I found this in italy: http://www.granucciseats.com/

Well, in the past I had such one on the sp1000, standard. But there the metal pin fell off in the oil

Al, GOOGLE!!!!! http://www.megacyclecams.com/

I just got the book from tony foale. It's 500 pages, good balance between the practice and theory. If you want to know how things work on bikes, all discribed, excluding engines. I wish I bought it earlier. I ordered online, had it in house in a week. Some example pages can be found on his site. www.tonyfoale.com

carl, isn't this mounted on your sport1100i???
-
carl, yours is a 2000 model, the 2001 model is the one from the le mans, that doesn't have that thing anymore. And has the extra mounting point to the back.
-
if you look better, this is a sport1100 engine!! See the ignition tower, that's gone in the newer engines, don't know if it's gone in the first v11 series. This sort of pictures are mainly from preprodution samples.
-
CArl, the sport 1100i /daytonars/centauro manual shows it too. So they copied the drawings:-) I know that I saw it on sport1100carb. Also the mgs01 and other ghezzi's have it.

The centauro and daytona RS have only one difference: the cam. Originally they have the exhaust with the nasty thing under the gearbox, that takes all midrange. What a centauro with a decent exhaust can do, can be seen at http://www.centauro-owners.com/articles/palma/ The centauro has the first daytona cam. Which isn't tuned to real midrange either. Today, there are only 4 different cams for the 4V I know off. 1 daytona/centauro( and US daytonaRS) 2 C kit and daytona RS 3 dynotec cam 4 raceco cam( is somewhere in between cam 1 and 2) But a real mdrange cam could be made, but nowone cared for that. I know a guy that mounted a centauro engine in a T3 sidecar combination. He never complained about missing midrange. It made wheely's:-) What can be learned from Guzzi with hanging tits :-)'s ?? The cam in the head design is similar to guzzi as far as I know. What I learnd from a lecture from Hartmut taborsky ( HTM), is that gas flows in the head with a maximum of 105 m/s, no matter how hard you try( only a turbo helps). Power comes from as much mixture with high compression. To get much mixture, you need big intake valves, to have place for big valves you need a big bore. In the same bore you get more intake diameter with 2 intake valves instead of one. With a big piston and 2V configuration, dual plugging helps to illuminate the mixture at the same time. The speed in the intake chanel reaches 300km/h. so that's why a small obstacle there is allready a problem. And also why he doesn't like k&n on the throtle body, air has to much resistance through that. Better a big airbox where the body can get nice air.

The 4v engine is not the thing most tuners are used too. In the first 5 years from the daytona, most owners were still paying interest on the initial buy, and were not prepared to spend serious amounts of money on tuning. A diffent exhaust was enough, and it does make a lot of difference. For me it was the same. As the market is very small, tuners are still not interested in doing things. The only ones who have done things are Jens Hofmann and Amedeo Castellani. Amedeo has stopped development. The 4v engine has a higher reach in tuning, >150hp is possible. That might be not easy power, but 135hp is a good ridable and reliable. And no it's not the next r1, but I see all 2v owners fiddeling around with pistons, dual plugging valves and so on. So the 2v power is not good enough. So why not take a engine with a higher starting point. The mgs01 has nothing changed in the valve train, changes are on bearings, and oil circuit. What goes wrong with the 4v, is the heads brake, because the valve guides are pressed in to tight, from factory. Once this is solved, the engine is relaiable.

Mike, riding position looks good, I don't know how much it affects riding, because you have your weight more backwards. You forgot the /BarRisers/ to the picture links so they don't work all.
-
This is going to be fun with the mgs01, hanging it's whole swinging-arm on there

Who needs braking? Brake lines were to short. I have no oil cooler, only a V sump. They are made by moto special in germany, and raceco sold them too. On a track day with 35degree celcius outside, oil went up to 120 degrees.Jens Hofman from Dynotec says the V pan is good enough to skip the oil cooler. up to 140hp:-)

My that transmision is from a 2001 le mans, I also have a 2000 sport trans, I have to contact the previous owner(franz) for that number. But that one is on the shelf.

So here is my hollow axle picture. The mufler is gone, while I took capt. nemo sugestions to the max.
-
Well if you have problems with the rod, you can always change it againt the one from the first daytona/sport. or make one yourself. Needed a pipe, and 2 from the things on the picture. Called ball and socket joint? I can't figure out why the rubber thing fails, it should get push and pull froces only.
-
Docc, do you have part numbers for the 03 bike? In the old gearbox the bevel is 04762500, same on new bike? Maybe it has a different gear ratio, to support the new speedo? When I get my new gearbox for the scura, I have the same problem. new speedo to from guzzi???, and a tacho also to get the same color? And yes, the 03 engine is flat black.
-
the 2003 models use a bent pipeas part of the cable, they break the cable too:-) but it's cheaper.
-
Why don't you try?
-
Mine was custom made, in a shop in the netherlands, www.startwin.com It's now to the polisher, should shine before christmas:-)

There is a set on ebay now, 9 days to go: now on 500 euro http://cgi.ebay.nl/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2446502353

don't know, these are figures in metrical system, and pressed in the head of the bolt. "normal" is 8.8 there is also a 10.2, and 12.8 is real strong. Normaly they are black, because a normal galvanisation process would distroy the hardning. Guzzi has grey bolts, they are possibly chemical treated to get the color.
-
Doc, shaft bolts are nothing special, only they are 12.9 quality. So a good nut and bolt shop should have them. And the shaft can be best examined when you have it in your hand, if it moves nice, with no play, it's safe

I'm the 9 ah yuasha user. I have the same one 8 years in my daytona. If it starts a daytona, it will do a V11. And there is plenty of power left after starting. Dimensions: 150mm x 87mm x 105mm Weight: 2.5Kg It's now laying on it's side under the tank.

CArl, that means that you have sthings setteld with the ensurance? When front engine isn't connected to the frame, front and rear aren't connected.
