The guy has been offered a cafe sport as replacement bike, buy they wanted him to pay for the value difference. I Haven't heard how much.

NO I don't know the story on this one, I just found it in another forum. I read somewhere that kawasaki said ot to drive with it anymore. But maybe it's only a problem that these guys do only wheelys with these bikes.
-
So maybe compare with the cost of a complete 2 plate Guzzi clutch? And Roberto, swingarm bearings??? I had to remove them because of the extension of the swingarm, brute force was needed. In the end we welded a bunch on the center. But I had to repaint the swingarm anyway. And the bearings are very luxery, high priced.
-
RAM expensive??, here it's the cheapest you can get. Others have there share in problems, here a zx10r frontwheel, but kawasaki is replacing all frontwheels at the moment. And I suppose the number is much bigger as guzzi builds bikes in a year.
-
That's possible, the one with the tread then has to go to 30mm, and you have to make the 2 bolds to clamp the axle in it. The other side is allready 25 mm as I recollect. For a ducati axle you need 25mm on one side, 30mm on the other. You need an experienced machine shop, if it's not done right, you lose instead of win. Then you need to replace the bearings, and machine an spacer for the lenght between the bearings. Maybe another spacer for one side of the wheel, maybe the old one is re-usable. For the axle you can get a duc 999 axle. For the 4 pad calipers, you need other discs too, because the floaters colide with the calipers. I do have a pair calipers for sale over not to long.

I must say the last generation jap sportbikes has very thin spokes.

If I look at the pictures, the flywheel is under an angle, not where it should be. If it didn't explode like mine, but only did what roberto's did, that is enough to let the startergear do it's damage. And when that starts, the result is clear.
-
I haven't heard it, I wasn't on the bike. But it was different. The problem is, afterwards, because of the damage, it's not so easy to tell what caused the problem. Other than common sense enginering theories. My guess that's from high speed comes because we still don't know about one in the USA, and had 2 in germany.

If the oil light is on during acceleration, it seems to me the oil level is to low. I know the oilpan isn't made very smart. But low oil is the way to get serious damage. If the bike used oil before the recall, I don't know, you should know. Dual plugging has nothing to do with it. Best visit your dealer.

The other one was in france, got a new gearbox from factory The others weren't replaced They look like a ram copy, not identical, but close. No other than I wrote here.

I can only guess what goes wrong. The problem is the alu flywheel, that is the one that breaks. The scura I had, made more noise than usual short before the brakedown. The alu flywheel is bolted on the crank. That's a high stress area. The aluminium is relatively soft, and might flow under the bolds pressure, this giving a less tight bold torgue, giving more room for vibration. Then under the bolts is one big steel washer, the edge of it marking the border between fixed and flexible aluminium. Then you start running the engine, vibration is another thing where alu isn't the right material, and fatigue starts building up. So maybe production tolerances, tightning torque correctly applied during assembly, and balancing the clutch makes the difference between good and bad. A year ago, at Dynotec they told me, in the end, all that sort of clutches will fail. I never heard a thing from Guzzi, They took the clutch to the factory I think.
-
I still havent heard of one braking in the USA, you guys are so slow drivers that the clutch doesn't break.
-
He had 15000km on it. The one I had had less km. I now understand why guzzi made the reenforcement from engine to the back, otherwise the engine would have fallen of in this case , even the bottom is gone.

In germany is another scura with a broken clutch. He was driving 220kmh, when his rearwheel blocked! He pulled the clutch but it still blocked, After a couple of seconds, a big bang and the clutch came free. He felt something against his leg, bigger than a fly. It made a big noise, but he saw that the next parking was 2km away, so he stayed on the bike until he was on the parking. When he got of he couldn't believe his eyes. The bike is now at the dealer until guzzi gemany comes to look at it. And too be clear: this problem can only happen to bikes with the single plate clutch: scura, tenni. This is the 4th clutch in a scura that ends thia way. This is no coincidence. But you don't have to believe me. pictures from clutchproblem

isn't the headlight not the same as some BMW model? I remember seeing that

Paging Paul! Anyone else who has had the sump off.

Pete, I do have a centauro engine in parts, so can do some work for you, I'm not 100% shure they have the same pan. Why don't you make them from aluminium? -
not another hollow frontaxle tread
Paul Minnaert replied to Paul Minnaert's topic in Technical Topics
They are from a mille, it's the same as in the mgs01. Has 2500km= as new Mille's get often sold in parts here, even new ones. And all that doesn't fit, gets sold. -

another picture of the radial calipers -
Today I got the package with my new forks. Will take some time to get in, because a new triple clamp is needed. I think I'm going to make one myself.

Marcus, this was the reason the callback was there. So first find out if your chassisnumber is in the callback range, then find out if there has been a callback in sweden, and then visit your dealer. This happend before, not once.
-
Al, that's correct. you loose weight too.

Supertwin has the 5 speed box, because during development, the guzzi factory wouldn't let G&B have the gearbox, because it was new. Now without mods the six speed won't fit in the frame. The Mgs01 was raced this weekend in Brno at teh Ducati speed week. this is from the Guzzisti site: Proseguono i test in pista della MGS-01 MGS-01 gooo! They continue the test in track of the MGS-01 MGS-01 gooo! According to round To the Ducati Bike Week of the past weekend, show svoltasi to Brno on the circuit that will accommodate the next competition of the Motomondiale, participated two Movement Guzzi MGS/01 that did not be lacking to give show. To the inside of the show they different competitions develop themselves; in the category Open was registered quite two MGS-01: a with in saddle Gian Maria Liverani, already survivor of the attractive enterprise of Albacete and the other with the tester of Motorcycling Federico You. During the competition troubled from the rain the two MGS have make be worth also towards means quite more quoted and being able, concluding to 3° place with You, thanks also to the rubbers rain, and to 4° place with Liverani, leaving itself to the spall, and between the other, movement like R1 and Kawa Z10R. To the first place a Suzuki GSX-R and a Ducati 999R; the four first sorted arrived in the arc of two seconds. Other given interesting it is that in the category Superbike ran a 999R from Superbike 'true' of the team of Haga, driven from Dario Marchetti: the better time on the turn realized from this meteor was of alone 2 inferior seconds to that of the MGS!

Scura goes in for OHLINS work..........
Paul Minnaert replied to dbdicker's topic in Technical Topics
What i've seen is that the foot's are different machined, but are from the same piece of alu. The foots are now the same as the rsv-r from 2000-2002. That's why the front mudgard from the rsv fits nice:-) But the ohlins importer told me that only real difference between all road and tracks forks are the upper legs, machined to fit the triple clamps they are made for. Besides that the springs and valves are adjusted to the bike, or whishes from manufacturer. Inner legs are all the same.
