not all four. Could the polarity of the front indicators be and issue when i try to use the led in the front ? Perhaps the polarity is different post my front indicator wire burn out ? Bruce
  18. If you are happy to order overseas then a re read to the end of the posts may be of use to you. http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?...60&start=60 If we get enough interest $240 euro delivered. Cheers Bruce
  19. Check these out ! http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=5546 Cheers Bruce
  20. G'day- Lucky i live in the City Sorry 10watt bulbs all round. Osram Italy on them. My bike is 2002 Scura. Single green indicator lamp. Perhaps i had a rubbing mechanical short on the front indicator wires which also fused the flasher. Coincidentally with the 21 watt amber bulbs. Nogbad mentioned removing the indicator warning lamp as a fix to the circuit. Should this work with led flasher unit and leds alround ? I tried this with 10 watt incandescents on the rear and leds on the front- only the rears work Cheers Bruce
  21. Ok ! I can follow the solutions on this thread but could someone answer this (and maybe a quick explanation what is happening in the circuit pre and post wiring changes). Note electronic ignoramus Using led flasher unit, (1) 2 x led at rear and 2 x standard 5w bulbs in front- Normal flash rate front and rear 2 x standard at rear and 2 led up front - nothing- is this a different arrangement to Slug's original problem when he had all lights on ? (2) Somewhere in the threads on this problem someone metioned standard bulbs as 21w. Mine are 5w original-Discovered this after buying smoked lenses for a buell with their amber 21w standard bulbs- worked for a while untill i melted one of the front indicator wires and fused a wire inside the original flasher- Hence now a dedicated led flasher unit which is supposed to run leds and anything up to 30w with no change to signal flash rate. (3) Do i have different spec wiring on my Aussie deliverd bike ? both in regard to the 5w bulbs and the different symptoms to slug when attempting leds without diodes and or resistors ? Or did Slug get all lights on with no diodes and added resistors in series ? Cheers for your time guys Bruce
  22. I had same issues with my starter (same symptoms) on the Scura around same age. Warranty replaced with no change to battery or relays- fixed problem. Sounds like you have ruled out other traditional/likely causes for your problem. Cheers Bruce
  23. So given that a cushier cush may be better for your tush......................... Ratchet mentioned that the hole locations may be significant. If so, any further instruction for the backyard mechanic ? Cheers Bruce
  24. I had my springs replaced some time ago. 1.05kg/mm front and 1093- 11.0kg (110nm?) rear. The damping was changed as well. Now the length (non loaded) of the 1091 spring was 160mm and the replacement with higher rate is 150mm. What if any considerations are there with this difference ? Cheers Bruce
  25. Just to keep this topic going another 5 pages... Given the availability of progressive springs----- To those that may know the design principle involved in progressive rear linkages. Is there room for such a linkage given the geometry etc of the standard swingarm and rear suspension attachment points ? Does anyone have an idea of what this would cost to make ? say 100 units ? Is this a stupid idea ? Could it be anodised a gold like colour to match the Ohlins ?
