  7. THX. we'll see what'll happen. Especially how much the consumption will go up. The thing is, over here un'greened' fuel is still available. It costs more, but if the mileage is better this could become a bargain even. hubert

    No no, like hot cakes they're probably selling nowhere. Still too specific Guzzi is used to this I think and quite happy with bringing home smaller bacons at least. In Italy they sell not to bad I heard, and those small block irons cost them nothing in comparison to the Stelvio and its new and difficult teething engine for instance. Contrary to you I never bought any new ride, all my life, I admit. hubert
  9. What percentage of ethanol is currently added to your fuels? We actually have to deal with five, with no real problems, but soon the percentage will be 10%. Guzzi says all modells since 2000 were "fuel proof", but to be sure they are doing tests now. BTW, it's not AG I think. It's just plain lobby work, farmer lobby this time, going for subsidies as usual. hubert

    True, a solution to problems we don't have. Emphasis on "we". Looking back at the last 2 or 3 decades, maybe even Guzzi history at the whole, it's been the other way round I'd say. "We" are the problem that Guzzi has. Just have a look at the NOCs mentioned in another thread. It's the same in every country. They swear on the old tonti irons (mostly crap in the meantime), never bring the bikes to a shop (at least not as long as they're ruined really 120%), never would buy a new one etc etc... I wouldn't blame Guzzi for their search for new markets. We, the old mmarket, never were a good and reliable business for them. We all could have bought a Griso or a Stelvio, new or now even used, bikes with weight and grunt and real Guzzi soul , but have we? BTW, those small bikes are not "Nevada engined" - they, including the Nevada as just one type, are 100% pure Tontis (frame AND engine).   12. If it is the same as here than it would be the summ you could additonally get but probably won't - by reasons like "you always drive a dirty car" or "Susy says you're difficult. Why don't you say 'Morning to here" and the like. Interesting keywords are "dynamic [...] approach" and "target driven". The job needs not be too bad nevertheless. Our new local dealer last year ordered 5 "Racers", 4 of them were sold within two month. How that I thought. Probably because he is a successful Honda man, still young at heart and looking at the new Guzzi/Aprilia/MV branch of his business as just another oportunity to make money. Two Stelvios are sold also and a Norge is about to go as soon as the customer has got his money things straight. This guy is just selling motorcycles. hubert

(No offence meant, it's just that the pic came handy and I had this idea once I saw it ) Anyway, with a Guzzi in the background the perception would have been different, somehow. Maybe the words once were "You meet ... on two wheels" before they got hijacked. It's the same like "You meet ... walking a dog". The point is, in my eyes, those people don't really meet each other, they meet just another dogwalker and look at his dogs while they talk rubbish about rope rewinder springs and fodder can warmers and how much the vet actually takes, the bastard. BTW, I think nobody said your pictures were not done well or not nice just because they were Guzziless. Maybe you're just a bit over-sensitive actually.   19. If they had technical brains (or first hand experience) and not money only they'd go, in this case, for a LMII instead. This said you cannot say what branch of the V11 family will be regarded as the most distinguished in 20 years or so. Personally I'd look for one that looks well when well aged, so to say. Not these luxury mares like the Tennis or Coppa Italias. Those had to be pristine then I guess. Not so a Scura or a maybe all its lifetime hard working Redframe "It's the dirty guys that make the women happy" they say. hubert
  20. Regardless what they say and what is common practice here there's usually never any need to readjust a TPS over its lifetime. Lifetime means at least 50.000 km. And then a worn TPS can't be adjusted, cleaned or in any other way repaired. If you don't have the tools neither the expertise to fiddle with it then even more leave this part as it is. Until you get further help from a buddy or a shop hands directly on the bike, not via the Internet, avoid the 2.500 rpm range under load, stay above 3500 or higher. That's always good advise anyway.   21. Somewhere on their pages they reccommend sort of quick-lock connectors which make it easier to keep the battery inside the house during cold nights. At least for the smaller types. About the center of gravity mentioned by JRT: a low COG is helpful for pushing around the bike in the garage. Onroad you want it remarkably higher for quick steerability and stability. Anyway, having the Hawkers as strong, realiable, not too expensive and relatively small type of energy stores the rational reasons for switching to such a vulnerable system the LiX cells are, are only a few, if any at all. But, the motorcycle being for most owners just some sort of luxury toy (in Italy for instance people had to pay a luxury tax) a gimmick like these "new" batteries should come rather welcome. I think many would happily pay 250 or more for an overnight weight loss of 3 or 4 kilos without anything else to bother. If it were rational reasons only then all of us would have a 250 Honda only. OK, a 500 then, we're adults after all. hubert

  24. I'm with you. A good joke is a good thing, and one being able to make up a good joke really means he's gifted. On the other hand, just finding someone who is able to lough about a certain string of words doesn't necessarily make a good joke out of them. Spreading flat and dumb jokes is like walking the dogs on public lawns for fouling them. hubert
