  1. So you have a superbike fork and tell us to not buy one? disappointed? Do you know the lenght of the ducati axle? I think maybe it's to short for the v11. And congratulations with your daughter!!
  2. I don't like the sillencer positioned like this, as you want it this high, it should follow the lines of the tail, what's not the case here. Also the pipe is very edgy, not "flowing" in the silencer. And this duc 916 look is classic by now, but the new thing is one silencer under the tail, see 999, cbr600rr, mgs01! Most 916 imitations were worse than the original, so why want it on a v11 where the tail is not high enough, to put much between tyre and tail.
  3. Further looking on the guzzi website, it looks like the corsa rossa hasn't a hollow axle, but the normal le mans 2003 has! It's mounted the other way around, but the total lenght should be checked, because the thickniss of the forkfeet might be different. I will check the aprilia and 998 axles lenght because the guzzi axcle finish is not so nice.
  4. like this?
  5. I think there is PE on it, PE= Polyethylene Semiflexible, melts & smears when grinding, usually semi-translucent. Overflow tanks, inner fender panels, valences, interior trim panels, RV water storage tanks, gas tanks Method B w/ polyethylene rod (5003R4) or Method C w/ FiberFlex (5003R10) Applying filler or painting is nearly impossible
  6. so the mgs01 has a different primary ratio, so much longer that alan cathcart was complaining that he could't get past 4th gear. A friend made a compaison for the different ratios, all at 8000rpm, km/h daytona 230 daytona RS 232 mgs01 246 V11 226 And the 4v engines run happily over 8000rpm Mine does it's 8000 rpm easy in 6th gear. For me 230 is fast enough. But I don't think much will be changed in the 6 speeder, except the primary ratio.
  7. Yes they have a cush drive, that benefits the joints, reardrive, and most important the gearbox. The gearbox is expensive piece when you get problems there and don't have a spare:-) Can't believe guzzi is doing that to the mgs01 too, they have no cush drive either. It's easyer, cheaper and lighter without cushdrive. The pvm wheel has a bearing in the wheel on the right side, guzzi only has a bearing in the steel part that's not solid connected to the wheel. From construction point of view, guzzi is missing a bearing there. Maybe that's why bearings go fast? On the front wheel, the problem with bearings comes from the bearing spacer that is not the correct size.
  8. a set 5 spoke pressed alu for the V11 costs 2170 euro. If you want a realy nice new rearbrake with it, then it's 2593 euro, including disk, caliper and mount daes mototec website
  9. Thats partly because the is no damping in the wheel. I like the looks of these wheels a lot, but don't want without reardamper anymore.
  10. The v11 sport specs here are from the 1999/2000 model, the v11 le mans pictured is the 2001 model. So this is old stock, and the website is maintained by non guzzi guy's. This is a comercial website, and guzzi can't be held responsible for what's on there.
  11. Maybe the first series v11 in 1999 had wp, as leftover from the sport1100, all others have sachs. So where did you get the info about the WP unit?
  12. weight can be saved on a lot of places, some more expensive than others. You can end up having spend 2 times the new price, on extra's, if you go all the way. My friend has replaced all bolts with titanium, something like 5 $ for a small bolt, are you counting? The battery can go to 9AH, if you buy the right one. The oil sump with cooler can go if you buy a V shape sump, that's lighter. I had a alu swingarm here from a german special builder, It looked lighter, even feels lighter, ony it was the same weight:-) The tailframe is heavy, when you don't need to be with 2 persons with lugage on it you can loose a lot here with an alu subframe. The moere you do, the more expensive it gets. Wheels are an interesting thing, only one brand makes them with a shockabsorber in the rearwheel: PVM, count 2200 euro for a set. I just got a front wheel from ebay, see the picture, this is only 3.7 kg. Now looking for a rearwheel:-)
  13. Joe you don't want it to look this way? I think this is ugly. More pictures on: http://www.klisch.de/daten/info/sonder.html
  14. Is that messured from top clamping area to the center of the axle?? The diameter Guzzi uses comes from using WP forks in the centauro/daytonaRS range. They are 54mm clamp size, and Guzzi still uses the same tripple clamps. So using forks with a uppper and lower clamp of 54mm is the easyest way to go. All WP forks have that I believe. All modern sport bikes have a lower clamp thats thicker, and a smaller top size. I you think about making a duc clamp fit, be warned, the steering pin is 25mm on a guzzi, and more on a diuc. Also the lenght won't fit. So if you have no connections to someone who can make a new steering pin: You're in trouble. Buying an aftermarket trippleclamp isn't going to work, look nice, price very expensive, and normaly won't fit. - upper triple diameter 54mm - lower triple diameter 54mm - OEM clip-on diameter(should be the same as upper triple) 54mm - free length...top cap to center axle 760 - axle diameter = on modern forks 25mm, with one side 30mm that goes to the bearing. - caliper bolt spacing is nice with 65mm - Will the stock fender fit(how do we determine that by measurements/technically?) Stock fender won't fit, unless you have forks with WP sizes. That means, there should be 2 holes near the axle in the front. New fender can be of a scura, or aprilia RSV. We should try to put this together for both '00->'02 bikes, and for '03 forward. No difference for the models in fitting I think. Final question, if one does get a fork that has a larger diameter axle, for example such as is found on 2003+ bikes, can one simply change out the front bearing/axle to the correct diameter, or does one have to get a new wheel as well? The bearing in the v11 wheel is dimensioned large(52mm), so putting a bigger axle in is no problem. I only made spacers new. In fact the outer bearing size for a 998 wheel is much smaller(47mm).
  15. Al, what you'll also need is a triple clamp. Fender doen't fit, need a ducati fender. Duc forks are 730 long. With triple clamp it's more expensive than a fiting ohlins that fits the guzzi tripleclamp.. I yesterday got a mail from the guy if I needed another ohlins, so take your chance now . With the scura ohlins you'll also need a fender, look at the scura pictures, that's different. I think a aprilia rsv fender will fit.
  16. Did they sell it for the v11??? The 14mm extension means the rear is lifted 28mm as is a 1:2 ratio. Does it realy hit the swingarm?
  17. Joe, the 2 pipes originate from the daytona, there the whole headlight/fearing is mounted on them, later the le mans used it also to mount it's faring/headlight on. And now the v11 cafe, has it's small fairing/speedometer mounted on it. So it should be enough for your lights only. But why mount them on the frame, ond not on the triple clamp? On the frame they have to be far front, so the steering will work. Or buy the G&B furia headlightset, that will mount in a vertical posistion. I've seen somewhere a v11 with that arangement.
  18. First what crosses my mind is that you have to go to switserland, got to the gothard pas, , furkapas, grimsel pas, sustenpas. taht's within 100km from mandello, the weather should'nt be bas, if it's a bit clear there, you'll never forget it. If you havn't had enough after that, goto chur, st moritz, zernez, stelvio pas,pao di gavia, ponte di legno, colico, mandello. A lot off city's are worth seeing, but goto: bologna and firenze. Milan is not the most interesting city. If youre going more south, from firenze to roma, the autoroute is one of the most beautifull i've even seen. Or do that by train. For eating, look where the italians are eating! In september, a hotel is no problem, don't book in advance, just stop where you want to sleep. The country in the north starts with mountains, until the line milan/venice. From there it's flat, and at bologna the mountains start again. I've been a lot in italy, so if you are more specific what you want to do there, I may have more advice.
  19. Jaap, they are fitted to the front of the upper and lower tripple clamp I think.
  20. What are the standard scura spings rated, is that to soft?
  21. link to the old page, with mail for the 1200euro forks
  22. Nothing adjustable, you can change indeed the way to mount and add degree to the rake. I have them for 6 years now. You only have to look good that the excentric ring is mounted right, ie: the thinyest part exact facing back- or in your case frontwards. :-)
  23. Well Al, I told the whole forum about these forks, 2 month ago, wenn the discussion was about forks, but nobody was interested, so I decided to contact the guy myself. He has 2 new ohlins forks, just the size to slip into a V11. 770mm long. Couldn't resist. His friend has 3 pairs for sale too, but these are 1200 euro. So if you are interested, Jaap maybe can pick them up? Or I ask the friends email, and you arrange it yourself. Thes forks were advertized on many places on the internet, www.moto.it, the classifieds page from guzzisti.it. Good source for me is also www.mobile.de , living 50 km from the german border. But ebay is also a good source, only sometimes things go too expensive. Sometimes Ohlins on ebay go for nearly new price.
  24. Lowering the back??, I see no point in doing that. If you want to lower 30mm , the shoch only needs 15 mm shorter, because the 1:2 lenght. MAybe change the top mounting point, another hole? I just bought ohlins forks. new, from v11 scura.
  25. Fork lenght is allways maximum extended. Tne 2001 le mans forks I have here are 760 mm long, with clipons mounted on the triple clamp. But that year the frame was modified at the stearing head, to make it longer. So before that the forks were also 760mm. The clipons make the forks 20mm above the clamps. So 700mm forks are to short I think, 730 will go, just a bit on it's nose.
