I wouldn't worry about the Veglia. It's white and nice, but of bad quality and ancient technology. Try to get a newer ITI unit and then transplant this into the Veglia housing. Hubert

No, wrong. They are sold by Marelli and others, not made. That's a difference in so far as it should be possible to source them directly from the manufacturer A LOT cheaper. U US guys are very close to CTS, so why not give them a call? If you tell them the right story you may get some samples for free even. Hubert

Over here the s becomes a f, but while reading you I can perfectly hear him The question is, which letter sounds wetter.

You're kidding, Alex, sure, you are. You do think a honest man was to support such a butcher and body snatcher?? That's probably always the same thing with those organ-not-donators on one side and on the other side those Igorf that think it was sin to waste all this still good stuff. Nevertheless, their site's not really looking too appetising. Hubert

The manufacturer of this TPS is CTS, a US based company, the european office is somewhere in the UK (Scotland if I mind it right). This is the link. Download the Spec-Sheet and you'll find our type of pot. If you take a look at the spec you can see that it is just crap, cheap enough for motorcycles. Anyway, maybe some member here with any commercial background could make it possible to get 50 pieces or so off them. I'm quite sure, if the price is correct it should be no problem to sell them here. The costs for CTI should be somewhere around 3 Euros/USD. Hubert

Is that a running live gag?

Jaap, that's funny. In August 2005 I was probably exactly in this shop and talked to the owner of it. Well, Berwick to me didn't look as if it had another bike shop. He just had come back from Germany then and was so enthusiastic about MZ and it's superb bikes and the great future he hoped they would have. Unfortunately things developed differently, but by then he's had already sold three of these angry saxons. Across the street of it we were in a café so badly f!"`?=d up, or better down, that it already had begun to look somewhat folkloristic to us foreigners

They won there, back in the 70's, or at least came second, together with the Ducs and in front of the Brit thingies. They also were quite successfull in Spain once in that time.

No problem, placing a second camera in some safe distance would let you cope with this. Hubert BTW, BFG, you might like this festival. 180.000 people last year. Sorry for not being one english word on this homepage.

Wsholar Get well soon. It's two weeks now that I've left my bike over the bars and bumped onto the right shoulder. No fractures or ruptured ties, but it's been only three days now that I was able to leave the bed in the morning the first time again without help. So believe your doctors, take your drugs. Hubert

What risks do you see, Ratchet. Is it dangerous for the valves or for the fotographer? Hubert
-
Nevertheless it sounds good. Yes, you're right I think. On older crankcases I've seen the driven oil pump gear beginning it's way into the housing, because the tension, or better the forces on the chain, had tilted the gear's axis. Hubert

Yes, the separate, redundant ground wire is something on what especially you insist. Nevertheless there is no reason for it. Not with this type of Veglia tach. Of course it could be that Carl meant to add a separate ground somewhere in the harness. Or it was a problem once with his bright red bug swatter. These had ground problems with the complete front, including the regulator. Hubert

Thanks, that's what I've somehow expected. If nothing is broken inside then there's nothing to be repaired. The mechanical part is as simple as it could be. The electronics are more or less only one IC, which is unfortunately not available on the market. Besides that it's most unlikely that these ICs are the culprit. On the picture you can see the rest of the pcb. My guess is that the capacitors give up one day. BTW, one of the three cables is ground, so people should not spread that it could be a ground problem. The housing has to be grounded only because of the bulb.
-
Ratchet, you've had the tach open after they had repaired it. Could you see what they've done? Any new parts soldered in or somewhat like that? Hubert

Those washers are crucial to adjust the valve springs resp. the spring load to the correct length/force. Especially in your case I'd very carefully measure and adjust things here, 'cause otherwise the valves could act as the limiter the next time you produce your bike, this way making the ecu's one obsolete. I don't believe that it's a factory prototype. Could be that somebody who worked at Guzzi at that time put it together and that it stood around there for some time, but that makes no prototype. Maybe good enough for a typical hoax. BTW, the fairing for instance looks exactly like the one now sold by Magni. Guzzi is working with Marabese, at least they did so then, and this guy is a pro, on the same level with Tamburini. Once a picture of a LeMans study was posted in this forum. It was looking different.

The Stucchi tensioner is dammed strong, maybe stronger than the oil pump bearings are. Time will tell whether this does them good. Hubert

Sorry for that. Too sweet was meant for this somewhat V11. Personally I'd even say this thing is crap. Lots of money wasted. Every bike has its time and in this time its style. What we see here has no style. It's just a mixture of bits of everything. The italians probably would call it Pasticcio. When I'm right this means something to eat, the rests of the week newly made up, "fastfood", but its a musical term as well that describes the thing when you take the lovliest theme from this and this piece and the intro from this and the ending of that and mix it up. Such may please your ears, but its just lift entertainment. Comin' back to this bike attempt, I'd translate my impression with "just a shot into the oven". It has no substance, no genuine concept. The Guzzi V is represented by only a few bikes: V7/Ambassador (nail laquer red) - 750S (orange) - LMIII (white) - 1100 Sport (yellow) - V11/KR green - Griso (probably). But, as always, Hubert

Yes, slowfood is a cultural thing. Sitting down for a rest, being together, talking together, enjoying the meal. The same happens in the kitchen. Preparing and consuming food as a social and cultural act. The goal is all but sell and swallow calories... BTW, I don't like this style. Just to sweet.

A starter should stand a car's lifetime. This Valeo does not work in a motorcycle. If you buy a new Valeo you just buy new crap, even if it's cheaper than expected. Hubert

EEprom, reflashable, of course! Hubert

I think that actually the best replacement on the market is this: "Anlasser" or here: Specs For me it looks perfect. It costs 200,- Euros. Sorry for those who can't understand this language, but you can PM me. I'll forward you. Hubert

You can ask questions Don' t remember the details, but it was a WM15M. Version A I think. Anyway, today it's a genuine Titanium ecu. I had it on the bike for a week or so. It was working flawlessly 'till the TPS went nuts. For those who might be interested: the Ducati ones are a lot cheaper at eBay as those from a Guzzi are. Hubert
