I just have the frame back from the powdercoater, and am building the bike. I made a special page on my site for it which I will update frequently. Bike should be on the road in 2 weeks! My site

The odd thing Konrad, is that the stand is to be used the other way around I think, so the handle on the left side of the bike.

or if you want to read it in english: http://www.ghezzi-brian.com/English/Tuning_ing.htm The frames need a 5 speed gearbox.

Just found out that the G&B mufler is made by Quat-D( www.quat-d.com), if you look good you see a qd on the side. G&B doesn't make much, they assemble things. I got an offer today for a racing version for 522 euro. I'm very interested, if someone gets one, to have a sound sample.

I don't disconnect the paralever. The angle the driveshaft makes will be less than original, the less angle the better. The lenght of the paralever is important to have the angle on both joints the same. Guzzi didn't change the pivot point for the swingarm when mounting the 6 speed bx. But the point where the shaft is comming out of the box is 15mm down, and 60 mm up front. So what I do, is bringing both pivot points in the same palce again. The max angle the swingarm ( and shaft) makes is smaller, because the arm is longer. And the further you go from the center the worse it gets for the joints.

Lex, if you make it a littlebit bigger, you can take the plastic thing from the swingarm too. The place where you made it, is the only place to keep dirt away. The thing around the wheel is not effective, because most comes of the wheel at the back. A flat piece of carbon/aluminium will do. Don't need any fiberglass skils for it. Most bikeshops have some flat carbon in stock. Maybe I make one for my own bike too, if the swingarm is ready:-)

Can't you do without the 45 degree thing? If the cable is to short, you can use a daytona cable(15cm longer), only you have to transplant the cable end, because that's different.

Hi Matthieu, sorry to hear you're chrashed. The tailpiece with led is a lot cheaper than an original guzzi part ( 741 euro!, unpainted). You can order the tailpiece with led from Teo Lamers, www.tlm.nl , partnr: 015731350099 for Euro377,311 (excl. VAT and shipping costs)

Here to see that the swingarm is extended. Not yet compete ready.

the swing arm is the same lenght, as are the mounting points, the shaft is somewhat longer because the box is shorter. And the shaft comes 15 mm lower out of the gearbox. Because of that, the swingarm has a big oval hole in it. But regarding to the frame, very little changed from the sport 1100I to the first v11. The le mans and later have an extension just behind the steering head. and the front enginge mount. And the bars between gearbox and swingarm mounts are strengtend.
-
To clear things up, the furia and the V11 silencer are completly different. This because the gearbox comes deeper on the v11. And I think there original source can be different. Paul

they say "size doesn't matter"? You see all sports bikes doing there very best to make a long swingarm, started with the R1. The swingarm angle between min and max height is smaller with a longer swingarm. In our case, from 40cm > 47cm this goes from 17 degrees to 15 degrees with the 12cm wheeltravel.

Well I have these bearings since 7 years. The rearshock is a White Power unit, that's now at the wp workshop to get a revision, they will extend it for 5mm. The aim is to lift the back a bit. The front is going to drop 30mm because I also have WP forks that are 30 mm shorter. The shock has a 2:1 ratio with swingarm travel. So 12 cm rearwheel travel gives 6cm shock extension. That gives extending the shock 5mm stets the back 10mm higher.

I got the pictures from a friend who has a ghezzi& brian and has contact with the factory. I do have another contact in italy, but he only can do it in italian, no english. But if your italian is good enough, mail: funboy@inwind.it another way is to mail Arnold Barnhart, the us ghezzi and brian importer http://www.guzzisti.it/saloni_eventi/Padov...V11scarico2.jpg the guzzisti page with the silencer on it.

the drive shaft stays the same lenght. the wheelbase is shortened 1cm. But in this setup the lenght of the driveshaft only differs 1mm between max and minimum height. Thats diffent than standard! because the centers are on the same place. Guzzi should have done it. But that's always with guzzi, they leave something to do yourself. Or make mistakes, as extending the wheelbase as with the le mans 2001, because the setup on the 2000 v11 was wrong. My wheelbase will be some 1450 mm that's 1475 now, -10mm for the swingarm, and -15 because I have WP forks with 30mm offset, instead of the 45 from the marzzochi

Because I'm busy with my bike, and it's in pieces now, I decided to extend the swingarm some 6 cm, and move it's rotating point 7 cm forward. Extension will be to the front. The V11 gearbox made this posible, so why not take advantage of it? This week the swingarm gets extended, if all goes well. Then I have to make new aluminium plates for the frame, new footpegs/brake/gearlever. And the crosssection pipes that make the region there stiff. In 5-6 weeks the bike has to run again, because of a track day. I you posted.

how ugly can you go?

My story: When I was 18 years old, I bought my first Guzzi, a Le Mans I, later I had a SP1000 and a LM III. Then Guzzi made the Daytona, for me the must have bike, but in the beginning at a price way to high. After 2 years, it's 1994 the price dropped serious, I couldn't resist and bought my first new motorcycle. At first I was disappointed, I expected more. After I let Startwin make a new exhaust system the way I wanted it, I knew what I was missing. I got a lot of midrange torque that you need when you come out of the corner, that makes driving more fun. My wife also wanted to make trips with me, so I made a duoseat, for that the battery was replaced with a Yuasa ytx 9bx. I can recommend that battery to everyone, It's there for 7 years, doesn't discharge in the winter. And placed under the gearbox. Then I went to Mandello for the 75 year Moto Guzzi Factory party, bought there from Ghezzi&Brian a pair of ballhead bearings with a 1 degree steeper rake angle. Makes steering what quicker. In 2001 I send my cylinderheads to Raceco, to put big valves in, with another cam. This year, I made a new seat and aluminium subframe, the goal was to make the back as transparent as possible. I've been working 2 months on this, and am more than satisfied with it. The rough polyester part was for 4 years in my possession, but the problem was that I did'nt want the rear light to hang under it, now I found a LED light that is small enough and has the stamps on it to allow it for road use. Then hours of looking followed, to find the right angle, and instead of driving I spend the summer working on the seat. Because I wanted a V11 gearbox, I bought a crasher. The gearbox fits the daytona, and now I had the v11, I decided to make a seat for it. My Daytona devotion led me to name my own company in Information Technology : Daytona IT. More on the subject can be found on http://guzzi.daytona-it.com On the personal part: I'm married and have one daughter from 10 years old. My education is in mechanics, now I'm working on a school as a network sytem administrator. responsible for 450 pc's , used by 1500 students. I'm living in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. Paul Minnaert

Well, my le mans '01 had an accident, and dropped on the left silencer, so it's position is not as it should be. I compared the hangers, the differ 10mm in offset. The swingarm from the V11 series is 20 mm wider on the right than the 1100sport/centauro/daytona swingarm. So the silencer has to go out more there, where even on a 1100 sport it's not symetrical. I don't believe the swingarm of the first v11 's has less width than the 5.5inch wheeled versions. The frame is 8milimeter wider on the right than the left. So 8mm + 20mm+ 10mm= 38mm more on the right than the left. So that does look asymetrical. Can't hide it.

go for titaniaum, not for the weight, that is no issue, but they look as clean after 3 years as new. Carbon doesn't. It can't handle the heat.

I asked Jens from dynotec, his awnser: > Nür eine frage ob doppelzundung lohnt. Beim Brennraum mit 47 / 40 mm Ventilen immer siehe www.dynotec.de/ Do I need to translate? Here in holland even people with cali's doubleplug them. It's a fairly common practice. Now your v11's come out of warranty, you can make a fine bike out of it.

All the mods make it a real sports tourer. It's maybe enhancing long driving, that looks are killed this way. Only missing a sidecar:-)

The frame looks the same as the one http://www.htmoto.de/ is using for his "bott racer" htmoto is making his own fi system. I had cleaned the engine and pipes before the picture, all that leakage from the carb. paul
