Well, youre right with that. And it's great that some people take the time and money to race a mgs01, most are in the living room, or in hands of less skilled drivers. Imagine what happens when there were 30 mgs there with 30 ducati, chanche that the results are better grow then too.

How much 4 valve heads do you think were ever produced? from 1992 to 98 they have been in production. I don't have exact numbers but not more than 3000 I think. Ok that's 3000 left and 3000 right ones. I heard that story again in Assen from Ghezzi. He wanted to make 40 more, but then they first have to invest in a new mold.

Does it matter? who needs a new bike with 20 small differences each year?

The rubber is theated real bad in there, so compressed and expanded under force. That means also moving along the metal faces. To make sure it doen't wear, I think they recommend grease.

best is to get the shaft out every 7000 km or so, if you have it in your hand, you can feel how it is. And easy access to greasing too:-)

that can't be real, if it is, I take a plane today to the uk to get it. in the pictures, the cars look to have us license plates.

I'nm also in the adjusting thing right now, didn't touch it for 10 years, but now I have to. The previous owner of the engine, shorthend the bar that thightly connects the 2 bodies. This because the cilinders are shorthend, so the bodies are a bit more close to each other. That wasn't done well, so adjustment was each time different. What I see is engine running or not, I still have 0.444 volt on the tps. Full is 4.76 volt. Above a certain voltage the ecu is assuming full throthle.

on the ohlins: if you're 200, than you're heavier then the average italian. So first check the front and rear sag, and eventualy get stronger springs, I think the front is the most soft of the two. If the spings are to soft, you won't solve it with damping. Front springs are the same size for all Road and Track Ohlins forks.

nice writen story indeed. Lot of emozione. I think the results are only so because of Guareschi, he might have won with a rsv factory or 999S. The winner was on a tuned 998 RS Incredible that in his first rounds on the track he went under 1.30

What are they doing with the two mgs01 on the isle?

Richard, I looked in my parts list for 2000 and 2002 models, the spacers in the reardrive and between reardrive and wheel have same numbers. Also the disk on the wheel with the gear, and the bevel gear. All the same. You should measure from outside on the right from the reardrive and compare from that the two reardrives you have. that should be identical. I have a spare y2000 reardrive so if I have to measure something to compare on that one let me know.

We didn't spreak about the v11, but a new version won't be developed. Maybe what they have done so far, new color etc. He said "piaggio split the motorycle market, aprilia for sportbikes and touring for Guzzi". Now you can argue that the v11 is a touring bike, but then they will awnser that you can buy a breva 1100 for that. Every bike they develop costs much money, so depending on what they espect to sell, they invest or not. I think the breva is a good bike, maybe the best Guzzi ever, but if the market buys it, I can't tell. We will have to wait to know. And I can think that when the breva 1100 is doing very well, above espectations they might give guzzi more air, but for now I think they see it as a museum factory where they don't know if it will ever bring them money.

I can't beleive there is so much difference, its easy to see if the casting is different: look at the nose bearing from the small crowngear, the newer ones have there extra parts, if you look at above pictures parts nr. 37

If it feels flat, maybe it's to lean. Try without the pc3, if the bike runs ok, otherwise, you have to readjust the tps, or other settings. It should run ok with the mods you have without pc3. My scura had also holes in the lid and a different filter, ran great without pc3.

Robin, Maybe thighten the head will solve it? Or clean the engine with an engine cleaner, then drive until it's hot, you should find where it starts. The replacement/service cycles in the manual are out of proportion. I'm shure that even after 1000 race km, the cylinders don't have to be replaced. I heard today from Ghezzi, that the mgs heads are machined out of the factory, to get a better quality.

You mean from above the radiator? I've seen 2 mgs01 this weekend, they were absolutly dry, even when pushed beyond there limits.

I was there the whole weekend. From Italy, they were there with 2 mgs01, Ghuisephe Ghezzi was also there. One bike was from the guarechi dealer, the other from the factory. I was good that they had two, the dealer bike had an electrical problem, so after 3 rounds the fuse blows. So the other bike was used for the rest of the training. The same happend the second training. After that, for the race they switched some parts beween bikes, and the race was done on the factory bike. Guarechi started the race on second row, but soon he was on forth place. After one of the tree before him had a problem he was on third place. And so it was until round 10 where a red flag situation ended the race. Guarechi got his flowers. The second race was the same, only the one stayed in the sadle, so Guarechi ended 4 th. I must say is is a very good driver, because there were a lot of bikes that are quicker on paper behind him. On Saturday the circuit had as special guest Loris Cappirossi. He was also in the Guzzi pitbox, he knew Guarechi. I talked a bit with Ghezzi, he called this 2 bikes "development"bikes. I then asked him how that was, with the factory, well he said the factory isn't going to make sport bikes. Aprillia has that role in the Piaggio vision. But what was he doing here? Well that was personal interest. He told me the 2 bikes had very different gear ratios from the production version. Also one bike had a dual exhaust instead of the single one. Works better.
