  1. Unless you don't use silly ultra high dome pistons (like those from FastByFerraci or the like) you probably won't see very much benefit of this action. If any at all. There's space for very small and ridiculous expensive spark plugs only. The problem correctly mentioned by Skeeve is totally beyond any affordable solution. Altering the spark is NOT the problem here, the question is: what means "slightly less advance"? Without a ion sensing device or alternatively an, e.g., piezo based pressure sensor you'll be totally lost. The whole thing makes sense only if you want or need to run your engine really on the lean side. Or maybe if you bought the high dome thingies, as written above. Hubert
  2. Of course. They all engaged themselfes, and they're producing all this nonsense only for the archives. Funny thing. Back to this Simmer Dim Rally: what language do people talk there?
  3. Did he claim, velocity would alter the temperature of the air around the bike? You have dropped a lot in the oil temp no sense thread, so you should know what he tried to express. His observations are right, of course, which is the reason for a quite common mod done by many over here: move the sensor from the airbox to the front below/behind the headlight. Hubert
  4. Conservatives knew it ever since: Communists are too stupid to spend the money properly. Besides that: who cares for FOX, we have our own heroes here. Just wait a few moments. Maybe the last calm minutes right before the take off of another lovely, never ending V11LeMans thread. Sit back and enjoy Hubert
  5. This will not work with the Marelli ECUs as used in Guzzis and Ducs. Don't do it. Hubert
  6. A Force 2 every 15 seconds, or was it for 15 seconds even, to me sounds impressing enough. No fluids acceptable with this test.
  7. It does, it's actually featured as "Aquila Nera" Hubert
  8. How I'd love to, yet not this day, before this warm flow had dried my tears away. Hubert
  9. Dan, you're a good soul. Hubert
  10. Ouh, fogg Klaus! Can happen. The German names, you know. I've been on the provided side. The spring itself is nothing special, the same thing as in the other thread and on the other pages. No serious business, right. More interesting is the oil they sell as combo. Oil with added ""Low coefficients of frictiori"". Ain't that a thing? Ratchet, you have a lucky hand with the links you provide fom time to time. This shop looks similar: You bought your springs there, Ratchet? Hubert
  11. Simple only for you. This simply proofs that they are trying to fool their customers. Otherwise they wouldn't advertise with "The proper HyperPro spring for the V11 from 99 to 04 including the heavier LeMans is exactly the one with the number xy". Your friend Kurt is of the same quality, btw. That's simple, isn't it?! Hubert
  12. I removed the cat and the small outlet. Instead I have one bigger hole now, approx. 40mm, at the end of a rounded (inlet) 200mm tube with an 10mm layer of steelwool around it (in a second tube ofcourse). Great sound, a little less umph at 5000 but now again good power up to the limiter. The original Quat-D is more than dissapointing above 6000! If you go for high end power then nothing can beat a good loud and open pair of Mistral types. Hubert (still searching his "cold turkey" picture)
  13. I've done this with mine and I'm quite happy with it. Sorry, no pictures right now, I've to look for them. Before starting cutting, make sure you're able to weld Inox steel. Hubert
  14. Yes, it's DIY. It was with the bike when I bought it in 2004. The MGCycles one looks similar, maybe the previous owner had it in mind when he started bending. On the other hand, similar problems often lead to similar solutions. Hubert
  15. Thank you, Greg. Hubert
  16. Hm, not really substantial. Ok, you mentioned your values and provided a link to Guzzitech. What does he sell - the one and only available V11 spring kit. Surprise surprise. You guys, That's more substantial. Hubert
  17. Go to this link and look whether you will find different springs for the V11 :finger: http://www.wilbersusa.com/hyperpro-springs.htm Just one type, same as everywhere else on earth probably, suitable for every Sport from '99 onwards including the LeMans! No chance to configure length, rate or whatever. So obviously again just words coming from your side. Words, words, words and more words. If not even lies BTW, Skeeve, if I may quote you "[in case you haven't figured it out yet, I'm solidly in the progressive wound springs camp for motorcycles that aren't simply track queens...]": what specific type of progressive spring do you have in your V11? I mean, what rate, what length (for preload), what stiffness at the beginning and what at the end? Or were you just lucky and for you the standard Wilbers kit was just perfect? Or you, Ratch and Dan, what spring are you using? Also of the same weight as Skeeve? As Guzzi2Go already wrote: 5 links to different calculators are useless. We need links to where we can buy different types of springs. Just one link to show a bit of good will would be enough already. If you have one at least. Hubert
  18. Don't buy progressive springs, they're crap. We had a lot of funny discussions like this, just remember the wobbly thread or the sloted tps thread and the like. This one, the one with the wimpy springs for US bikes only, always was my favorite. Sometimes those Italians can make one wonder, don't they? Hubert
  19. fn cool! Hubert
  20. That's Antonio on this picture. This makes it plausible. Nice bike, Antonio, btw. Hubert
  21. For race bikes such progressive springs are uncommon. By good reasons. They might be soft and smooth at the beginning of the stroke, but this later has to be compensated with a way to hard characteristic at the end. Remember, you have only 120mm of stroke, not really a lot of travel. For the average rider, not suffering from obesidy, the standard springs are ok - adjust riding height / sag to the correct value and keep the oil level in the tubes low. Keep your front fork moving, else no proper dampening will be possible. The rear spring is too hard, even for me with 90kg in gear, you should compensate this with a rather low height setting. BTW: at least over here progressive springs are not offered with different characteristics. They have just one type: Guzzi V11. Nothing with rider's weight or the like. Don't buy them, they're crap. Hubert
  22. This, and the fact, that the roller does not need to be too tight because it's secured by other parts below and above it, makes the whole thing a very hack. If it was me to copy this the only problem would be to find this needle. I know, I have several of them piled up over the years, but where are they now? Hubert
  23. Thank you for posting your solution, Chris. It's always refreshing to see some really inspired idea posted here. A colleague from a German forum mentioned, you should have used the broken end of the spring as a new boss - just for giving it the ultimate bling Nice picture of your bike, too, btw. Hubert
  24. You want a catwalk for your leathers?
