  1. I remember many years ago I had a couple of 45rpm records of the tt soundtrack commentated by the great Murray Walker, the Guzzi V8 was passing Murray by and I remember his excited words vividly 'here it comes....listen to it....fantastic.... terrific...fabulous !!!!!!!! I wonder if they available on cd ?? They are great to listem too..Hocking on the MV....Manx Nortons oh I just gotta go an see if I can find it somewhere on cd. wish I knew what i done with the originals...The big singles being push started.....donk.........donk.....donk..donk donkvrmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
  2. hi guys, just gone out to do a bit on the bike I've measured the distance from rear of front tyre to alternator cover as 90mm as near as damn it. The distance tween front and rear wheel spindles is 1500cm give or take (bit more difficult to measure this one when missus is shouting 'time for dinner')! So..do I have the short frame here or the later longer one? Suspension sag? Now there,s a thought ratchet....i've never have checked it!! Oh well that will have to wait until bike back together an off the ramp. Motorguzznix, thanks for advice on tyres.
  3. Hi Murray, 25mm is the amount suggested by Tony Foale (see his website) the frame guru who now resides in Australia I believe. He says that this will be the equiv of a 1degree strg angle change. I will take your suggestion though and try about 10 or 15mm as a first step. Be interesting to see if I can feel the difference to the way it steers. thanks.
  4. oops!! wat a silly billy u are! lol glad u found prob soo easy to sort.
  5. Thanks for informative reply, its great to have knowledge shared. Yes you right about front shock mounting, sat with beer in hand and air filter et all stripped away so i could get good look at mounting.A simple extension plate would give far too much of an alteration and any other idea would involve much metalwork. Interestingly though I believe Guzzi could have very easily incorporated some sort of adjuster here to adjust rear ride height. I going to try measure wheel spindle centres tomorrow out of interest. I think I will lower the fork tubes in the clamps too by 25mm and see what sort of effect that has. A new rear shocker is just not fundable at the moment although a nice idea...
  6. looks like good mod, gonna find out how cheap these are. Did'nt find definitive answer to my filter question but seems closest thing to oe fuel filter is slightly smaller in dia,as I said earlier easily covered by using piece of inner tube as a packer under clamp.
  7. Faulty neutral lamp switch if starter not engaging? maybe..
  8. Any chance of some pics?
  9. The oil filter I obtained from Guzzi dealer is a UFI item. However why pay even 70% of OEM when you can get away with paying 40% ? Cleanable air filters a good idea although if I can find a good quality paper one for a couple of punds or so it will prove ,more cost effective unless of course I live to be 101 yrs old! lol I just dont see point of linng peoples pockets unnecessarily when there are viable alternatives out there. Call me Scrooge!! Well the suns finally shinin so with the V1100 still in bits I think I give the 250TS a run....ring a ding ding lol ye of course lol
  10. Hi, I decided that at 18000miles I really oughta consider changing the fuel filter as part of my winter bike clean/service routine. I enquired via the usual sources to be qtd around £18 for the filter hmmm I thought. I then removed the filter and took the trip to my local motor factors, the no's on the filter (marrelli) proved useless so we took to physically matching the filter from stock available. Within 5 mins I had found a close match from.......an astra GTE ! costing....£4! Bargain!!! ok its slightly smaller in length and diameter but that was easily sorted with a piece of old inner tube as a packer between the mounting clip and original rubber packer. The small difference in length is of no matter. The 8mm hose mounts were identical so no issue there. This got me thinking about the oil filter and having a spare new one with me we carried out the same procedure finding a Ford CVH engine filter being what appears to be an identical match. ok,until I actually do get to screw it on I cant be 100% but it looks identical so I be surprised if it not ok, cost? £3 !! instead of the £8 or so usual I pay. Ye I know not huge savings but I sure they will do the same job and why pay over the odds? These are Unipart items so will be of good quality. At the end of the day a filter is a filter! Now wondering where I will find my next air filter... Has anyone else found similar examples of parts available (a feat in itself for Guzzi) elsewhere at much reduced costs. My replacment Bosch headlamp was a prime example last year of a huge saving over Guzzi price. Same lamp, half the price from BMW.
  11. hi, never seen that Winston quote...makes you think huh... keep meaning to go see his house, its only 25 miles or so away too...
  12. I not 100% definate yet but working on it... I located close to Dover but of course your route be shorter in France... There interesting D Day musuum at err Portsmouth? lol forgotten where!!!! near where hovercraft goes to IOW.
  13. cough splutter!!!!! £22 a can!!!!! better work!! just ordered one can to try it.
  14. rain wind rain wind rain wind get the picture? Been like it for couple of weeks now.....structural damage to buildings, ferries cancelled, susp bridges closed,flooding.............roll on summer!
  15. So my Rosso has the short frame with 25 degree angle, yes? So if I fit the adj head bearing set |i will gain another degree thus getting close to MGS setting. I gonna see if practical to make a new mtg bracket for rear shock to raise rear end too. Prob not poss but i gonna have a look at it an see. i think tyre choice will make a huge difference too and they due in about 2k miles or so. Currently running mich macadom 120/70 front and Bridgestone BT20 160/60rear. (wore the original mich rear out in Italy)! Ye i know not ideal to mix manufacturers...
  16. Good old Guzzi! can't imagine Honda having problems like this......Guzzi should p ay!
  17. sounds really good, just need to get permission lol you in Gb club?
  18. thanks baldini that easy mod to try. Tyres, yes you right. I remember one pair I bought ruined the bike, forgoten what they were now! I must look tomorow see whats on her now..perhaps i'll check the pressures too......
  19. At the risk of ruining my bikes handling and risking the wrath of those on here 101% happy with the V1100s slow steering..... I have read, I think, of new steering races which alter the head angle slightly to quicken the steering? If such a mod is possible I would be interested to give it a try.... Maybe jacking the rear end slightly do the same? dunnoo? Anyone got any ideas on this? Don't get me wrong I love the bike but sometimes wish it would alter line that bit faster.. If it spoils the bike doing this I can soon change it back I guess.
  20. I can vouch for the guy selling rosso touch in paint on ebay, he is in UK and I have spoken to him,my paint came within couple of days, seems fine. could find details if anyone needs it but e bay search will find him I sure.
  21. Interesting you quote 600 RMs out there....i've heard rumours of this, can you substantiate as there was only to be 300 made. I found my original Rosso actually had a lime green tank repainted rosso red! hmmm does seem to lend power to theory that the 300 sold so well they threw a few more together with whatever parts to hand, inc green tanks as no more of original red production left.....and not alll came with numbered plaque. Be interested to know more...Perhaps a new thread is called for?
  22. Once again this failure rears its head, Guzzi should definately recall all bikes possibly affected and replace the flywheels. I sure if someone gets hurt there a strong case for huge damages with evidence already existing. I wonder if there a case to sue Guzzi for replacment of these parts anyway because of the possible danger of failure? Potentially life threatening failure here. I dont think my Rosso is fitted with suspect components so I ok. Remember brochure saying Rosso fitted with some sintered metal clutch?
  23. Same here, my Rosso battery failed after three years, new Odessey made huge difference. The starter bush may have been dry too on your bike. I will check mine sometime soon. I have experienced a fault asc with the relay wiring under the seat too,if the tacho stops working the bike may not be charging the battery as well. Found this out the hard way...so just be aware if tacho inoperative at any time. Proding about the relay area corrected the fault for a short time, got me home.
  24. DONT DO IT!! Putting kids on yer insurance doesnt really do them any favours an it certainly wont do you any if they have a claim......Sooner they start earning own NCB the better for all. Hard I know but.... Most kids gona be looking at around £1100-1600 3rd party, dependin on car an postcode in UK. As for Insurance on Guzzi, well the V1100 is about group 16 I think and guess any new models may be higher cause higher performance? I got mine down to about £220 nor fully comp but only after shoppin around. the high spares prices doesnt help nor does lack of easily available parts. Again Guzzi not helping long term survival of brand here. (puts cash in coffers short term).
  25. Rosso M?, there one on 'youtube'in a HARLEY shop window bein run up! oooer
