Cheaper wheel replacement and other things
Paul Minnaert replied to callison's topic in Technical Topics
Marchesini and Brembo wheels are the same in my opinion. The order number for the front wheel from centauro and v11 sport is the same as far as I know. What may differ is the bearing size and the width were the brakes are mounted. The guzzi forks are 210 mm wide, ducati has 205 as standard. The 916 front wheel has a bearing with 47mm outside, v11 is 52mm. Doen't mean it can't fit, but measure before buy. The disks from the v11 wheel are 120 mm apart. -
so than spend some money on a pair of ohlins forks, you will like it. There is a cheap source for them.

As a daytona addict I have to awnser. See my homepage for pictures. Are we talking daytona or daytona rs? Basicaly they are easy to do all the maintenance yourself. Just take one for a drive, thats the best way to find out if you like it. I did 10 years ago and got a new one. Weak spots some have: The cilinder heads sometimes crack, somewhere between the valves. The valve guides wear quick, Guzzi didn't use the best material. Can be solved. The daytona and first series daytona rs have staight cut gearboxes, good for power, but not as long living. The daytona has no rear cushion damper in the wheel, not good for the gearbox. The RS has basicaly the same engine, but with tuning parts added, carrilo conods, forged pistons and hotter cam. When the complete stock exhaust is on it, you won't have much midange power, that changes dramaticaly with a good exhaust system. ( I do have one for sale:-) I do like the looks from the fist daytona more than the RS version, but that's personal. A Daytona is a dream for a lot of guzzisti.

I took apart a v11 with a realy bent upper leg, I don't have the idea that the triple is bent. When you take of one brake caliper at a time, you see where it hurts. Other way to test if it's the calipers or the clamp: take the bolts ogf the calipers, now brake hard with the calipers on the disks, when you realease the lever, the pads should come off. Dismounting the forks is the best way to check if legs are bent. But you have to know where to look, and the mechanic maybe lacks that:-).

there was one on ebay this week, bids got up to 16000$ but reserve was higher, buy now was on 18000$

back to the topic. I relocated the horns to the front, left from the headlight, pointing down, so the noise goes out. My wires were even long enough. Mayby different on the v11.

I was at the TLM shop today. Ive seen the v11 le mans with that stand, looks good in up position. They have them for the v11sports and the v11 le mans and newer. just add which you need at the order. Order direct at TLM , it's the cheapest.

hydraulic clutch system for guzzi before v11
Paul Minnaert replied to zebulon's topic in Technical Topics
Hi Jean Marc, I read on their website that you have to use a 10mm pump, makes very much difference to 15! you can translate the site with babelfish ( http://world.altavista.com/tr ), or use this link: http://www.moto-spezial.de/translation.html -
One off the other issues this guy faced, was the rear wheel bearings broke, also during driving. So two times he got away without personal damage, he will never try a guzzi again I think. I didn't know until this thing that the scura's has the single plate clutch, I thought it was only the rosso mandello.
-
He was on the road with 180km/h when clutch parts were thown out, next to his legs. He wasn't hurt. bike is from july 2002, 12.500km old....
-
Because he repaired an oil leak at the rear of the gear box(that his dealer failed to fix), he doesn't get warranty anymore:-(

I do have a arai quantum, had to buy a new one, because my old quantum was to old to be allowed on track. It's nutral at high speed, not very quiet, but excelent ventilation when it's hot.

Jaap, I just got a mail that he is going to take my offer. That will be the first non black engined scura. As I change the engine cases, i think they won't be black.

Hi AL, I made a picture so you can see whats inside. As you see you can just hit the spacer comming out the bearing, to get the (in the picture right)other bearing out. Then it should be simple. -
Jaap, Don't tell that to anyone, I made an offer on the whole bike! I do have a picture of the damage it has, you ain't going to like it. Asked him if I could post the picture.

Hi Mike, in the tread "Hollow front axle?" you find a lot of infromation. Part for rear is mg127, according to the ohlins website. Front is a bit more difficult, the forks as mounted in scura and corsa rosso are not normal available. I did manage to find someone who sells them in italy, I got one and Al and Jaap too. I know a guy in germany who also bought one, and now wants to sell it. But he wants 1600 euro for it, it's a new one. I can see if I can get one for you in italy, mail me private if you are interested. The forks I'm talking about just slip in. Made in 2003, brand new stuff.

Al, I know that a time ago in a discussion about mudgards, I made a drawing from this, and how to make it, and I didn't "invent " it but, I have seen it before from a race bike. That can be the raceco daytona or the TLM bott racer.

Ohlins rear: Shock absorber length 286 mm Shock absorber stroke 70 mm Spring preload 15 mm Rebound damping adjuster 14 clicks Compression damping adjuster 12 clicks see ohlins rear setup
-
Or you mean: from the manual: Front disk thickness: 4,1 mm. Front disk thickness, wear limit: 3,9 mm
-
Doc, The rear travel isn't that short. The ohlins manual states 70mm travel for the shockabsorber, so 140 mm wheeltravel. Guzzi states on their website 128mm for a le mans, so that shock is doing 64mm travel. I my experience, the spring on guzzi's were allways to stiff. But I'm running an old bike, never driven a v11.

The only stand I find in the TLM online database, for the V11 costs 124 euro ex VAT. So if you want one, you are way cheaper with ordering at tlm direct. They ship worldwide.

You can try sending them a email? ufficio@galassetti.it

The older forks have foots for the smaller axle, so a different number isn't strange.
