Al, I've seen pictures of cafe sport versions with the hollow axle. Not on the factory pictures. The feet are different from our oem legs, that's the difference with the R&T forks. I think this is a stiffer connection to the calliper. I think about changing the callipers to the newer brembo ones, like on the 999 and rsv-r. The have 4 seperate brake pad, instaed of two. They are cheap from the ducati performance catalog. Much cheaper than bought seperate. v11 cafe with hollow axcle

Why do you want silencers at the rear? The v11's line isn't made for high to the seat silencers. The 916 was designed to have them like that, as the mgs01. Altough I don't like the mgs01 pipe on the left.

Then I wouldn't polish the gold off. I like the gold, and it will last better than blank alu.

no safety for the nut, but its not crucial, if you tighten the 4 axle screws. You can drop a bit of loctite on it if you are not shure. I put the bike on the wheels, and the sag is 30mm, from the ohlins website I read that it should be even more, so I'm interested what lindeman thinks about the springs. And if he can see what rate are in? But I first will try how it is, before changing. There is a number in the inside of the brake mounting point, with that you should be able t source the forks, but It's no afteramket ohlins, because they only sell them with the sort of brake mounts that you can detach. My forks were in new condition, no schratch at all!

Ok al, the triple clamp mount is the same =54 mm, the lenght is 10mm extra, so you let it slip the gold 10mm more above your top triple clamp. So you can see it! I just put the axle in, with the original v11 spacer, fits like a charm. My triple clamps are from Wp. but are the same size as guzzi makes them. Also the distance between the legs is the same.

I ordered at a local ducati dealer. So this is the normal ducati delivery proces, only they told me it could be a week, but then added that there was a 24hour service also, with no price difference, so I asked for that:-) Al do you think after all the measuring that I tell you to buy an axle that won't fit in the forks? AND that I order one myself if it doesn't fit? So here all sizes:

After 45 replies on the subject, here it is, delivered in 24 hours from bologna to the netherlands!!!! Why can't Guzzi do that? cost not more than normal= 65 euro for the axle and 7 euro for the alu nut.

Mike , Do you think the showa is so much better to do all that work? Why do you need to machine the wheel? the 6005 bearing is 47x25mm, that size is used on all ducati's. Maybe Chriss Barrett can use your marzochi, as he is looking for parts after his accident.

1) Ducati 999 front spindle/axle: ducati part number 819.1.043.1A 2) Ducati 999 spindle nut: 748.1.014.1A 3) Ducati 999 washer: 8000.70119 Ducati 999 axle/spindle,is 25mm outside diameter. 4) One 104mm long spacer for the space between the bearings in the wheel Inside 25mm /outside +/-30mm 5) New bearings? This is one question I am particularly unclear on, although once I get my parts I'm sure it will all become quite clear. But never-the-less, with the Ducati axle, will I need *one or two* new bearings? You need one new, but only if you manage to get the rest of without toutching that one, so better buy two: 52x25x15mm == 6205 - 2rsi

Al, after all the measurments i've done , you still go for stock? I just ordered a 999 frontaxle, see if the 24 hour service from ducati works. :-) You only need one spacer custom made, that's the one between the bearings. The one on the outside, you allready have on you bike. Yesterday, I finaly got my PVM wheel and RSV mudgard.

Gel batterys can be mounted in any position, only not upside down. Leaking has not ting to do with the position, it should be completetly closed. But you have an ITALIAN gel battery, best you cn do is buy a yuasha ytx9bs, smaller and stronger, the same one I have for 9 years in my daytona, on it's side!

Question: Opinions on Carillo Rods
Paul Minnaert replied to al_roethlisberger's topic in Technical Topics
Al, Only the 1100sport corsa and the centauro/daytona RS/daytona racing had the carillo rods from factory. If you see the carillo rods, and the guzzi rods( picture somewhere on the raceco.com site), then you are ready to spend the money. I never heard of negative things about using them. But if you get 500 $ more fun, I doubt that. And since you are not interested in racing, or high revs, don't do it. Better spend the money on the heads or nice pistons. If you want to spend. -

You can't just buy a shock with the right numbers, and expext it to work, the 46hrcs number says little about the shock, Then the lenght is different, the internals too, a shock that works with a linkage, is completly different from one that is working without. Don't buy just any shock of it's not made for the v11. cyclemall.net can order the v11 shock for you I suppose, I don't think they have all shocks and forks listed in stock. They can give you a price. You should have: Öhlins shock absorber Part No. MG 127 Type 46HRCS Length 286 mm Stroke 70 mm • Type 46PRC with hose mounted reservoir, easy to fit where it is easy to reach. • Fully adjustable single shock absorber. • Improved cooling gives more consistent damping and longer damper life. • Features compression, rebound and hydraulic pre-load adjuster. H = Monotube with Hose mounted reservoir. R=Rebound damping. C=Compression damping. S=Hose mounted hydraulic spring preload And the 46 stands for 46mm -

In the usa, you can try www.motowheels.com, they dont seen very expensive. You should have the: öhmg127 46HRCS 998,-euro's in gemany, retail. -
983 km for Jaap to mandello, see www.reiseplannung.de The crosspipe is good to be a bit loose, The 2 cilinders do move you know. I had my welded pipe under the oilpan cracked because of that.

The paint from the v11 comes from http://www.lechler.it , maybe dropping some emails there?

I was talking about turn signals, well fbf acts very quick: see what I saw here, from fbf
-
What bothers me the most in both fendereliminators, is that the turm signals used are way to big. They look like a pair of tennis balls. And the original guzzi rearlight is to big in my opinion. But I might be biased, as I produce the ultimate fender eliminator:-). The fbf thing might look a lot better with the micro kellerman's. It's all about style.

I think the stifness of the frontaxle is important in the total forks stifness. And because i've leanred mechnics, I know that the bigger the diameter , the stiffer it gets. When I can make the bike better with so little effort, I sure do. I don't have to make parts for it, the sizes are the same I have now with the WP forks, there I have a hollow axle too. The PVM wheel will give me work, it's made for a Honda. I suppose a corsa rossa axle will fit to, but the finish is not so nice, and I don't know how long guzzi will do with getting me one:-). There's no dealer nearby with a corsa rossa, so if you meassure it, I tell you if it fits. I suppose the corsa rossa has on one side of the wheel, a bearing with a bigger inner diameter, there is a spacer in, comming 25mm out of it, and adjusting the inside. Messure that before mounting, because they are the reason from wheel bearing failiurs The scura axle is to thin. A shame in such good forks.

I did my homework: Aprilia axles are to short only 250mm. Ducati axles are 25,9 cm long, that's good. The older ones ( 916/998) have the 30mm piece 64mm long, the 749/999 have that 30mm piece 57mm long, and that's just right. The 998 one costs 60 euro's at the dealer, so the 999 shouldn't be a big difference. The bearings have the number 6502-2rsi, same as one side you allready have, but put 2 new ones in. The you need a spacer from 15mm on one side with a hole from 25mm in it, for one side of the wheel. Then you need a spacer between the bearings, 104mm long with an 25mm hole in it. The combined speedo/tacho is from moto special, Jean Marc has one with the injection electronics integrated.

John, I suppose you have different forks. I have a 2001 le mans axle here, but thats not going to fit the ohlins. One side will(25mm), but the other side has to be 30mm, maybe if you have a nut with 18x1.5mm treath inside and round 30 outside. I think the duc axle isn't going to work, because the forks are 5mm closer together on a duc, so it's 5mm to short. A duc axle is 25,9 cm. So as it looks now, I think the 2003 le mans axle will fit. But I need it's measurments to know for sure.
