128.6mph? my 1976 le mans Mk1 did this. No cobra needed.

Yes, orginal with better plates to withstand the power. @hubert This pictures are from Ernst@ world-of-guzzi forum. http://www.world-of-guzzi.de/ivb13/index.php?showtopic=8193 You're correct that this is an aftermarket flywheel. The problems are from years ago, and Ernst showed the picture in an discussion about lighting flywheels. Pretty common knowledge about these ergal flywheels, is that there are 2 versions, and that the lightest one won't last long. I found the resemblance between the failing scura clutches and this remarkable. The forces on both centers are roughly the same, and still I have no defenitve answer how the failure goes, first loose bolts and than the cracks in the aluminium? or else?

They use to have an amount of play that looks not right. But depending on how much play, it canbe wong. Thats fully covered in earlier posts, from pete roper.
-
yes no further damage

this one was only maybe 1000 km old. What the owner thinks is that the bolts presure , combined with alu softness, makes the alu flow away where the bolts are, so the come loose, that will end the clutch in no time. The breakage paterns look like the failed single plates, around the center, and acoss

that's 7500 rpm, just checked in my gearing table.

I just found 2 nice flywheel pictures in a german forum. This is a ergal flywheel, made to be used with the original 2 plate clutch. It didn't last long.:-(

ok I found the details, 4 inch longer as my bike. What surprizes me is the Harley, very protecting their name and even sound, allows lot's of american manufacturers to build clones of their engine. If someone wants to spend money on something special, I have a better one: the NCR Macchia Nera.build almost compete from titan, and with a duc superbike engine with 180 horses. 135 kg's!! There is one and it's for sale. 150.000 euro For less money you get the millona ( 30.000 euro) 84hp and 115 kg! or for 36000 euro with 104 hp ( both rearwheel) and maore expensive parts This one has a ducati 1000 ds engine.

so what's the intended use of such a bike? The only give bling bling names and numbers. Not the weight, or wheelbase/trial/rake. The forks look like placed for a lowrider. Only using expensive parts isn't enough to get a sports bike.

Ruud: I work with Xp too. First unpack the zip somewhere on the d: drive. Then copy the scn_main directory you have there to d:\scn_main . Start the install.bat from the place where you unpacked the zip. This should create a guzzi directory on c:\guzzi , in there you find a guzzi.exe, you can start the program from there or make a shortcut in you startmenu or on your desktop to it. If it works, you can move the c:\guzzi directory to another place if you like. The scn_main dir can be moved somewhere else too, but first get it to work like this moving the scn_main to another place as d:\scnmain might give troubles, if you are not a computernerd. In that case the c:\windows\guzzi.ini has to be edited.

Al, your free play there is the result of the big end bearing play. That should be correct, and if it is, no worries. Otherwise replace the shells there, that's not expensive.

No I don't have that. but check with the sites listed in the links section here. Almost anything is on the internet.

no own experience, but it's an older design. made before the bt010 I think. And since every newer desiged tyre I have feels better, I won't go back in time.

you just have to ask, specialy for you: click here

So that's different from their website? I searched that one and found 24guzzi's, but no mgs01. So what's the deal: price and who is selling?
-
Søren , that image doesn't work for us. Also pasting the link in a new window gives a security error.

I bought a cd with parts lists from all guzzi's from 1974 to 1996 , so starting with falcone to the daytona RS. You can download it here: click here to download it's 187mb the scn_main directory has to go in the root from a drive, the progamm directory can be placed anywhere. the guzzi.ini goes in the windows directory, and adjust it to the place where the scn_main dir is, thet should be in the root of a drive, if you put in in d: you don't have to change a thing. This is what dealers had. It's a bit old software, made for windows 95, no fancy setup, but most get it to work. I got it running on Xp/win2000 and win2003 server. If you don't have windoz, you still get a bulk of tif files from it. But then you only have all exploded views.

Antonio, I think there is some misintrepetation between germany and italy. I read the moto-guzzi.it site article also, what is told there, is that an italian yournalist read the german site and intrepetted the things he read there. What seems to happen here is that the mandello lobby, that wants to hold the factory there is alive again. The whole thing is fueled by the piaggio guy that vissited the factory, and told in the press that he was shocked about the factory, and that moving the production 20 km would be a good thing to make a profitable production. Yes I like that guzzi's are build in a historic setting, but on the other hand, if the same people can build( and keep a job) guzzi's in a modern factory 20km from home, that's maybe the best we can get. Other scenario's are worse. The volume of production in mandello is so low that any other piaggio owned factory can do it. I know that there once was the talk about moving to monza, then there was a huge protest from the workers. I would advise them to think twice now, they might end without a job if they want to stay in mandello.

that was a typo, I meant build in:-) So the oilpickup is in the thing build in, you don't need to make anything for it.

not all forum problems are from hackers. Even if the software isn't from Microsoft there can be bugs.

. What parts will I need to complete the task. Example: Gasket, filter, extended dip stick, parts to extend the oil intake?, brackets, etc. gasket, filter 2. How will I modify the oil pump intake to extend it to the bottom. What material should I use? Should I completely remove the old or extend it? 3. What is the best location for the oil intake? oil intake is boud in as far as i know. 4. Should I completely remove the oil cooler / radiator setup? yes 5. If not, how would I go about mod'ing the sump to utilize the cooler / radiator. 6. Do the US sumps have the sight glass on the side? al pictures I've seen show it on it's side. 7. How will I address the weakness in the kick-stand mounting? Best to order at the manufacturer: moto spezial in germany. Tell them what bike you have and ask to send all parts, I think that you can have the oil glass where you want it. They should be able to answer all questions left. But I bought a bike that had the sump to get one. As a bonus it was an 1225 cc engine:-)

on a not highly tuned 2 valver, there should't be any problem. Get it! Saves some weight too.

even if they don't produce them anymore, there is a large stock, so with a different paint this will become 2005/2006/2007 bikes.
