  3. In fact it shows so many fine details and bike specific solutions that most probably Guzzi has bought them for their yet to come big tourer, not vice versa. Besides that it's quite hard to come behind who's been working for whom, officially as engineering support or behind the scenes. There were a lot of specialised freelancers on the market, in the same way as it is still today. Below is a picture from a Mick Walker book, showing a small Gilera project from '62. The interessting part is the lower right corner. What V-engine was standing in Gilera's race shop at this time? And why? Development job for another company? For doing field-studies? Hubert
  4. Well, the Roper plate is sort of a rather sensible/sensitive (whatever is right here) topic, especially if one says the engine feels quite ok even without one of those parts. What these engines really don't like are oil filters coming loose, or as it is in most cases, filters with two instead of the one proper gasket, the old one sticking still up been overlooked and later on pressed out. Normally you have to try really hard to ruin the V11 engine. I'm "trying it" with lean fuel maps, low oil levels, extensive WOT orgies on the Autobahn with the bike fully packed, red idiot lights coming on on a semestral basis - since 160.000 kms with no success. What I didn't try out so far is the lost oil filter scenario - I'm probably just not old enough for that yet. Hubert
  5. 4000 miles and perfect condition would give a minimum of 5000 Euros in Germany. I'd call for 6000 actually. It's the 4000 miles. Hubert
  6. remove/loosen anything attached to the t/t, loosen or remove the center nut and loosen the two clamping bolts. You have to loosen the handle bars as well. Then lift the t/t just enough to be able to push the spanner under it and tighten the nut just enough to get rid of the mentioned play. Especially with used bearings IMHO it's much better to stay slightly on the loose side. Otherwise you risk to get a snappy steering head. Hubert Edit: dissasemble the whole front and you can check whether the s/h bearings are properly lubed.

  8. To me it looks as if tank swelling is a US only problem. Maybe it's not the alcohol as such but the water it contains. The funny thing is, you guys complain about swelling, over here people are afraid the additional alcohol (from 5% to now 10%) will dissolve pistons, valves, fuel lines, virtually everything but the plastic tanks Hubert
  9. Unless your battery is a late battery you should always hear the pump and also a click at least from the starter. No pump and no reaction at all from the starter in my eyes rather is a problem with the above mentioned connectors or the relais sockets. Check the sockets first. Besides that, keeping the Hawker well charged is always a good idea. They might be strong, nevertheless they're well on the short side of what a good V2 would need. Hubert

  11. Good Luck! And you shouldn't compare MYEcu to this solution. MYEcu is different in what it is, in where it comes from, in what it does and in what idea's behind it. This software thing described above can help you to get rid of a PC, but not per se and not very much more than that. But it's free and it's a nice to have, of course.
  12. They're totally different inside. Different flash unit, different cpu, the maps are also structured differently. But you can swap them on the bike just 1:1. Personally I think the IAW15RC performs smoother, although I couldn't say for what reason. Perhaps just a slightly less aged firmware? That said any available IAW15 for a two cylinder bike should be usable. Just try it out. Don't go for scooter versions unless you just need the housing for an adult ecu Hubert
  13. Unkept, where did you purchase the new bearing? Have you checked the length of the new inner race? While outer race and cage are standard parts, the inner race is not. Hubert

  16. Basically that's exactly my experience, too. In most cases the bikes are running too rich right from the factory, aftermarket exhausts or airbox mods very often make things even worse. Just try it out, go back to the OEM jet sizes or, in your case, try smaller ones, you definitely won't do any harm to your engine as long as you don't go to Daytona Hubert

  20. Actually it's just the hex value in the bin file. Multiply it with 64.5 and you'll get a value in micro seconds. Be aware that MyEcu and WM15 do things differently. While MyEcu usually does percentage corrections the WMs sum up the different map values (temp, barom., oil) to get the final 'ontime'. Your 10368 is also without the 1500 microsecs voltage correction, isn't it? I think it's easier/better to compare just the overall look of the maps, using the graphs of either TunePro or Excel.   23. Exactly. I configured my O2 controller so that for Lambda=1 it signals exactly 1V, .8 for .8 or 1.2 for 1.2 as Cliff once wrote somewhere. First I thought that was not the best idea, because I lost quite a bit of accuracy doing that, but then someone mentioned, wasn't it Raz, that this small window on the other hand provides some useful damping. Now it's enough just to stare at the Optimiser, no more need to do calculations/estimations on top of that
