I know this from mine, too. Hot ambient leads to hot oil and above that the idle goes down also. I don't worry as long as the light goes out the moment I touch the throttle. I would say that's just normal. You use 20W60? Hubert

I like the washer. Good idea. And the overall rather minimalistic approach. Hubert

Looks very British to me. Have fun in the Alps.

Mine starts pinging also as soon as temperatures go over 30°C, rather seldom over here. The only thing you can do is to look for the highest available octane fuel and or shift down a gear. Keep the revs high and the throttle down and the pinging will nearly vanish. I wouldn't change TPS or phase sensor settings. Any possible gains so or so would be marginal. Hubert

Get out, let it run and pull and have fun with it. These holes aren't meant for peek-a-boo. Hubert

Could it be a bouncing steering damper? Hubert

Not if I ask the specs for these rings (calculation still outstanding). Anyhow, a dynosession is something rather spectacular, isn't it? I well remember some strange paniking around 7000 when suddenly the midriff started to flutter Hubert

V11 Sport reaction rod: compression or tension?
luhbo replied to mistercristo's topic in Technical Topics
Guzzi uses 2 U-joints ever since they brought the V2 to the market. The difference between now and then is that on the former bikes the reaction moment went straight into the swing arm (wheel accelerates right -> swing arm turns left), nowadays the counter moment or reaction force is balanced at the frame (and it's tension, as correctly stated already by HeliJim). The different kinematics of course demand different locations of the U-joints, independendly of any moments or reaction forces. Hubert- 7 replies

RPMs at this ring are rather low, so I'd say the risk of a sudden and fatal failure is rather low, too. What if you just watch it another 4 weeks? "Some" years ago it still was a well accepted fact that one or two drops had to be under every hot machine. Hubert

(I think) I remember I read something about connecting these recs directly to the battery. Do you have yours connected directly to the battery or can you still switch it off, together with the ignition? Hubert

You can get such things from deep inside Russia or China nicely made from Titanium or Inox for far less than 20USD. You've to know where to look and then take some hundred pieces. So nothing for a private venture. You remember the pictures of this special Scura from the Isle of Man? The Titanium Ex-Box was Russia made. Very nice piece. Hubert

Well, the Oranje Tee and the red skin - at least some faint hope on Dutch being the answer was legit. It's not alone the socks in the comfy floppies, it's more the baby blue what really bites Anyway, thanks for your sympathy Hubert

Those 3 blokes on the right of it, were they Dutch or were they German? Hubert

Ducati Goes Green
luhbo replied to helicopterjim R.I.P.'s topic in Special place for banter and conversation
Not an illness like that. A motorbike, 60 Diesel HP, 4 gears. You wouldn't want anything different once you rode one (I guess ). Hubert -

A shame. I'm really waiting for a Diesel. -

You see 3-cylinder Diesel conversions based on Triumph frames from time to time, at least over here. They mostly use Italian industry implants, also Daimler SMART engines are a good fit. This gives very nice bikes, not the fastest, though, but for every day use on country roads this concept is long overdue. Hubert -
Start at the master cylinder. Sometimes somehow some oil or grease finds its way to the internal rubber parts what could cause similar effects. The master piston, its rubber sleeve at least, gets sticky. But then, this you should notice when you engage the lever as well ... Otherwise, rip it apart. Hubert PS: ich seh grad: Köln. V11sport liest du nicht mit, oder^^ Dieter ist das letztes Jahr mit der Bremse passiert, einfach die Manschetten gequollen. War ihm eher peinlich, weil wie kommt da Öl ran

.. or you just replace it because the coil wire is broken. That's quite common and the symptoms you mention are typical for that. Hubert

http://www.danielsternlighting.com/home.html nice site about relais, aiming headlights, switching to HID or not, and more. Just one from thousands of the same type. Hubert

The price is insane. Besides that you need the lower clip ons for that fairing. Hubert

End cool! The less cool thing is trying to get one. Pricey and hard to find. Those that go abroad are the left overs, quite the same way as it is with the US stuff exported to us.

I still wait for the day when finally one of you hobby sparkies let the smoke out of the whole bike, hopefully out of his own then Hubert
