  1. 18%, right now. Hubert
  2. Johann, I'm glad you succeded. Mine still is dead. The whole last year I was without a tach. I have Cliff's Optimiser mounted on the fork bridge, so this was not too much a problem. Actually I'm trying to replace the f/u Veglia pcb with a custom made one, using the first part of this link. As I'm not very used to electronics the progress of this project is a bit slow. Fortunately this season just has started. Hubert
  3. Depends on how long you can keep it plugged
  4. Or maybe this? There's rumour about a luxury version, softly whispering "Come!" Hubert
  5. Thanks for your efforts, Jaap, the more as these files turned out to be quite standard in its contents. If this fellow wanted to sell something, he should come over first with readable files and second with a more brand specific and more precise offer or package. Hubert
  6. That's somewhat funny. Only yesterday I came over this bike, reading an older test report about it. I thought it was interesting that with all this hype about the new Non-V11 like Griso or Stelvio the other ones, the a little bit older ones fell totaly into oblivion. If you really own such a California it would be interesting why. It for sure is a good tourer, so is the Norge, so why didn't you buy a Norge. I think the price is rather the same. Hubert
  7. What if you remove the blanks in the name? Are the rights properly set? Hubert
  8. Exactly my point. I wouldn't need more but access to the Weber-Marelli 15M, and then probably only for adjusting the idle CO - exactly what I've not seen in the Demo PDF. They probably claim a lot of money because of that huge lot of bikes they've included, if you need only one, will they give a huge discount? Hubert
  9. With injection bikes you can and also have to adjust everything manually in the map, this done by the OEM. It's quite possible that this map is not in every corner close to perfect, to say the least. The more with an early V11. I don't know whether Guzzi came up with software updates for the early types as well. Your problem might also be just a poor synchronisation, a small and hence invisible crack in a rubber manifold and and and. Don't worry about the temperature. The values of which I spoke above were read in summer, of course. Then it's quite easy to reach them, especially when digging in thick traffic, or, totally weird, after a good run with a sudden stop, leaving the autobahn eg and standing at a red light. Mine now has 80.000km on the clock and is still runing absolutely reliable and strong, hopefully also through this year Hubert

Thanks for the link to the pictures. Never was interested so much to do such a close search, I must admit. Even now it's more a hypothetical thing Now, how about this: Hubert
  11. That's exactly the way mine had died. Check relays, swap them, blow a bit on them or sing for them, it for sure won't hurt. You guess it probably already, I'm still using the Siemens relays, as Siemens still is in business producing them. I can't see it as being very exceptional if your engine stalls at idle after such a slow motion business traffic torture. In situations like this I can read head/oil temperatures of 120°C and more. Temperatures goes up very rapidly, and then comes down very slowly and only on the open road. In situations like this, engine stalled, lights switching to green, I usually tend to press the Start button and drive on Hubert I also had a very disgusting and unpleasant experience with a stalling engine once: I tried to pass my buddy and ran out of fuel exactly the moment I thought I had him. Shame, big shame!
  12. The systems are different, but I think this is tied to the manufacturer. I'm talking of my KR Veglia with white scales. Maybe Carl can say a word about what he had opened then. Anyway, the idea of separate grounds for electronics and what he called movement doesn't sound very likely. I even think this is just wrong. Hubert
  13. Gently dancing could be normal, I think at least. As long as you're talking about Veglias. They only have one coil, working against those two connecting springs. That's in my eyes the reason why this system is very prone to waving. The newer tachs have a better system, using two coils. This gives a much stiffer needle. Hubert PS I also cut mine open when I think I need a look inside. The mentioned service shops are quite rare nowadays.
  14. Search for a professional tach repair shop if you're afraid now of cutting it again. They remove the aluminum ring and afterwords press on a new one. Normally you find them when you search for VDO Service, Kienzle Service or the like. Their business is looking after lorry instruments and comparable items. Unless a cable or one of the two springs is broken an effective repair is unlikely. I once have posted pictures here, there is nothing inside what could be repaired. One IC, probably custom build and sold for Veglia and some smaller el.parts that shouldn't give up. BTW, the inner parts and PCB are mounted on a plastic part, well isolated with no connection to the housing anyway. The one ground cable to the housing is needed for the bulb only. The other three cables are ground, voltage and signal. You may follow these cables and maybe find a loose connexion or something like that, but an additional ground to the housing is just wasted time. Hubert they're no precision instruments anyway, the Veglias - it's the cheapest crap available. The system they use is at least 30 years old now.

Where does this picture come from? I really like this Macho-Commando-Style. It does not leave any room left for the typical Beemer bling thing. Hubert
  16. Doesn't even come close to "Postal", although the characters do. Hubert
  17. Sorry, Ratch, can't see the text, only poor Marty's for ever abused image. But out of curiosity: how many lines this time? No, hold it, won't see figures as well, again only his face Hubert
  18. The link to the interview was a real disappointment. I bought a copy of Guzziology some years ago, and 'till yesterday I imagined Dave as wearing long hair, rolling his owns and wearing a red, in the meantime better pink, Guzzi overall. Seing him pictured somehow made him quite mortal again... No comment to the content of the interview. It looks as if the new Guzzis are selling better than all they had for a long time now. It's just such a shame that this is so wrong now in our little, idealistic, virtual forum world. Hubert
  19. There are some very easy rules that make forums easier: First read a posting, second switch on what brains you've left, third try to comprehend what your eyes try to tell you, and only fourth sit down for writing an answer. I wrote above, this plate is making money move. No word about profit, about making people rich, or about cheating other people. So calm down, stay easy and be happy to be a member of this forum. Just think of those hundreds and thousands of poor Guzzi fellows who never have heard of this problem and it's solution. Aren't we all rich already? Hubert
  20. First of all his plate makes money change owners. I think it's more an esoteric item, like dream catchers or earth radiation transformers. Those who buy such stuff normaly are happy people, in some way at least, those who don't are happy as well. Hubert
  21. Upright and keep the oil between min and max, stick screwed down. That is what works for me since the early 80ies, living on the continent where Guzzi comes from, of course. Hubert
  22. Regardless what model of HD you might prefer - as long as it sounds like this one it's so or so unbeatable Hubert
  23. Should Martin next time again be a bit late then perhaps a quick web search might help as well. To give you an example please watch this: I Wish to Report a Burglary Hubert
  24. I perfectly understand that you've been asking for a hint what could be done, but these revenge fantasies you mention are in most cases all one can try to overcome his anger. I feel sorry for your friend. When I've been to the Borders some years ago a nice person told me not to call the police should I ever be in trouble. "Call the firemen" he told me, you call them and 3 minutes later at least 5 big and strong men pop up at your home. This does not help you now but at least it's an interesting story in this concern. Hubert
  25. So had I. I can recommend this dealer as well. Hubert
