hi,thanks for reply to post. I have recd another e mail from guzzi again stating as my bike is out of warranty the paint problem is all mine.FULL STOP! My e mail asked who i need to write to and register a county court case in the uk,guess what....they forgot to answer that bit! I now need to look and find any related paperwork on this before go any further but I would be interested in any further evidence that this is not an isolated case but a manufcturing fault effecting many many bikes worldwide. Evidence of Guzzis generaly lax attitude to customer satisfaction may also be of use. I am really dissapointed with them... Its a shame,if they carry on like this we will loose Guzzi as a manufacturer of bikes that have real character and soul. Whatmore they are generaly of good quality (they have had plenty of years product development!!). Nige your suggestions are good,I will look into them. Oher posters thankyou for your input too,keep it coming!

i have just recieved a couple of e mails from guzzi customer services!! The first one concerns the crackle (no sorry,blister) finish engine paint.It states that guzzi are looking into this problem but there is no answer yet!!!! I also recieved this exact same e mail about two years ago... HA HA HA..... The second says...... As your bike is now out of warranty we aint interested!! I asked about the clutch flywheel issue too and there is no response on this other than for technical problems consult your local guzzi dealer... I am thinking that perhaps I should gather my evidence together of these two problems and sue Guzzi UK in the County Court?? Anyone else in the Uk game for taking Guzzi on??? e mail me..rossoandy @hotmail.com

hmmmmmmmm,so why is the paint on my 2001 rosso mandello looking like its got big black barnacles growing alll over... The finish when new looked gorgeous,the gearbox is still fine. The bevel box paint didn't blister either...it just flaked off!! Poor preparation and painting too quickly I feel caused the problem. I have stripped my bevel box,coated with etch primer and repainted semi glos black. No problems here now....but,no crinkle finish. Shame would love to find a supplier of crinkle finish heat resistant paint. Engine paint has not flaked off yet but has badly blistered,will leave until I find a suitable paint to match finish.

so...after reading all the above listings.... all I can say is my Rosso clutch rattles like hell,pull the lever and its as silent as the church mouse. I would say its as bad as the ducati dry clutch!! so,do I strip it all out to take a look?....... or do I leave well alone and sue guzzi/aprilia when it goes BANG! hmmm,wouldn't want to bankrupt em again!! lol friggen 'ell as if I've not enough to worry about.......

So,do I now ride my Rosso at the sort of pace it takes to keep up with my mates on R1s and Blades in fear of my life!!!! My Rosso has now done over 9000m and is at times ridden within an inch of its life,clutchless off the rev limiter gear changes,downchanges that make the rear wheel skip and hop and the tyre sqeal...... (at I.O.M)! My Rosso gives me so much enjoyment...... I would be devastated it to suffer the sort of damage seen in these clutch failures. It too suffered the blistering paint finish problems and because I did not wish a sound engine to be disturbed I did not force the issue of Guzzi repainting or replacing it. So....should we all be e mailing Guzzi about this?? If it is a design fault it should be subject to a recall.

hi andy here , when my v1100 tacho played up it stopped charging too, was found to be poor connection under one of those underseat relays.try wigglin the wires around there. rossoandy uk

I keep seeing everyone blaming these relays for faults and I have to say that I experienced problems myself with the starter not engaging.If you wriggled the relay or gave it a tap everything would be fine for a while. Upon very close inspection the relays were fine but the wiring terminals in the blocks were not making good contact with the relay spade terminals, A little work to close them slightly and all has been well since. So look carfully everyone! rossoandy.
