  1. Neither. Ever since my "accident" 5 years ago [actually, I was the victim of vehicular assault] when my rt. rotator cuff was damaged, I haven't gone shooting w/ it. Doubtful at this point that I'd ever use it again. Need the money, so the bow goes... Why the takedown recurve you ask? Why, when I bought it, there weren't any takedown longbows to speak of [& still aren't, AFAIK], and I wanted a bow that would be easy to transport by motorcycle: the bow, when broken down, was shorter than the arrows, so the entire package was easily strapped to the back & one could ride to the range. At the time, it was pretty important to me, so I was willing to pay extra for the bow, since I expected to keep it (& use it) for the rest of my life. Que sera sera! There are some pretty sweet modern reflex/deflex longbows that if someone manufactured a takedown version, I'd have likely upgraded to prior to my change in circumstances. No such thing as a takedown compound bow, I guess. Some bare bow shooters despise the wheelbows, but I haven't anything against them. A little noisy for hunting with, but they do cast the arrow a mite sprightlier than any traditional bow. Firearms are "it" as far as my shooting future goes, I'm afraid. Not much strain on the shoulder, unless you're shooting something serious like the T-Rex or some magnum round. Anything that needs doing in N.A. can usually be handled by the .30-'06, so I don't go there. My uncle is the "loudenboomer" fan, but that's in handguns, he doesn't much care for rifles that kick!
  2. Thanks Jaap! I didn't think the bow itself was all that important to illustrate, since my question was more about whether any of our members in Italy were familiar w/ what kind of legal issues I might be letting myself in for if I agreed to ship the bow there... I figured this forum had to be useful for something besides stirring up the occasionally acrimonious debates on ethanol, global freezing or what modern automotive oils to avoid putting in our beloved motorcycles!
  3. Y'all remember the guy who converted his Guzzi to run E85? or was it 100% Meth? up in the great North Wet a few years back? I can't find it (just did a quick search), but I definitely remember it being a topic of discussion here on v11LM some time back. I was just wondering what experience he's had w/ the plastic tank, since he's been running it w/ a considerably higher exposure to ethanol or methanol, whichever one it was he converted it to run on...
  4. I'm selling my Martin Hatfield take-down recurve on eBay, and have a query from a potential bidder in Italy if I'd be willing to ship there. I had limited the auction to North America to avoid any such complications, but I am curious now as to what regulatory restrictions there are, if any, on archery in Italy. Don't want to answer w/ even a guarded "yes" if there's a pile of red tape involved. I kind of doubt that it would be as involved as trying to sell a firearm across international borders going from the U.S. -> elsewhere; I wouldn't likely consider that eventuality except to maybe Switzerland! Anyway, if any of our Italian members can offer some insight, I'd appreciate it. Ciao!
  5. I think Dave may be on to something here: the combination of ethanol's high vapor pressure, warmer avg. daily temps, and a vent system notorious for getting pinched (& therefore, not venting) may all add up to MPH's vastly differing experience from that at MI?..
  6. Don't count on that: the EPA is putting the screws to the FAA to eliminate 100LL (a bit of a misnomer that: 100 "Low Lead" has a higher %age of tetraethyl lead than any leaded gas ever sold for the street.) Fortunately, there's a lot of old planes that won't work with anything but, so you're safe for now.
  7. This thread should be closed immediately for having a misleading topic title. I thought we were going to be discussing H. Beam Piper's Sixgun Planet! Completely inappropriate, to lead us literati on that way. I object!
  8. Ya think it might have something to do w/ the fact that they didn't see fit to bring it Stateside?!? You know, selling the first real cruiser-styled big block in the land that invented them & where they still outsell all the other bike styles combined? I dunno, maybe they just felt like they couldn't go up against H-D on their home turf, but it always struck me as particularly... stupid? insane? of Piaggio not to pitch the Bellagio head to head against the 883 Sposta*... Love the cafe'd Bellagio, regardless of the Carc. Maybe if they made the Carc out of magnesium? Would that save enough wt. to make a difference? Who cares, it's a tasty looking modern twist on the great Guzzis of yesteryear! * - you know, 'cause the Sportster is sposta be a motorcycle!

Do a search on "Coppa Mans" for a thread on someone who painted their LeMans in the Coppa Italia colour scheme; that might give you some leads... More power to ya. I wish I had the $$$ & time to do the same; I love the Coppa Mans!
  10. OMG! Is that the Guzzi eagle being swallowed by that ginormous @ss crack?!? Impressive buttuscular control there, but the skin art just does not appeal. It's a personal taste issue, I'll grant you that, but the whole video just screams "Skank!" to me...
  11. Pretty! Me likey!
  12. Definitely. Her acting is so bad I'd know she was faking it, & that's just a bummer no matter how you slice it...
  13. Thank heavens her chest is bare! I find her so irritating an actress that I can barely stand to look at her clothed...
  14. Supposedly, the 4 shaft? 6-spd box in the v11s was geared for 139mph at redline. Some variations are expected, since different tire heights, etc. will affect that gearing. This was a reduction from the 150mph gearing on the Sporti/Daytona RS models, but you gain a more useful spread of gears in the process. IIRC from Guzziology, highest numeric transmission top gear was on the old Ambo 4 spd, 2nd highest in the Quota 5 spd, then the Sporti/Daytona 5 spds. Final drive variations made the difference here, since the Sporti had a high final to give it the highest total top gear ratio. But 1st gear was super high too, such that complaints about difficulty pulling away from the curb uphill 2 up were common for that model... but no worries w/ the Quota or Ambo.
  15. Have you started saving up for the replacement clutch yet?
  16. Combination. You can't use just any old resin for fuel tanks; as a for instance, standard polyester resin from the nearest hardware store uses acetone for clean up [acetone or other ketones being a component in modern "oxygenated" fuels.] Epoxy resins are more fuel proof, but require more exacting handling for proper layup. I suggest contacting Gudgeon Bros. for more info on what they'd recommend if you want to make your own fibreglas fuel receptacles...
  17. What's ironic is that they stepped into a situation when they took over the U.S. operation where it was really turn key: from all reports, all they needed to do is keep the existing system in place & finally offer the factory support that had been lacking for so long. Instead they scrapped everything, put in overpaid execs to muddy the waters & pissed off their established dealers who'd been carrying the brand on their own backs for so many years. As someone pointed out in the original thread on WG, their best hope at this point would be to sack everyone in the boardroom & put Dave Richardson in charge to see what they can salvage & rebuild here in N. America.
  18. That much is clear. I would have joined in on the original run but I couldn't see the point [there's that being dropped on my head as a baby thing again! ]
  19. Phil Irving. Nothing more needs to be said.
  20. Help! I fell on my head as a child & can't visualize anything! Mount it already & let me see, let me see!
  21. Interesting thread over at Wildguzzi forums: http://wildguzzi.com/forum/index.php?topic=32819.0 Best post:
  22. Dude, it's "incest is best, put your sister to the test!" Say it right. SAY IT RIGHT! It's "Chow-dah." CHOWDAHHH! [/simpsons]
  23. Got to love how happy the ladies are to show off their upgrades!
  24. I think you meant to write "spin the valve." (Kinda hard to spin the lifter, since it's rather firmly located by the lifter towers, etc. )
  25. Affects Not intended as a flame. C'mon, you're a Canuck, you're supposed to be correcting my lousy 'Murrican grammar & spelling, not the other way 'round!
