Pete, I just looked at the servicemotoguzzi site to be shure, it seems they didn't change it to roller tappets, When I look now it is just like the old ones. The parts catalog that everyone refers to, was downloaded from guzzi when bikes weren't even in production, so last minute they changed their minds and kept the old system. Only tappets for all engines from 2008-2011 have a new number: B014603.

Snow was mondaymorning on all mountains, on the north side even on 1000 meter. This was at majola/silvaplana. Splugen was closed but the Italians left the sign "open" on in Chiavenna.. Pete, I had the spare parts catalog in spring but never noticed the drawing change, well I noticed that an awfull lot of parts have changed. The 2011 workshop manual shows old pictures.... Ik looks like you ccould fit the whole 2011 valvemechanism on older bikes but it would be expensive. What I noticed in Mandello is that my engine is real noisy when hot, and when cold again, it is quiet.

Where can the photos be seen? http://fastguzzi.nl/gallery/main.php/v/GMG2011/

Yes I will be in mandello, traveling thursday-friday. Have not decided on the route, enough tempting options.

Thank you, Paul, most helpful. You know what the numbers stand for? no, but since you are interested, you can download the map editor free, here: http://ecmtool.free.fr/ and enough maps to fill your whole weekend: http://jpl250rs.perso.sfr.fr/MAPS/ and the forum topic about it: http://ducatidiag.xooit.com/t556-ECM-Outils-de-customisation-de-maps.htm

Pete, here a comparision between the stelvio 52 map and griso 68 map, +10 means the 68map has 10% more fuel injection time. Ignition time doesn't make much between maps. And yes there is almos free software to edit 5am maps, even switch lambda off. fuel ignition

Please explain the 2nd paragraph? The 90 degree one............ the u joint cross's have 4 bearing caps at 0-90-180-270 degrees apart. i guess our driveshaft halves have splines that allow them to be assembled in miss-alignment. which wouldn't allow them to work at all just 1 spline off. but i guess they have the correct number of splines to allow them to be assembled in 4 right angles, which are like mine, 90deg (or 270 degrees) off. BUT the crosses are in perfect alignment, which works fine. BUT the trunions on both halves of the driveshaft are also off by 90 degrees.(crosses still in alignment) so if the shaft was assembled 180 degrees off (think punch marks on top on one half, punch marks on bottom on the other half)then the crosses & the trunnions would be perfect just the same as if the marks were lined up. i hope this makes sense, i'm a machinist & work with indexing fixtures, & machining in degrees every day, but i sometimes am not able to articulate it in words. i haven't had the driveshaft apart, but rest assured i will when i take the wheels off soon for tires. it sure is a mystery to me why someone would assemble it 90 deg off, when the alignment marks stand out like a diamond in a goats ass....... stef I'm not shure if you can only change one part, if the splines aren't welded per set? Then you won't get them right. I would like to see the damage and the boken parts, this is the first one breaking I know of. Pictures please!

I knew it looked strange during writing.

Griso fuel tank fittings: 1100 and 1200 differences

because they are lighter, and have a better power/weight ratio. A current 600 sportsbike has much more power then this Guzzi. And is lighter.

Well I know, the thing is standing 3 meters from me. Base is 1000 daytona, tail is modified Magni Australia. Gearbox v11, swingarm extended 60mm, suspension rsv mille. Headangle 2 degree steeper, engine bigbore 100mm, 1225cc, 115 hp at wheel. Wheels PVM forged alu. Silencer, self designed. As a lot of Alu parts that were self designed and made from billet alu. For more pictures click on banner in my signature. For the v11, depends on you, if you can't handle this bike, a Monster or 600cc sports will be more dangerous. Or you are small and have a low weight. when ou take it easy and take your time to learn, no problem, but if you go with friends that drive like Biaggi, any bike is a problem. Driving alone is better when you have to learn it. Anyway, stay away from the one road we see all day on youtube: Mulholland hwy, else we might see you fail there on youtube. This how it looks today:

made in 2001/2002

>Is it relatively easy to remove the fairing on the Lemans? I'd like to have the bike naked and use the fairing for longer trips. I realize I'll need to add new mirrors, but are there any other considerations I should know about? well a lot of screws, then you find the headlight looks a bit small and mounted to much forward.

yes show your Puch, this was mine when I was 17. nothing original anymore, just like my Guzzi
-
thats strange, in my young years the only Puch Cobra there was, was a heavy one, not such a tiny frame. Also 4 speed engine, later with watercooling. here a real nice pic of the Porsche degined bike.
-
Well cpu not working translates to not well adjusted I think. I suppose the original cpu is in there.
-
Well this one isn't, but they have to hurry, I think in 2013 the euro 4 is there and they won't get that with the aircooled engine. So this could be the last new aircooled Guzzi model, or they wait to long and have to put the new to build watercooled engine in. I did send a mail to Piaggio press office, and they send me pictures in high res. So they even respond. I did have the pictures allready from the Press website. Here are they, high res: http://www.mgcn.nl/downloads/MotoGuzziprototipiCalifornia-Scrambler.jpg http://www.mgcn.nl/downloads/MotoGuzziprototipoScrambler.jpg http://www.mgcn.nl/downloads/MotoGuzziprototipoCalifornia.jpg Without the publishing on Annima Guzzista we wouldn't have seen these. Also not shure how much of this will be in the production bike. On the other hand, the Griso proto was almost identical to production, only a different engine.
