  1. What is this muddy mess sticking to the engine side? That's your engine, or just another worst possible internet find?
  2. Spread it in Japan. Nr 2 probably is overthere already. They pay the really good prices for collectibles.
  3. And even then there's still the question whether they must be changed or not. I opened my engine at 125.000km because the valve train then was really noisy at higher revs - that is around 8000 rpm. So what ...
  4. I'd check the side cover mechanism first. The other side is rather robust. When you say you have only 1. and 2. then take the cover, plug on the lever and check whether you can shift the wheels up and down through the gears.
  5. When the side cover is off the slightest miss alignement of the forks will lock the gears. So that can be just normal.
  6. That's a must have. The first winner didn't have the money for it, I'm curious where it will end this time.
  7. Remember the daylight part. Just my 2 cents. Maybe this can lighten up your mood a little: http://johnmerlinwilliams.blogspot.de/2008/12/turning-riders-into-mechanicspart-i.html http://johnmerlinwilliams.blogspot.de/2008/12/turning-riders-into-mechanics-part-ii.html Didnt read it myself so far, only found it a moment ago while searching for the quote. And of course this one (in another context):
  8. Come on, Docc, it's a very typical Guzzi thing that you're going through at the moment. It's all about the game and how you play it BTW, I'm totaly sure that the original quote was "Guzzi, making riders to mechanics" or so, the 'electricians' was just a later rip-off.
  9. Next time the clutch is blocked, open the bleeder as a check whether the line/ the master is blocked. I haven't seen the rubber parts of your damaged master, in case they were damaged, too, perhaps small particles went down the line and now are blocking something. Perhaps...
  10. Right, I remember the broken spring. Have you started a thread describing your actual clutch problem somewhen?
  11. You checked the master cylinder? You wouldn't get spare parts for it either (or was it the brake?), but at least it would help to avoid too much wasted time and efforts. The clutch of my Greeny has seen over 200.000 km. Splines are worn, steel discs are coloured, friction discs without visible wear. It worked perfectly, probably still would.
  12. What scary V11 flywheel? Should I be concerned? Talking about attention: I learned, over the years, that some parts like it dark, no direct daylight. Hydraulics belong to this tribe. Leave them to the pros, not because "It's Dangerous!!!", it's not, it's because they're sensitive and spares are often hard to get.
  13. You really do think that this tiny square seal could hold back the clutch plate and so be the cause for your clutch problems? You know what hypochonders are. Hypochonders' favorite are the pharmacies' news magazines with 'Deadly virus detected below the North Pole' and the like. While hypochonders search such magazines, V11 owners search the forums. So you forum flooders have a certain responsibility for them. Think about it.
  14. The lever is working, goes up and down and centers inbetween but the gears don't follow, or is it that the lever has stuck, doesn't come back for instance? edit: one has to be quick here
  15. Pete Roper?
  16. Probably a good decision. The summer is short. Just watch out for changes.
  17. "Guzzi - going out of business continually since 1921" and "Guzzi - evolving drivers into mechanics since 1921" Both found here, the second being my favorite quote. Just forgot who earns the kudos.
  18. Mongolia?
  19. Sorry, no, not the aerosol/spraycan. This here:
  20. I use "Hammerite" all-in-one rust protection 'red'. Though it sounds somewhat non-continental, I'm not sure whether you can get it in the US. It fit's nearly perfectly.
  21. Aaaaah! "Chiavi!" ( > "keys" Look up 'Chiave Inglese' - we call that 'Franzose'
  22. That was probably a cold engine. In the morning I can watch the same, on hot days' evenings and/or after some Autobahn rush sometimes the light flickers at low idle already (100°C). Nice find, by the way. In most shops nowadays it's nearly impossible to get a spare part just by description. Either you have a correct number or the car documents or you're wasting your time.
  23. .. what answers another question I "Always Wanted to Know []But Were Afraid to Ask" This morning I made 60km in heavy rain, the pressure light brightly on for nearly the whole distance. What's the problem with your's? Hubert
  24. You made me look it up, man. Indeed we have 21mm plugs and wrenches, or should I say "luckily" 13/16 equals 20.6, by the way.
  25. Not over the internet. What if you check TLM for this? You're far away from his shop?
